Although dogs and cats live on land and both are easily domesticated, dogs actually have more in common with marine animals than they do with their furry foes. Canines share a lot of similar characteristics with seals, for example, mainly because both the fluffy dogs and baby seals are considered Caniformes (which literally means "dog-like") and come from the same suborder of Carnivorans (unlike cats, which are Feliformes).
This genetic link perfectly explains why these adorable animals are often known as puppy doppelgangers. Don't believe us? Then take a look at these cute photos below compiled by Bored Panda. Only one mystery remains: if our beloved cute dogs have so much in common with seals, why do so many of them still hate baths?

y'know,, in my country, Seal means Anjing Laut. which means Sea Dog
*science nerd mode* Sea lions are actually a branch of the seal family, specifically termed "eared seals," or "Otariidae", so they are indeed seals. Also, they're adorkable.

I look like that right seal everytime I accidentally open the front camera on my Phone
All animals seams to need close contact with each other. We also!
Sea lions are in a lot of those pictures, I think over half. There are a few seals as well.

don't know why it didn't work the first time 15977494_1...97eb7b.jpg
That is why in Holland we call them zeehonden (translated: seadogs)
You know what's missing? When they both play 'buzz the human'. Seals do this as fast as possible in your face underwater, and puppies do it with that final last minute swerve, and the human's eyes are always like saucers.
That's why they're called "Seehund" (which means sea-dog) in german. :D
