Have you ever had difficulties trying to get a baby to sit down and pose for a picture? It’s a huge headache now, but it was even harder for mothers in the Victorian era, when camera technology made posing for photographs difficult. These weird photos will show you how these mothers got their kids to calm down to get their pictures taken. Babies had to be held by their mothers who, with the best of intentions, hid themselves in quite peculiar and creepy ways so they could calm their child and also stay out of the shot.

Michael Paul Smith is the perfect example of an artist with a passion for what he does. For the last 25 years, he has spent some of his spare and much of his professional time making miniature models and photographing them, creating a gallery of vintage car photographs from a fictional 1950s American town called Elgin Park.
Aging and death fascinate and terrify many because they are natural and unavoidable forces that we are all subject to. These 10 gifs, taken from a video uploaded on Dogva.com, show what perhaps as much as half a century of aging can look like in just a few seconds. The pictures feature portraits of older people along with portraits from their youth that have been overlaid on each other, switching back and forth between the two.
As hard as things might seem right now for high school or university students entering the job market, it’s probably nothing compared to what these kids had to go through in early 1900s America. This photo series, archived by the Library of Congress, shows what conditions were like for child laborers before child labor was largely eliminated in 1938.
