6-Year-Old Superhero Saves Sister From Dog Attack, Gets 90 Stitches And Praise From The Avengers
Six-year-old Bridger Walker from Cheyenne in Wyoming is a real-life superhero! The boy protected his little sister from an aggressive dog that injured him during the daring rescue—Bridger had to get 90 stitches for his wounds. “If someone was going to die, I thought it should be me,” the boy said.
Now, Bridger is being called a hero worldwide. And if you think that the 6-year-old has all the makings of a professional superhero, you might not be far off from the truth.
Actor Mark Ruffalo, who plays Bruce Banner and the Hulk in Marvel’s Avengers movies, responded to the story and said that he admired the boy’s courage. Meanwhile, Chris Evans aka Captain America sent the boy a video where he praised him for his bravery. Plenty of other celebrities have pitched in with their own praise. Welcome to the Avengers, Bridger!

Actress Anne Hathaway also shared the story online

Other celebrities, including Hugh Jackman, Zachary Levi, Tom Holland, the Russo brothers, Robbie Amell, Chris Hemsworth, Anne Hathaway, and others have also shown their support for Bridger. Anne Hathaway commented: “I’m not an Avenger, but I know a superhero when I see one. I can only hope I’m half as brave in my life as you are in yours, Bridger. Wishing you an easeful recovery, and many cool looking rocks.”
The 6-year-old’s heroic tale first went viral after his aunt Nicole Walker shared it on Instagram and tagged the actors from the Avengers movies to let them know about the newest addition to their ranks.
The incident happened at a friend’s home on July 9. Bridger, his sister, and their friend went into the backyard where there were a couple of dogs. After their friend pointed out which of them was the mean one, it immediately charged at them. Bridger put himself between the dog and his 4-year-old sister to protect her without any concern for his life or safety. The dog was a 1-year-old German Shepherd mix.
After the dog latched onto his face with its teeth, Bridger yelled for his sister to run. When the dog let him go, he grabbed his sister’s hand and ran with her away from the dog.
Immediately afterward, the dog’s owner secured their pet, ran Bridger inside the house, put pressure on his wounds, and called for emergency care. He was taken to the hospital where a plastic surgeon, Dr. Joseph F. Looby, gave him stitches.
The good news is that Bridger has already been discharged from the hospital and he’s now back home. He also hasn’t lost his spirits despite being wounded like a real warrior. According to Nicole, the boy’s aunt, their family doesn’t hold any ill will towards the family that owns the dog that hurt Bridger. In fact, the two families have become closer because of this incident.
The world would be a much better place if we had more people like Bridger. Well done, sir, you have my respect. Kudos from Greece ❤️

I really think the point has been lost here, if you're injecting adult politics into a six year old boy protecting his 3(?) yr old sister? The difference in age is far more the discerning thing here, than any dangly bits or lack thereof.
The instinctual protection by an older sibling of a younger... this boy has it in spades. I wish him a speedy recovery!
What a big-hearted little boy. So courageous and brave. Somebody get this boy a medal!
This sweet little boy has a brave and pure soul <3 but what kind of friends let your childrens play around their dangerous dogs;I hope the said guy paid for the emergency costs and that he's been obligated to give training/education lessons to that dog in prior to be able to keep it, he could even take a few lessons for himself stupid human
Training is importanr, but, Any dog can snap for seemingly no reasonn, just like humans - they may never have thought of it as dangerous ( which is why children should never be left unattended with dogs,,)
you are absolutly right but as the story said :"After their friend pointed out which of them was the mean one" I assumed that the doggie was known for being aggressive
If it's possible to intervene, then it's more than a snap or whatever. Owners should know their dogs, if a dog has aggresive tendencies, then they should be very short leashed and be kept away from kids. If kids want to go into a yard with a dog like that, you prevent them from doing that. Not the other way around. It's an adult's responsibilty period. Sure you try to teach kids, but they are allowed to mess up and be good hearted. Bridger has great instincts, that's for sure. And this owner should not be allowed to have dogs. And no, I would never let my kids alone with even the sweetest of dogs if I wasn't the one that raised the dog. Young dogs especially might even just be playful, but they can still injure a young child just by jumping up to them.
Nope. The owners kids knew the dog was mean. It didn’t “snap”.
In this case, it was stated that children went into the backyard where there was "the mean one" (dog). The brother and sister were basically strangers to that dog. Why weren't the adults in that house using their brains for God's sake???

