Little Girl Born With A White Patch Of Hair Which Is Exactly The Same As Her Mum’s
We’re not sure what the odds are of four people in one family having the same white patch of hair, but we’re pretty sure they’re pretty slim. Still, that’s exactly what happened when little MilliAnna Worthy from Ridgeland, South Carolina, was born. The little girl, now 18 months old, has the same distinctive genetic inheritance as her mother, Brianna, as well as her grandmother and great-grandmother.
The white locks are caused by poliosis, a condition that creates a lack of pigment in the hair and surrounding skin. “We are unsure how far back the hair color and skin discoloration goes as my grandmother was adopted as a child and hasn’t met her biological family,” Brianna told the Daily Mail. “I was hoping she did have it. My younger sister that my mother had a few years after me didn’t get it, so I didn’t know if MilliAnna was going to, but once I had my beautiful baby and they laid her on my chest, and I saw she had it I was so happy.”

Little MilliAnna was born with the same unique white fringe as her mom
And it looks even more awesome 18 months later!

“We are unsure how far back the birthmark goes as my grandmother was adopted as a child and hasn’t met her biological family,” Brianna said
“I was hoping she did have it. My younger sister that my mother had a few years after me didn’t, so I didn’t know if MilliAnna was going to”
“But once I had her and they laid her on my chest and I saw she had it I was so happy”
“I grew to end up really loving it in my hair and was confident that it was my own unique signature look”
“I plan to raise my daughter knowing she is beautiful and special and to not listen to people mean comments at times”

Share on FacebookI'm a kid, and I can say pretty much everyone I know would think this is SUPER COOL and nothing to be ashamed of. Maybe there are some jerks out there who will tease her, but then she'll be able to find out who her true friends are!
OMGz!!!! Mommy is beautiful and that baby is absolutely gorgeous!! I can't wait until her superpowers develop!!
celebrate our differences. gorgeous family. i hope the little girl embraces it and runs with it and never changes.
Omgz!!! Mommy is beautiful, and that baby is absolutely adorable! I'm waiting for her superpowers to develop!!
on the sixth pic from the top(where she sits on the edge of don't-know-english-name-of-it) she's sooo ADORABLE. the smile is priceless. my daughter was smiling like that on every picture as soon as she had enough teeth to brag with. also to the subject of this article: that's unique and beautiful. also fhe fact that they have it on the fringe and not on some random place is very nice. i'd love to "suffer" from such condition.
Wow! Now we know! My grandmother had a white patch, my mom, and then me,. I'm in my 70s and we never knew what it was that caused the condition, we just thought hereditary,, so great to know what it is!
I have the same mark, I got it from my mom, who's mother gave it to her. I then gave it to 2 of my 3 kids. My oldest daughter has it and my 3 grand daughters from her were born with it too.
Hi Tina, I do as well as many in my family. If you haven't found the Piebaldism page on Facebook, you should look up us. Hundreds of folks from around the country with it!
Load More Replies...We have a page on Facebook, Piebaldism, it is not well know by doctors. We have a group of over 600 with the same from all over the world.
She's so cute. I've seen people with the discolored skin but never the hair. She's beyond adorable stay confident little sweetie. You will be as pretty as your mommy when you grow up.
I had a friend in school who had dark glossy black hair ... and a white streak. No one was mean to her about it ever to my knowledge. When we went to High School, we found our room teacher/English teacher also had a white streak in much the same place ! Does it always happen in the front of the head like this little girl and her family ? It was in exactly the same place with my teacher and friend too .. ie right in front like that !
A friend of mine has the same thing. Even when she dyed her hair that spot would remain white. It will not hold color
Wow.I 💘 IT! People pay for a unique look line that. I just absolutely love seeing pictures where they're together and you can see it! My fav pic was the one of her at her youngest
HOw can anyone NOT live this? This is just soooooo beautiful. And that little lady is absolutely rocking it.
🥺 Que hermoso! En mi familia tenemos por genética ese mechón blanco 😍 con la diferencia que yo lo saque poco, mi bebe si lo saco bastante y se le ve hermoso😍😍😍
I have a blonde patch in my hair that is a birth mark so I think that is cute
This is the best post I have read today... God bless these big and little angels😍
How could anybody say mean things. I think your hair and your daughters hair make you extra special. My son was born with a wonky eyebrow and we say it's a kiss from his grandma (my mom) that has passed on. Maybe it's a kiss from a very special ancestor that has long passed on. It's a very special kiss. I'm glad you are so proud of it. You and your daughter are beautiful. Enjoy your world
It is very cute on Mom and baby. As long as it is a harmless condition, why not flaunt their uniqueness?
oh, its kinda like Waardenburg syndrome that Stef has (the youtuber, look up her video if curious)
My family has the white patches and white hair and it goes back generations! We are a very large family and I would say there must be at least 35 to forty of us and increasing every year and it's the first thing we all look for when a new born arives its just amazing it makes you feel very spiecal ! So we know how you must feel 😁 The HOWARD family from NORFOLK
I have a mild form of it. But it's hardly noticeable on my blonde hair. Also, my lighter streak is underneath the rest of it, so it really can't be seen unless I point it out. I also have a patch on my back where the skin is lighter. It's small, but noticeable.
I have this birthmark as well, as do all three of my children and many others in my family. It is called Piebaldism, Look it up on Facebook and you will see an entire page with people all over the world with it. We like to say that we were kissed by an angel! Family-Pic...ded0c0.jpg
No it is not Waardenburg syndrome, it's call Piebaldism. Look up the page on Facebook. Waardenburg and Vitaligo are common miss diagnosis. I know because I have it. Waardenburg is symptomatically also comes along with deafness, blindness, two different colored eyes and widely spaced eyes, and other health issues, which none of us have.
Load More Replies...Its called Waardenburg syndrome. It is hereditary. So the odds of this happening were 50-100%.

