Women Are Trolling Capitol Rioters By Matching With Them On Dating Apps Just To Send Their Info To The FBI
Some people who stormed the Capitol in Washington, DC are now being arrested or pursued for police questioning—and often by their own hand. Quite a few rioters used the chaos as an opportunity to take photos and snap selfies of themselves flaunting government property, sitting on furniture, or causing damage to the building.
Two of the biggest examples of “they’re not laughing now” from the riots are Adam Christian Johnson and Jake Angeli. Johnson, who was captured grinning while walking off with the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi’s, lectern, was later apprehended in Florida while Angeli, who walked around shirtless with a horned buffalo getup, was reportedly not eating while in custody because he didn’t have access to organic food.
It appears that the FBI is pursuing punishment against everyone involved in the riots and the Bureau is aggressively taking in any and all information that they can pertaining to the riots. Including dating apps.

After the insurrection, Bumble previously said that it had begun taking action against profiles promoting involvement in the riots.
“Bumble prohibits content that encourages any illegal activity. We have taken action on accounts that have violated this policy and we are monitoring activity and will remove any users that have been confirmed as participants in the attack of the US Capitol,” the dating app said in response to a concern shared on Twitter about a rioter bragging about the engagement on his Bumble profile in an interview with Bloomberg.
“We’ve always prohibited content that encourages any illegal activity including terrorism. We’ve taken action on any profiles that violate this policy and will continue to remove anyone who’s been confirmed as a participant in the attack of the US Capitol,” the company said.
But on Thursday, users began noticing that the dating app had removed its political filter, fueling accusations against Bumble that it had done so to “protect insurrectionists”.
“We’ve temporarily removed our politics filter to prevent misuse,” the company responded. “However, please rest assured that we prohibit any content that promotes terrorism or racial hatred, and we’ve already removed any users that have been confirmed as participants in the attack of the US Capitol.”

Most trolls are are sadists, narcisists and psychopaths (in the true, clinical meaning of the words). They need therapy, possibly medicines to control their illness. They won't change behaviour based on neither anger nor compassion, they are simply too ill for either to have any effect . I'm torn on this one. It seems like an easy, one sided obvious answer, but is it? What if the roles were reversed? Sure, these guys are assholes. But what if it had been used against the Women's March? BLM? If it can be used by LEOs, it can be used by ICE. Or misused by LEOs and ICE. There are always consequences, but there are also almost always unintended consequences. I think tech companies are right to protect their users as much as possible. But this is also why you'd never see actual hackers/hacktivists bragging about how they were data mining, either. If you're exploiting a system, don't go bragging about it. 😂

I am all for holding people accountable, but just because someone is conservative and/or was in DC doesn't mean that they were involved in the riots. Of the tens of thousands of people who were there only a fraction of them were actually breaking the law. Is it right to target people and waste FBI resources on those who just happened to be peacefully protesting? People are so quick to jump on others - did anyone read the story of the IL firefighter who was called out as being there when in fact he was over 600 miles away - just because a photo kind of looked like him? His life is ruined because someone didn't bother to check facts before they started posting all over the internet. I get the outrage, and I am right there with you that people need to be held accountable, but don't let this become the new equivalent of "walking while black" - it sets a dangerous precedent.
Yes, and No. It isn't wasting FBI resources, the FBI is actively asking for this sort of information. If they look into the person and find out "yup, the guy just stood outside and protested. He's allowed to do that. Next"... all is good. His life isn't ruined by being investigated by the FBI. Posting his picture on social media? THAT is a problem. The FBI might believe in "innocent until proven guilty", but the social media crowd is more than happy to hang someone without evidence. I agree, the people who entered the capitol, those who stole or vandalised, and those who were violent are plainly criminals. HOWEVER, there were many peaceful supporters there. Because the BLM protesters didn't storm the Capitol during a joint session of Congress with weapons and zip ties and the intention of preventing the certification of the results of a free and fair election. That is straight up domestic terrorism. Nothing the BLM protesters did even comes close to that.

I do believe those who stormed the building should be held accountable for their actions. Sending in information to the FBI is just that...sending in info. They will be looked into and if they did nothing, they have nothing to worry about. You seem to think that sending a tip to the authorities means automatic persecution or something, that is far from the case.
They participated in an armed attempt to attack the Capitol. That is breaking the law. Breaking the law should be punished and bragging about breaking the law should be reported to the appropriate authorities. The "political beliefs" here are terrorism. It's not a difference of opinion.
I'm kinda mixed on the whole thing. I definitely think the ones causing trouble should be caught and punished. They probably won't be arrested if just there. But they can tell by peoples clothing and match their faces to the trouble makers. We have video after video of the idiots storming the capital. Sending the profiles to the FBI does not immediately incriminate them, it launches an investigation to determine whether they participated in the violence or not. Also, there's a HUGE difference between someone at a Trump rally (someone who endorses violence, bigotry, & the spread of misinformation) & someone who participates in BLM (someone who wants equal rights for BIPOC who may be in the same place as opportunistic looters looking to frame BLM).

Most trolls are are sadists, narcisists and psychopaths (in the true, clinical meaning of the words). They need therapy, possibly medicines to control their illness. They won't change behaviour based on neither anger nor compassion, they are simply too ill for either to have any effect . What I don't get is why the so-called staff here does not ban them, maybe they find it entertaining.

I'm torn on this one. It seems like an easy, one sided obvious answer, but is it? What if the roles were reversed? Sure, these guys are assholes. But what if it had been used against the Women's March? BLM? If it can be used by LEOs, it can be used by ICE. Or misused by LEOs and ICE. There are always consequences, but there are also almost always unintended consequences. I think tech companies are right to protect their users as much as possible. But this is also why you'd never see actual hackers/hacktivists bragging about how they were data mining, either. If you're exploiting a system, don't go bragging about it. 😂

I am all for holding people accountable, but just because someone is conservative and/or was in DC doesn't mean that they were involved in the riots. Of the tens of thousands of people who were there only a fraction of them were actually breaking the law. Is it right to target people and waste FBI resources on those who just happened to be peacefully protesting? People are so quick to jump on others - did anyone read the story of the IL firefighter who was called out as being there when in fact he was over 600 miles away - just because a photo kind of looked like him? His life is ruined because someone didn't bother to check facts before they started posting all over the internet. I get the outrage, and I am right there with you that people need to be held accountable, but don't let this become the new equivalent of "walking while black" - it sets a dangerous precedent.
Yes, and No. It isn't wasting FBI resources, the FBI is actively asking for this sort of information. If they look into the person and find out "yup, the guy just stood outside and protested. He's allowed to do that. Next"... all is good. His life isn't ruined by being investigated by the FBI. Posting his picture on social media? THAT is a problem. The FBI might believe in "innocent until proven guilty", but the social media crowd is more than happy to hang someone without evidence. Heck the guy could be fired from his job and have all sorts of real life consequences because of this post. Blur his face and let the professionals find out if he is an actual bad guy or not.

I agree, the people who entered the capitol, those who stole or vandalised, and those who were violent are plainly criminals. HOWEVER, there were many peaceful supporters there. Because the BLM protesters didn't storm the Capitol during a joint session of Congress with weapons and zip ties and the intention of preventing the certification of the results of a free and fair election. That is straight up domestic terrorism. Nothing the BLM protesters did even comes close to that.
It could have happened... if someone who opposed the BLM protests was smart they could have pulled this stunt off too. But that would require them being smart. Some crimes did happen during BLM (trivial crimes compared to trying to overthrow a government, but crimes none the less).