The dog needs to be put down. There is NO excuse to keep an animal that would do that. Take your "training" and shove it.
Myrtille rat: Please take a deep breath. The dog was a puppy, and puppies aren't always well behaved despite training. The owner had it put down, if it makes you feel better.
In addition to being such a brave, selfless big brother, I think it's adorable that it looks like he buttoned his own vest in the first picture because there's a button left over at the bottom.
Kudos from Gondor. Bridger will be welcome in the ranks of the forces of Gondor, should he so desire, and I would welcome him as the Captain of my Guard. I would like to thank him for his selflessness, and I have no doubt he would have acted the same way should Sauron himself attack. Due to covid however, you will have to settle for a virtual knighting.
What a brave young gentleman.
Bridger, you are a great brother and a wonderful and courageous boy. Get well soon.
This little guy is a hero
I hope the dog didn't get put down. I just can't stand the idea of killing a dog. It didn't know anybody. I'm also glad the kids are alive with only one harmed.
Jonathan Armstrong: The owner did have it put down, sadly. It is too bad, but some dogs just don't socialize with people well.
The owner has the whole responsibility and should be punished sevrely. The dog was also a victim here. _ Why do you think this happens?
"Children" are not "people". We don't know how it happens, why? Were the dog unsocialized or just not watched by his owner? What the kids were doing? What the dogs were doing? Children sadly can misbehave in front of a dog. That's not their fault at all, that's education. I ALWAYS WATCH MY DOG WITH CHILDREN, i don't watch him with my tiny little rabbit, my rabbit know how to behave with him, she's even bossing him around. I can leave the room without any doubt. I don't feel comfortable at all with children around my dog. An accident could happens so fast, children are very energetic and loud, that's not how dogs works, I ALWAYS WATCH. Even a "good" socialized dog can be dangerous for a child.
The boy is a true hero. Bravo!

First & foremost, Bridger....you truly are my Hero!! My career has been putting myself in danger to help others. I became a Fire Fighter because of this instinct in me, I would LOVE to Welcome you into the Fraternal Brotherhood of Fire Fighters...you have the Heart for it young man!!! You are our Brother! Next, I was heartbroken to learn that this was a German Shepherd X that did this...I don't know what this dog was crossed with, but every GSD I've known, or owned, has been a sweetheart with children. In fact, I consider them to be faithful family pets! BUT...there's always that exception and if this person knew this dog to be "mean", it needs Professional Training from the age of 6 months onward, and needs to be kept away from children until you're sure the dog knows his place! Without that training, if this 1 y/o dog is acting aggressively, it will continue to be aggressive! This dog is a "child" itself and was obviously in desperate need of responsible ownership!!!
Unfortunately, it is always a dog who pays for his owner's irresponsible ownership, and that's wrong.
It it was known that the dog was "mean" why was it allowed off leash, and unsupervised, near children? Bridger and/or his sister could have been killed!
Courage doesn't come from a gun... or a cool tattoo... or an expensive car... or big muscles.... or a group of friends. Courage isn't bullying others or threatening someone weaker than you or beating up someone who disagrees with you. Courage is taking the hit for someone else when you know it's going to hurt. Courage is standing in front of the fire so someone else doesn't have to. Courage is dealing with pain to protect another person. THIS is courage... and it's time we as a society learned what the word means, and stopped pretending that it has anything to do with being a "tough" guy. I've seen grown men act like children... and today I saw a child act like a MAN.
True words. 👊
Courage isn’t the lack of fear, but rather, facing your fear and winning through
Super brave and cute boy! I wish more people in the world were like him. love from Ohio <3
That poor little boy. He's going to have a lot of pain and suffering with those scars and the revisions he is going to end up needing as he grows. How can a little 6 year old boy be so brave?
What a brave little man! And such a good brother too. Much respect.
Chris Hemsworth has an Insta story for him too!
So does Cap America,he promised to send him a shield as well...
Little man, big heart.
That was a great act of heroism from him. But I wonder why the kids were able to be around the dog thst was known to be mean? I have an aggressive dog and I run a childcare...no way would my dog be anywhere but locked in our room with my husband or in the side yard-where we built 2 fences and a heated|air conditioned dog house, plus a locked doggy door. Husband locks the backdoor and takes her potty when we are outside. Once he forgot and we came back, and started eating-I brought it to his attention and had all the kids get up and go outside for a minute. So many precautions!
Aunt Messy is a real "sweetheart" isn't she? Only "people" deliberately - without purpose attack others, cause pain and suffering. Those children were strangers to that dog, so maybe that dog did want to protect his owner's property which dogs usually do. Of course we know the answer: Aunt Messy has a tiny brain and no heart, no consideration for other people's feelings, no compassion what so ever.