We've always called this the "birthmark". It runs in my family also. My dad had it along with his sisters. My sister and a lot of my cousins have this "birthmark". Not unusual to us.
Nikki, , Its called Pidbaldism, I have it too, look up the page on Facebook, hundreds from around the world with it.
Load More Replies...I was born with the same distinct birthmark. I also have the white pigment in various areas on my body. My 2nd born son has the same markings...so does his 2 sons. It is a hereditary oddity.

So seriously cute! I love their hair! Best part is, they don't have to pay a stylist
My sister in law and her little girl have it, as well as my father in law and his sister and their mom. So its gone down 4 generations so far. I know that my niece got teased growing up. People tease when they are not educated.
My 3 sisters and 2 brothers have inherited a white forlock from our father but being blonde when younger it didnt stand out till we all older and greyer. We all love our grey forlocks now as they add interest to our grey hair
There's also something called the waardenburg syndrome. My whole family has it. It's a white streak with patches of two toned skin. I've know about this for a long time now. It's common in our family. Glad people say it's beautiful because people would not get near some of my family members because everyone thought it was a disease.
Diane, Waardenburg was a misdiagnosis that I received as well, it is not. If you have people with deafness, blindness, widely spaced eyes, two different colored eyes, etc, that is Waardenburg. If not, it is Piebaldisim. Look it up on Facebook, there is a page with hundreds from around the country with it.

Such an amazing story! I LOVE IT! And I think its beautiful! Wish I had one!!!
Because she is just gorgeous! So what's your problem?

It's not called Whitlock Syndrome, It's called Piebaldism, I know because I have it. It is commonly misdiagnosed as Waardenburg Syndrome or Vitiligo, but I have never heard of Whitlock Syndrome!
Load More Replies...That's very sweet and all, but this unusual "birthmark" is a marker of a few genetic diseases, most commonly Waardenburg syndrome. This baby needs to be evaluated to rule out a few diseases before we can all go back to admiring her!
What??? so we can't "admire" her until she is medically proven fit? What kind of monster are you???
Load More Replies...Ironically it's 2016 and in America people dye their hair to whatever color they want. A white patch of hair on a baby isn't such a big deal to see.
Load More Replies...“I plan to raise my daughter knowing she is beautiful and special and to not listen to people mean comments at times” - I don't think it's that mean. Indeed she will be self-conscious, but her mother knows that and she seems to have good plans already. It will be tough, but she'll grow even tougher. Best wishes for this family.
