Have you ever accidentally touched a complete stranger on the street and felt awkward or even downright uncomfortable? American photographer Richard Renaldi tries to play on this experience and make it less unpleasant by creating closer connections between strangers in his “Touching Strangers” photo series.

Renaldi’s unique project pairs total strangers who have just passed each other on the street. Unrelated men, women, boys and girls pose together and try to create some kind of intimacy with people they’ve met for the first and perhaps last time in their lives.

Even though the “models” have to leave their comfort zone, some of them manage to look very close to their “partners”. The everyday settings and natural human interactions between regular people make these pictures simply beautiful.