Why do you even bother owning an animal that you KNOW is dangerous, that you KNOW would deliberately attack a human, and that you KNOW is an attack waiting to happen? Why would you even own an animal like that? ...///.... Of course, I know the answer. Your husband has a tiny penis and can't afford a sports car.
Gtfo of here. You have such a disgusting mindset to be this rotten to someone who is clearly taking precautions to keep everyone safe. You don’t need “a tiny penis” to care for an animal who is aggressive. You just need to have more than a tiny heart. Which you obviously wouldn’t understand.
You don't have to insult everybody like that. My dog would be considered vicious, but only because he is over-friendly, and will jump and pull (in a way that some would call aggressive) to only give a sniff and lick you. I don't think my dog would ever attack someone. And the fact that the dog attacked the boy is bad ownership. But you don't have to shit on everyone with a "vicious" dog.
Aww, poor little guy, such a cutie and protecting his sister. I hope he is OK.
May this boy live a long and prosperous life ❤. He is a real man. Kudos from the US (Something tells me that he will make a better president than the one we have now).
Nothing in life is gonna stop this kid
This sweet young man would have done this for anyone. Honestly it being for his sister only made him fight that much harder. But he would have protected a perfect stranger or another animal from that dog. His heart is just that big.
And to think my brother wouldn't even stand up to his friends when they bullied me. I wish that little boy was my big brother.
Nice, take someone else's thunder and make it about yourself. I'm guessing its a habit.

There is still honor and courage in this world. And I mean honor. I mean take knighthood, King Arthur legend, self sacrificing, taking a loss so that another can have a boost, true hero spirit. If our children have it, there is still hope for this world.
Yeah, I pray I could do the same in that situation
What a very irresponsible pet owner. Even my aggressive Pitbull who will bite you if feel threatened or you walk on our property knows it's not to attack children.
Oh! Choked me up! No doubt my boy would do that for his sister....no doubt. What a TRUE..hero. You know he wasn't thinking I'll be famous..he was thinking...not my sister! Hes just a hero. A REAL HERO!💝
WOW...
what a selfless, fearless boy.
And i hope the 6-year old gets better and heals quickly.
Dogs rarely just attack unprovoked. The story lacks what happened before the incident, that may have stressed out the dog. Kids often stress animals to dangerous levels when they’re playing. Another thing, if they knew this dog had some problems, why did they let him be around the kids?
What happened before is irrelevant to the story. This story isn’t about the dog and whether or not it’s at fault. This story is about the boy who protected his sister. Had the writer tried to make the dog out to seem evil then yea, I’d want to know. But that wasn’t the case.
What a wonderful and courageous young man. You can't 'teach' this kind of behaviour, it comes from within. He will become a fine man when he grows up. I just hope that as he is so young the scars will fade as he grows. People show so much prejudice to men with scars on their faces, not waiting to hear the heroic story behind it..
Just heard Chris Evans sent Bridger his Captain America shield!
That's very likely the most badass-thing I have ever heard of. You fearless son of a... knight!
I am crying! What an amazing and brave boy! Oh my heart! I hope he heals quickly! God bless!
Such an inspiration even if he is only 6. Everyone should protect their siblings like that. Way to go, Bridger

NOT superhero!, just a little child, who love his sister ;) So simple...
The boy sure wasn't thinking about heroism.
So touched and amazed that a 6-year old would be this brave! If he ran away by himself it is totally understandable, he's 6! But he chose to stay and save his sister, I truly admire this little boy! Wish him and his family all the best!!!!
I have the *exact same dog bite on my face*. I was attacked in the dark by my sister's dog at 32 years old. I know what lies ahead for Bridger with recovery. It's a long one. I love him for what he did. He is going to make an amazing man and husband.
Nothing about this story makes me feel anything good or happy at all. I hope the animal was either put down or taken somewhere it can exist safely, and the owners had all their animals taken away and were brought up on the applicable criminal charges.
How can we get him a cameo in next avengers movie?
Rodger Kessler easy
This is a magnificent story from beginning to end.
Wow the sister is very lucky to have a brother willing to risk his life for her. The 6-year old is a true hero.
Is the dogs owner notified yet? He may need to know about this!

It is stated at the bottom that they hold no ill will towards the owners and have in fact grown closer together. So obviously they know.
I wonder if he's named after Jim Bridger....
I just saw this on the Today show! I don't know one six year old that would do what this young man did. He is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! You are a true HERO in my eyes!
I pity any school bullies who even DARE to pick on these kids.
Brave lad! That is heroism in it truest form - and keeping his cool afterwards, caring for himself, makes it even better. If he has scars from that incident, I hope he wears them with pride.

