This Woman Shares What It’s Like To Be An Unwanted Child And Makes A Powerful Point Supporting Abortion Rights
Back in 2012, the world was shaken by the tragic story of Savita Halappanavar. She passed away due to a medical misadventure after her doctors refused to perform an abortion when she was suffering from a septic miscarriage. This whole tragedy caught everyone’s attention and so it began a battle for legal abortions in Ireland. On 25 May 2018, a referendum was held, and with 66.40% of people voting pro-choice, abortions were legalized in the Republic of Ireland.
While everyone was talking about the referendum, one Imgur user known as TheUnwantedWoman decided to share her story and portray a very unique side of abortions, explaining how they actually change people’s lives. She started her story by quoting those who constantly use “but think of the unborn child!” as an argument. TheUnwantedWoman was willing to show a different point of view, one that reveals the reality of children who feel unwanted in their own families. She titled her story “My voice mattered,” stating that she often wishes her mom would have been allowed to perform an abortion.
After the user shared her story, people started writing comments, encouraging her and supporting the referendum in Ireland. Scroll down to read her story yourself

Share on FacebookYou are 27 but can't have your tubes tied until you've had a child or your husband gives you permission! That is so sick and backwards words fail me. I'm so sorry about your parents. Thank you for posting.
Having your husband's permission is required in many places in the US too. It's not just Ireland that has it.

This story is for all of you Pro-life proponents. This just happened in our area. Woman got pregnant, but she didn't want the baby. Boyfriend didn't want the baby either. They were young and listened to their families and had/kept the baby. Fast forward a year, the baby is 4 months old. Police get a call of an unresponsive baby. Find this 4-month old in a baby swing, dead. The diaper hadn't been changed in over two weeks. The baby was malnourished, had maggots in the diaper area, had cigarette burn marks all over it's little body, old fractures and other signs of horrific abuse. Now, the point of this is: Listen when someone says they do not want a baby! Listen the them! There are worse things than abortion! Much, much worse. Horrifically worse. Tragically worse. We must keep the choice of abortion available to everyone, absolutely must. This scenario happens all over. I would much rather these 'parents' abort the baby than have it and abuse it.
all this time, i think iam the only one (unwanted abused child ) sorry for bad english , thank you for your stories its give me hope
you are absolutely not the only one. I send you a big hug from here to wherever you are.
Load More Replies...While I am pro choice from a legal standpoint, I am pro life as a personal choice. An informed personal choice as it is a choice that I was faced with myself. The part that I don't understand about why this is seen as an argument for abortion is this: Was adoption also illegal when this all happened? If her parents were so messed up that they wouldn't give her up for adoption, what makes you think that they would have been willing to abort the pregnancy?! Think this through, people...
Pregnancy is nine months long. That doesn't include the painful birth. Moreover, putting someone up for adoption is a long, humiliating, shameful, complicated, bureaucratic process. These two things are not analogous.
Load More Replies...You seem to not understand her post. She was never wanted! She was abused and hurt by her parents bcs of that and even worse, they let others abused her! So yeah, your story makes no sense here.
Load More Replies...What in the actual f**k does having a man in her life have to do with happiness? Seriously?!? I do not need a man in my life to insure my happiness. I am perfectly capable of being happy on my own. I do not live my life knowing I will never be happy until I have a man in my life! That is asinine. That thinking is a recipe for disaster. Grow the hell up and be happy with yourself...THEN share your life. (BTW, I've been married for 38 years to my wonderful husband, but I am not only happy because I am with him, I am happy with myself.)

Load More Replies...There is no "argument". This is not a "debate". Abortion is basic women's health care.
Load More Replies...A pregnant woman has every right to end an unwanted pregnancy for any reason. Her body, her choice.
Load More Replies...You don't think she's trying to? It's not so easy to just become happy when you have that much bagage from the past and medical issues to handle on a daily basis. There is also a big difference between blaming and explaining, and feel this is much more on the explaining side than it is on blaming.
Load More Replies...Do not push your idealism on others who will never live up to it. We live in a world with flawed people (everybody) some of whom do not have the capacity to live up to your expectations of morality. Think about the suffering of real life conscious children who have to be raised by these people. If you are a Christian, remember that Jesus preached mercy and love, not judgement.
