Internet Turns Story About Drunk Girl Stealing $2000 From Guy At Bar Into The Perfect Lesson On Rape Culture
You never know what’s going to happen when you go to the bar, someone could spill their drink on you, you could make new friends or you could have $2000 stolen from your account. A bar patron gained unintentional internet fame after a drunk woman stole the large sum of money from his Venmo account.
This bar employee kept receiving calls from a man who had been scammed by a drunk woman at their establishment

Facebook group Bitch Code picked up the story, and commenters quickly realized it was the perfect lesson on rape culture
This story is now being used to teach a very important lesson on how to treat those who have been taken advantage of
So far over 47,000 people on Facebook have shared the satirical comparison and while a lot of jokes have been made the statement behind them is a powerful one. The bar got this man his money back due to good faith in his word, however as we have seen time and time again, even with sound evidence, women continue to be mistrusted about rape allegations.
His phone case was the wallet kind, he was obviously asking for it

The problem I have with this meme is that is reduces rape to the level of material theft. They are very different things. Rape is about control and power (and lack of control and powerlessness). It is about violence and very personal. It can't be compared to transferring money out of someone's account without them being aware of it.
But it might be the best comparison that we, as women, have.
Load More Replies...Just a thought as my head hurt reading what this article attempted to pass as "news". Maybe instead of finding sarcastic ways to illustrate a problem, spend time supporting those that need it in a way that empowers them. Problems, even severe ones this article poorly tries to pass off, will always exist. My experience...and I know "a man's experience" and a white one at that (god forbid, you can run away now), my experience has shown that being understanding of those in need and providing an avenue to alleviate any shame and guilt by validating their experiences is a far more effective tool than being jaded commentors on an online site.
the difference that all these morons seem to be willingly ignoring, is that he was not accusing blindly. He knew what happened, and knew where the evidence was to prove it. Once he had the evidence, he could then take it to the appropriate authorities. He did things the way you're suppose to.
Women aren't accusing blindly either. I know who raped me and I know I wouldn't be believed.
Load More Replies...This is what the author went to college for? Lol a degree in lit is useless if this is your style of reporting. These bias and one sided gender bashing arguments are sickening. Rape and rape accusations are serious topics that should be treated as individual incidents, you can't sit here and say EVERY GUY HAS A LESSON TO LEARN ABOUT RAPE CULTURE, did he try to rape her? How is it rape culture to do the human thing and mingle at a social event? When has trying to find your soul mate been rape culture? Just quit writing already, go back and get a new degree, this one's being wasted on news articles about memes and Facebook post.
Tu Quoque is a horrible argument method. Minimizes the impact and importance and reduces insight to immature squawking
Can't there be both realities, can't we both not blame and blame some theft and rape victims? No one should have either done to them, that is so obvious it doesn't need to be said here, but saying its your right to get drunk beyond being able to care for yourself doesn't mean you are making good choices that we have to approveof. Yes it's your right, just as its my right to skydive with a discount adventure group, if my chute doesn't open, it sucks and that's it for me, but it was a known risk. If I had a decent car, I'd think twice about parking it in East St. Louis or certain parts of Chicago. Not my fault if it is stolen , but c'mon do protect yourself a little, no oneshould blackout drink alone, hand over sensitive information to a stranger, etc.
I wonder if they realize that men are victim-blamed for rape FAR more often than women? In fact, female on male rape is not even taken seriously and many places don't consider it rape at all. Remember how the founder of the #metoo movement raped that teenager? And how it disappeared from the media completely after a few days? And all the feminists and men alike were claiming it wasn't rape because he was male and he must have enjoyed it to "get it up" and that he was just looking for a payout? The hypocrisy is mind-blowing.
Its not about females or males being acused of rape. The post just shows how ridiculus is in both cases to blame the victim of a crime instead of the perpretator...

If someone rapes someone, there should be VERY high prices/punishments. That doesn't mean all guys are terrible, and for you females that say you want equality, then say all men are pigs, it's straight hypocritical.
Talk about immature and stupid....nothing like a rape alergation. This is why more and more see the #metoo movemt for the nasty hypocritical attack on men.
The first commentator was the woman who said 'Accusing a woman of robbery could ruin her life an career!' If she isn't joking, i'd just have to ask her "what about Kavanaugh?". But then again my sarcasm reader is going off.
What the actual f**k did I just read? Are people actually really saying that because some women got raped it's now okay for women to steal from men?.. That's.. .wow. Just wow.
No, you idiot. The post is reversing the situation from being raped to being stolen from. People were using all of the excuses used to dismiss rape cases, pretending to dismiss his theft case. Go back and read it again.