Why do I always open these posts up while I'm cutting onions!
Will the boy need scar revision plastic surgery? Maybe financial contributions to that would be a nice addition to videos & e-mails?
I love all animals, even those that bite. However, sounds to me like the dog owner didn't fulfill his responsibility to the dog or the children.
This kid reminds mw of my brother. In 2018 my brother had an accident that cost his life and after he passed he donated his organs to 5 lucky lucky childeren. We need more people like briger and william.
You know... after reading this article i feel kind of stupid. There are so much kind people in the world that are nice to their siblings and risk their own life to save others, and here i am, being mean to my own sister, taking her toys and stuff! I should really be more kind.
A remarkable young boy, he has parents, who taught him well, at that age, to quickly take charge, and protect his little sister, I am extremely impressed, God Bless him !!!
Here is exhibit A of people who are amazing
Cheeky ones these two are. What a wonderful brother. When I caught on fire from the kitchen fireplace as a kid, my brother just laughed.

That boy is a true hero and there is no doubt about that, but please please, never ever try to step into a fight involving large breeds of dogs and tell all your children too. It is a very dangerous idea. I know that adrenaline rush when you want to save someone´s life and you see no barriers, but dog is ALWAYS faster than you if you fight him with bare hands.
I don’t think he stepped into the fight. The dog seems to have attacked, and he did the only thing he could
Its too bad that the boy had to feel like he had to risk his life to be a super hero. Poor kid.... I hope the parents took legal action and the dog that attacked him, was put down!
The owner should not keep dogs and children without supervision. Dogs, animals do not deliberately attack and hurt people, people hurt and kill people. You are going to fix this world, sweet Gigi.
Gigi lol
What breed of dog was it?
It was a Shepard mix Any dog can or will be aggressive...Dogs have teeth children are touchy and grabby don't leave kids and dogs together idiots

Now that dog needs to be put down. You cannot permit an animal that vicious to be...anywhere there are humans. Here's hoping the owners paid for ALL medical expenses after their negligence scarred a child for life.
Putting down animals did not, will not save world from irresponsible, indifferent, ignorant, arrogant, cruel, heinous people. Our planet is not being destroyed by animals.

The dog should be shot immediately and the owner sued
An attempt at rehabilitation should at least be made. If this was Sweden, the owner would be responsible for the damages.

This is the most stupid things I've heard every dog once in a life or some times twice or thrice want to bite someone and not matter how hard you've trained him he will bite the person. This happened with a bulldog owner who adopted him since he was a puppy. The dog chewed his 1-year-old son, and he immediately shot the dog. Before thath the dog had bitten 3 other person.
It says the two families are close, they did not fault the owner. And, shot?! Really?! A bit extreme
Well.. I hope they're close, because someone's insurance will need to pay for the child's mauled face. It's always awkward having to sue your friend or relative to get accident expenses covered.

Everyone is praising the kid (which is true) and screaming against the dog owner. What about the dog ?? I know a dog owner who had a bulldog and he adopted when he was a puppy and one day he chewed his 1-year-old son. And when he went to the pet doctor he said, no one can stop sometimes the dog are angry and no matter how much time you've spent on training, they will bite the person.
Why do dogs bite...It is never random potential causes 1)touchy grabby child 2)pain 3)territory 4)fear 5)training or lack of ...simple dog behavior but I agree children should not be left alone or unsupervised with dogs especially large ones....If a dog bites a person is usually to blame
@jiriw The only reason a dog will bite someone is if the person is making the dog feel threatened, or if the owner hasn't trained the dog properly (and that's the OWNERS fault)
Don't worry, we'll show the dog this post so it will be rightfully shamed.
Dude we've trained our American Pitbull Terrier to not be so aggressive he has never attacked a child like this ever. And he is that dog people are afraid of and he has bit adult people before never drawing blood. I think that dogs act out and be aggressive when they're trained that way, or they're not being taken care of properly
What's wrong with Jessica's comment? Irresponsible people need more training than dogs do.

Wow wow wow what a amazing real life superhero. So brave and the perfect big brother ever.
Chris Evans gave him a Capt America shield. Good job. Now GO MEET THIS BOY!

More a Man than most that claim to be.

Yeah, he’s got more balls than anyone I’ve ever met

Sweet big brother. Since there was no mention of the breed of the dog you know it wasn't a Pittie.
Yep, you're right. It says it was a German Shepherd mix.
Alicia Stock like
Except there was mention of the breed
So beautiful best wishes xx
Where were the parents?
What a hero so glad he’s okay
that is why I try to avoid dogs

John Swaffar -
It is stated at the bottom that they hold no ill will towards the owners and have in fact grown closer together. So obviously they know.
I wonder if he's named after Jim Bridger....
I just saw this on the Today show! I don't know one six year old that would do what this young man did. He is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! You are a true HERO in my eyes!
