Pumpkin carving is so yesterday! With stores full of various fruits and vegetables, there is no excuse not to use them as an art medium.

Russian artist Dimitri Tsykalov uses apples, eggplants, watermelons, and even cabbages to create his creepy carved skulls. Interestingly, the artist lets some of the unique art pieces rot then incorporates them into photos together with the fresher pieces.[1]

Tsykalov is also famous for his creative ideas and provocative work using flesh as a medium to send environmental messages like inhumane animal treatment, food waste, and world hunger. Born in 1963 in Moscow, Russia, Dimitri now lives and works in Paris.
