My Dog Blocks The Door To Prevent Me From Leaving. Every Morning
How did this get even more upvotes than a kitten picture? This is amazing!
Kitten From A Kitten Rescue Photo Shoot I Did Ages Ago
That little baby has/had just barely started seeing the world…like one day earlier at best. You can tell from the way its eyes aren’t actually focused on anything. Also, the round ears. So, 10 days old?
Could you guess the age of my kitten Mary? This was taken a few minutes before we decided to take him in :) he could walk but would stumble every few seconds, the vet said his foot and tail had been run over by something heavy. Don’t worry, he has healed completely now. 83F606B8-5...4-jpeg.jpg
Thank you I use to be now an an illustrator

The nose and as the photographer I can scientifically confirm was deeply boopable z

Common Starling In A Blossoming Plum Tree. Spring Is Here
I’m an avid birder, but I loathe European starlings; they’re overly aggressive and displace native birds. (I feel much more kindly about other starlings that live in their native ranges. There are some real beauties out there!)

Fox In My Yard - So Cute, Let Me Get Super Close
You know, if a fox lets you get close, that's usually not a good thing... Still, a beautiful picture.
well... close enough to take some pics at least! we too were concerned that there might be something wrong with it, spent the better part of that afternoon napping in our yard! its fur looked patchy as well, can kinda see it on the butt/tail... but i believe foxes do molt? we still see them around, think their den is in our neighbor's yard. they seem healthy enough!

Huge Hawk Took A Nice, Long Bath In A Puddle On Our Son's Kiddie Pool Cover - Wouldn't Leave
Where was this photo taken (geographically speaking)…I’d love to ID it, but the world is a big, big place, so narrowing it down to a general location would definitely help!
we live in connecticut (US - not sure where you are in this big, wide world!) so i think red tailed hawks are most common? but some look pretty similar to me... hard to tell them apart from cooper's, etc. here's another angle if it helps - very curious to know exactly what this beauty of a bird is! hawk-2-624...2e546a.jpg
This looks an AWFUL lot like a Cooper's Hawk, or a Sharp Shinned Hawk... They have that dark barred tail like that. To better ID it, seeing the front would be helpful. If this one nests nearby, keep an eye out for its mate (they mate for life) and look at the diff in size. If this one is bigger, it's the female, and if it's smaller, it's the male.
cool, thanks for the info guys! they do actually nest in one of our trees and give us a very loud baby to listen to every year! and i always wondered if it was the same couple... sounds like it might be! this one was definitely the smaller of the two so i guess it's papa. wish i had better pics for you but they're screenshots from a video, never really showed me his tummy!

What a beauty! What’s its name and how old is it…it looks young. Also, in what way is it handicapped?
She, like many of my cats was dumped on me. She was only 4wks old. (My dog found her and was thrilled). But one of my cats is a TNR from a shelter. When the kitten was exploring the kitchen the other cat jumped off the counter and bit her on the back of her neck. Without breaking the skin, she still managed to get all 4 fangs into her spinal cord. The pressure caused some paralysis. While she can get up on her back toes, she can't straighten her wrists and elbows. So she either slides with her " forearms" on a smooth surface or lifts them up from her shoulders on other surfaces. Even so, she will jump off the bed. Twice daily I give her PT to keep her circulation good in her front legs. She goes almost everywhere with me. Which she loves. Not bothered by noise or people. Hates all dogs other than mine, and they are best freinds. Her name is Teebeetoo. My dogs initials are TB. And you don't have to believe me, but the look on his face said, name her after me? She will be 3 in

That Praying Mantis can eat that hummingbird.... I have seen videos on YouTube and it's horrifying....so not let them roost on your hummingbird feeders ever.....cool insects - not good for those sweet little birds.....
Saw that, too. I would be swatting the little bastard off my feeder!
Load More Replies...If you ever doubt the existence of Aliens...have a good close up look at a praying mantis eating. . Interesting but gruesome!
From what I understand praying mantis will catch and eat hummingbirds. The really awful part of it is that the grip of the praying mantis really really strong. So if they catch something they are usually eating it while it is still alive, especially something like a bird
It’s a good thing hummingbirds are such pugnacious little creatures! Do you know what kind of hummer it is? (The lighting impairs my ability to ID it.)
That's a female ruby-throated hummingbirb. The females don't have the shiny red namesake neck, but the territorial ferocity that they are known for is 100% there!

