‘Before And After’: 20 Devastating Images From Ukraine That Show How Quickly The War Destroys Everything
It's been a week since Russia invaded Ukraine. The first stage of war didn't go to the aggressor's plan—the Kremlin's forces were in complete disarray and made little progress.
However, even though the Ukrainians are heroically defending their homeland, Russia has ramped up its assaults and continues to advance before the second round of talks between the two countries is set to take place on Thursday.
As more cities are shelled and Putin piles unimaginable suffering on civilians, as details of war crimes emerge, and as allies try to find the best ways to respond, photos from the battles paint a devastating picture of how the conflict is transforming this once-peaceful corner of the world.

By attacking Ukraine putin destroys 3 countries: Ukraine, Belarus and Russia. none of the people in their right mind support this, not in Belarus nor in Russia. Of course there are some brainwashed idiots out there( very small percentage) , but trust me brainwashing ( about fighting Ukrainian nazi) going on in those countries ( Russia and somewhat Belarus) for over 2 decades.

Would be better to have two pictures of the same part of the building? It's the same style, but nothing in the left picture has the same windows and proportions as on the right. It may be to the left of the left photo.

President Joe Biden alleged that Russia is intentionally targeting Ukrainian civilians.
But despite his accusations for the regime, Biden stopped short of formally claiming Moscow is committing war crimes.
His envoy to the United Nations, however, said Rssia is prueparing to use banned weapons, including "cluster munitions and vacuum bombs," in Ukraine.
She also issued a stark warning to invading Russian soldiers."Your leaders are lying to you. Do not commit war crimes," US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said during remarks to an emergency session of the General Assembly. "Do everything you can to put down your weapons and leave Ukraine."

It breaks my heart just looking at these pictures. I can't imagine the anger and heartbreak of those who live there. It's a horrible thing to have a hurricane or a tornado do damage like this... but human beings doing it? On purpose??? Unacceptable. Totally unacceptable.

Russia's relentless bombardment of residential areas across Ukraine has already forced more than a million refugees to flee the country.
"I have worked in refugee emergencies for almost 40 years, and rarely have I seen an exodus as rapid as this one," Filippo Grandi, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, said in a statement.
For comparison, it took three months for one million refugees to leave Syria in 2013.

It's the same school from before. This is a place FOR KIDS! Where kids PLAY! What the hey do you need to bomb it for?! I'm calling war crimes here. Wikipedia states it as, "A war crime is a violation of the laws of war that gives rise to individual criminal responsibility for actions by the combatants, such as intentionally killing civilians or intentionally killing prisoners of war, torture, taking hostages, unnecessarily destroying civilian property, deception by perfidy..." I can check off two of them right now. Putin's going to jail for a long time.

It's the same school as in (what is at the moment) the first item of this list. Well, the left picture there and the first picture here... It's confusing because the before/after are from other viewpoints, it's not clear/convincing that it's the same building (unless you live there!). Like this one even looking "hang on, is that photoshopped because 2nd and 3rd pic seem same look but one has a school in the background" --- because the playground is symmetric and photo opposite direction.

It's pretty hard to say "we're not targeting civilians" with this kind of evidence to the contrary.

It's not taken from the same angle, but it's not as if they planned ahead to stage before and after photos. They just found pictures of Ukraine from earlier and those from recently and stuck them side by side, right? Or not? I don't know.

This looks similar to the apt building hit by a missed that was aimed at the hospital. Had this building not been standing that high, the functioning hospital would have been done for. Brutal

Ukrainian resistance in Kharkiv, the country's second-biggest city, continues to hold out, as Russian strikes hit at least three schools and damaged a cathedral and shops on Wednesday, according to videos and photos posted to social media, geolocated and verified by CNN.
One the same day, President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed Russian forces in a broadcast, saying: "You are leaving people without food, you are leaving us without medication. You are shelling evacuation routes, there's no weapon you wouldn't use against us, against free citizens of Ukraine."

According to Michelle Bachelet, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, in addition to those who had left the country, one million people were also displaced internally.
"Thousands of people, including older people, pregnant women, as well as children and people with disabilities, are being forced to gather in underground shelters and subway stations to escape explosions," Bachelet said. "Many people in situations of vulnerability are separated from families and effectively trapped."

I look at these beautiful buildings, and lovely green spaces, and think "it will be decades before it looks that nice again."

With the scale of the humanitarian disaster becoming ever more apparent, the International Criminal Court announced Wednesday it had opened an immediate active investigation into possible war crimes committed by Russian forces during the invasion of Ukraine.
ICC Prosecutor Karim A.A. Khan said his office "had already found a reasonable basis to believe crimes within the jurisdiction of the Court had been committed and had identified potential cases that would be admissible."
Let's hope that people responsible for these atrocities will be brought to justice.

I hope that every bit of Puyin's estimate 600 billion dollars that have been frozen in accounts around the world will be turned over to the Ukrainian as reparations so they can rebuild. We need these images! To see what Putin is responsible for. What damages he is inflicting. This puts the word "war" into perspective. I wish this would not be happening, but it is and it is important to know how bad it is. Knowledge is power. We need to know so we can help. I hope we can help. I hope this will be resolved soon. My biggest fear in all this is the possibility of Putin realising there is no chance of winning this war, whether he manages to occupy Ukraine or not, it will not be a victory for him. And then he will be a man with nothing left to loose and the means to take the whole world down with him.

Last Wednesday, the people of Ukraine woke up like any other day. They took showers. At meals with their families. Went to work. Drove their children to school. Walked their dogs. Went shopping. When they went to bed that night, they expected Thursday to be just like any other day. Putin took all of that away from them. Come hell or high water, that evil bastard will pay for his crimes.

Given that Chinese state TV is just copying Russian state TV and reporting that Ukranians have sent hundreds of missiles onto Ukranian cities themselves, that it's all to defend Russian speaking minorities that are being bombarded... Even tv in Taiwan can (where they're traditionally anti-CCTV)? None of this matters to the Russian that just gets state news. You post these images on a review of a russian business (with neat russian text -- not english nor google-translated text)? They'll sigh and say "poor foreign fools, showing picture of well-known Ukranian attack and blame russia?!".

putin--bad. ukraine--good. big supporter. but on a different note... who is making some of these "before" and "after" compilation shots? too many of them are not actually of the same exact thing/structure/location. that's not how before/after shots work. like that gym, for example. i've seen that after shot publicized many times. it's good to get that out there so that the world can see how putin is destroying the everyday lives of the ukrainian people. but... if you can't find the actual "before" image of the same gym and the same exact shot--not just some random pic of a different undestroyed gym--then don't put them together. that undermines the credibility of the shots. "here's a wide shot picture of a stadium. let's put it next to a destroyed building that was never in the wide shot." that doesn't help things.

Unfortunately, this won't end with anything short of Putin being assassinated. No matter how badly you cripple his country in retaliation, the economy, the people, all of it, no matter how many countries are against him and how many rich friends turn on him, he won't withdraw. Withdrawing your troops is seen as a weak move and the one thing he's never wanted to be seen as is weak. To him being seen as weak would be his downfall. Though he's definitely already done this. His downfall has begun because his "friends" will prefer his death over losing all they've gained. He has the absolute nerve to claim he's doing this to save people from a Nazi regime when he's bombing civilian populations and arresting thousands of his own people for daring to speak against him.