Stealing is never acceptable, in no situation... it is a crime... so trying to justify that thief cause it's a girl is just idiotic... ther is no excuse for this...she is just a banal criminal and i am sorry for the guy... he did not seem to do anything wrong...
No one is trying to justify theft. But how do we know it was actually theft? We only have the guy's side of the story. He *claims* she took the money without his consent but maybe he willingly sent it to her and then regretted it when she didn't call the next day?

Switch this around to a man stealing from a girl and you'd be clamouring for his head on a plate. But never miss an opportunity to ridicule a man's problems.
This is so typical of modern feminists. Any problem or complaint a man has MUST be ridiculed but if you don't take immediate action any comment from a woman you are waging a war on women.
if i guys has sex witha drunken b***h is a rape.. but if a drunk hoe robes from a man its ok ,,, cuz the man decided to drink.. f**k u all bitchesdon't want to work for their money
A lot of people here seem to be misinterpreting this situation. No one is actually victim blaming this man. They are using the situation to show how ridiculous it is to victim blame especially in the cases of rape. I see a lot of comments condemning theft outright but would probably have a (even subconscious) "well..." to add when someone says they were raped.
F**k all, I'm not sure if Bored Panda purposely trawls the internet looking for example of idiots comparing things to rape(yesterday it was the song Cold Outside) or if there are just loads of idiots doing it at the moment.
Load More Replies...I see a lot of women in that comment section. There's always three sides to a story, her side, his side, and the truth. We don't know what actually happened as we weren't there but these women need to stop victimizing themselves& it was actually $5,00. The video is on YouTube. Get your facts straight.
He was probably wearing some expensive Gucci sunglasses and an Armani coat. He was clearly asking for it and men should just dress more modestly if they don't want women to grab their bank accounts. Just stop flashing it around for all to see, then! It's just nature, they can't help wanting your money.
If the gender roles on this were reversed, these same people would want this guy dead. We are headed into a world of conditional right & wrong. A world where people 'deserve' the mistreatment of others because of their gender or skin color. A world where all of the past wrongs justify behavior and actions that hurt. I'm not hopeful for this new world. At. All.
You can say the same stuff about any accusation of a crime. At least the guy got his money back because all he did was try to figure out who stole money from him. It didn't seem like he said or did anything that seemed like he needed a lesson on consent unless there's more to the story.
Satire or not, victim blaming is wrong. All this article serves to do is to give victim blamers more ideas on how to get out of a crime.
F**K. RIGHT. OFF! Listen up you 3rd wave #metoo feminist a******s: guys have been using the "What about a guy who gets robbed because of his own stupidity, do you think he should've taken steps to prevent it?" for years and you bitches went NUTS! It was all "That's not the same as a violated body, how dare you?!" blah blah blah. On forums all over and internet articles anyone who posted that question got ripped to shreds, but now you use it? Go to hell.
Not to mention the idiot comment in the article about "ruining someone's reputation" since he was asking for video proof that it happened. That's so different from the possibility of a he said/she said lie-fest. #feministsshouldmakemeasandwich

He shouldn't have been alone. Because if he wasn't alone, this wouldn't have happened. And he willingly gave her his phone so he obviously must have wanted it
I don't think people understand what was trying to be pointed out. No one is really victim blaming this guy, and no one is condoning the thief's behavior. This was an opportunity to begin a dialogue and it has people talking. The man who was stolen from knew that theft is a crime and that he had every right to claim as such, and that he did not invite this to happen to him in any way. Society tells rape victims that maybe they didn't get raped, maybe the underwear that they were wearing means that they were asking for it. The law is so blurry about the "right" to report rape and it is terrifying to report it. The first thing the cops did when I disclosed is look me up and down and take their sweet a*s time, with discouraging attitudes then acted like I was a burden. II'm sure that
I don't think the problem is that the guy is being victim blamed, it's that Shitney's posting of her hilarious story on social media about a victim of a crime and how the woman that did it was a genius was wrong, for all the talk of rape culture male bar owners are not posting about women phoning up after being date raped(sarcastic cry emoji) and calling the guys that did it genuis.