An adorable little Long-tailed Tit; window strikes are second only to cat-related deaths that shortens a bird’s life. Birds don’t see the window itself, only the reflections in the window, so it literally knocks itself out and then either dies on the spot or a little while later from the concussion. It helps to have blinds or curtains, but it’s completely understandable that people want to be able to see their views. There are products available for people who would rather not be responsible for avian deaths. Check out these options https://www.duncraft.com/Window-Strike-Solutions?view_all . 🦜🕊🦜🕊🦜
It was absolutely fine, just a bit shocked ig. Really good ideas!
Load More Replies...If you find a bird like this, just take it, really slow and put it in a dark box (cardboard or something, with breathing holes) and leave it at a quiete place for about half an hour. If it is still alive after this, it might survive when you set it free, just don't touch it afterwards. Most little birds die of the shock, wether from the window collision or from being touched by humans 'to be saved'.
Unfortunately, this behavior often means they had a concussion. A concussion messes up their balance so they can't fly, which is why they just sit there. This is generally fatal, at least to smaller birds 😢 no idea how it is for larger birds. They get better for a while and a couple of hours or maybe a day later the just drop dead. This is what the vet told me when I nursed a Pilfink (duno what it's English name is) when I was about 11.

Took This At A Drive Through Safari. A Little Later, The Female Swatted The Male Round The Head
I wonder if they have spiked penises like house cats ouch *opens google
They do. If you ever see lions mating and the female flops over on her side after it's because of the pain in her uterus (I think). You prolly already googled this tho Edit: from Zambia tourism The mating behaviour of lions is a painful process for the female. The penis is barbed and its withdrawal hurts the female who may twist around and attack the dismounting male. The pain is necessary for feline mating as it is the shock to her system that induces ovulation and permits fertilization. https://www.zambiatourism.com/about-zambia/wildlife/lion/

Interestingly he tucked his wings before he hit the windsheild. Left a smudge if dust, but protected his wings. The squirrel didn't make it. And I still feel bad for not picking up the hawks lunch for him.

The ducks (we have a family of mallards who come to visit every spring and summer) are not in the picture and no her leash does not break of. But that's not an issue since she is trained and has never tried to chase them.

Cheetah Has A Stress Dog
This is actually very common practice! The cheetah bonds with the dog as a kit and pup! They get along very well 99 percent of times and are supervised long before they are left alone completely. The dog is purrfectly safe with this big guy. (Realize this is a joke but there are many who dont know this and may be honestly concerned) The dogs help with anxiety with big cats and help give them a playmate to bond with and play with to get rid of excess (potentially harmful to themselves or their caretakers) energy. Most bonding dogs are labs due to there friendly to people and animals nature. This helps the cats get used to people better and helps their caretakers (human trainers / feeders) no be at risk when entering and exiting the exhibit due to an emergency or to train.

Dolphin Swimming Standing Up
To all the comments below I both agree and disagree. Dolphins are smart and playful animals they need a partner in the pool which as I see this pool lacks. The size of this pool needs some improvement but over all it is not 100 percent bad to keep a dolphin in a pool. This is not a great example. A dolphin enclosure should have at least 2-10 dolphin. It should have a real reef and should have many games and toys in the water. Rafts are a great addition! Dolphins love to come above water and float almost as much as you do! Have some other sea life that is big enough to not be eaten or be a danger and have plenty of swimming room! Dolphins also should only be kept for rehab preferably. But some (ex winter. Rip) cannot go back to sea because A they are to hurt or B they were hurt in the crucial phase when growing up and cant hunt. Again this pool lacks much of this but dont hate on all aquariums for this!
Dolphins are incredibly smart and emotionally complex, and it pains me to see one imprisoned this way.
While this can be sad we would not have the love and appreciation of these animals if we hadn't gone to a facility like this ti see them. People are still alive that had rotary phones. Technology had made seeing these beings easier but it wasn't always this easy.
I never went to a facility like this to see them and still love them and don't want any facilities to hold them like this. Most facilities train them with food deprivation and the chlorine water is really bad for their skin, eyes and stomache.
