I Draw What It’s Like To Be In A Long Distance Relationship
My boyfriend and I have been in a long distance relationship for 3 years now.
I decided to capture what it’s like to be in a long distance relationship for us through drawings. My style of illustration was inspired by British Illustrator Philippa Rice’s comic “Soppy”.
Being in love with someone who is far away can be tough. But when you know that you are with the one, even the toughest times are worth it. Being in a long distance relationship means…

Contantly missing your loved one
Birthdays and holidays are especially hard
Poor internet connection drives you insane on the regular
But you know it’s worth it, because talking to them makes your day
Sometimes, random things trigger up memories of them that make you smile (or cry…)
Flying out to see each other is not always easy
But when you manage to put together a plan, it’s the most exciting thing in the world!
Counting down the days becomes your favourite activity and gives you a daily jolt of happiness
The day you get to go to the airport is the best day ever!
When you finally see that specially someone, no words can describe your joy!
Having been apart makes you appreciate every moment you have together
Everything is so comfortable that sometimes it feels like you were never apart
The night before they have to leave again is the toughest…
But it’s ok because you know that distance means so little when someone means so much
Until you see each other again soon!

Me (Korean-Korea) and My boyfriend (Taiwanese-USA) have been dating 6 years by this way. haha I'm surprised that it is absolutely same!!!! We are planing to marry next year. This drawing really cheers us up! :)
This nearly made me cry! It's so damned true. Countdown currently at 27 days...
I am from Croatia and my boyfriend is from Poland, and that was hard time for us to be separated, coming to me and going back to Poland..so, we decided to live together in United Kingdom..i think that nobody is happy more than we are :) Never give up from real love :)
That was so true and reminiscent of the two most romantically excruciating years of my life. Maurice & Sâmira 2008 - 2009
I am in a long distance relationship... not that long (i live in Havana and she lives in another cuban city), but transport and communication in my country aren't the best (pretty bad, actually), so we cannot do skype, 1 hour of talk costs us almost one day of work... We can, sometimes, share pictures or short videos via email, at work, though.... And as we live in the same country, we manage to meet once or twice a month...
I've tried the long distance one.. It was the most miserable time in my life. We live together in his country now, have done for the last 12 years. They've been the happiest years of my life :) I do sometimes miss my own country and my my family, of course. But I love it here and we are still like newly weds. My best decision ever to move over.
This is the only one of these types of posts that I've seen which I feel really does show how it is to be in this situation. Made me smile
