Heart-Gripping Photos Show A Man Taking His Sick Dog For ‘One Final Adventure’ In A Wheelbarrow
We think it’s fair to say that sometimes in life, one has to understand and learn when and how to let go. Today we’d like to share with you a very special and heart-gripping story. It’s a story about Carlos Fresco and his ten-year-old labradoodle Monty who had been through a lot together, especially within the last year and a half. As sad as it is, Carlos was there for his soon-to-pass canine and stayed by his side until his very last breath.
Unfortunately, for the last 18 months, Monty had been fighting and struggling with leukaemia. Carlos told Brecon’s Radnor: “I knew Monty was dying as his cancer had returned. He was diagnosed 18 months ago and responded very well to chemotherapy. But unfortunately, his leukaemia returned eight weeks ago and he declined very rapidly.”
Fresco knew Monty didn’t have much time left, and knowing that, he decided that the best way to say goodbye would be by sharing one last journey together. Carlos took Monty to the peak of Pen y Fan in Brecon Beacons, Wales, for their last trip together.

“He loved hill walks and we improvised and took him on trips around these wonderful beacons”

“He loved hill walks and we improvised and took him on trips around your wonderful beacons. Although he was weak he enjoyed all the fuss and attention received by so many well-wishers. People on the hills were so kind and equally so sad at his deteriorating condition. In fact, total strangers asked if they could share in pushing Monty on his last journey – many total strangers shed a tear as we all love dearly our little four-legged friends.” Carlos told the local newspaper Brecon’s Radnor.
They even travelled up to the peak of Pen y Fan

“I would like very much to thank them all for their support, encouragement and genuine concern over Monty,” said Carlos

“That little guy touched so many lives. Made everyone he came into contact with smile and just take a moment to reflect how sometimes life’s not that bad”

“Our little companions are never judgemental, are always there waiting for you and offer comfort when things haven’t gone well”

Unfortunately, Monty’s health declined over the week and he died on the 21st of June

“Monty passed away at the foot of my bed on Monday morning. Aged ten. The little fella hung on for Father’s Day and is now at peace” Fresco shared

“I would like to thank all the wonderful people that we met in Brecon and on the hills for their true kindness and genuine sympathy.
He was truly a special boy. God bless and goodnight little fella.” Carlos told in an interview with Brecon Radnor.

Share on FacebookThis brings me to tears. Losing our best friends is so painful, I’m happy he was able to go on one last journey with you.

Load More Replies...I'm so sorry for your loss, it is always so sad to let a friend go to an illness. I had to let my little friend, Buster, go 8 years ago as he had the same illness - he was only 7 and up to six months previously had been a lively, happy, boisterous chap who loved nothing more than chasing Squirrels and Rabbits for hours on end (mostly unsuccessfully !!). Still miss him now. Buster-60e...9d218e.jpg
Of course that's the only thing to do, they deserve happy endings. sius-chari...61d438.jpg
I lost my 13 yr old dog last year. I'm so sorry for your loss, it hurts so much to lose a best friend. Crying while I read this.
I want to cry because it's so sweet. You gave your family member the best ending possible! I absolutely love your story!!!
What a wonderful, loving thing to do for Monty. And a wonderful thing to do for yourself knowing the grief was approaching. The pictures are amazing. How wonderful the love Monty received from strangers even. I am so sorry that you are without Monty. But you gave him such an amazing gift and I believe he knew it.
I'm not crying!!!! What an amazing dog dad. Rest In Peace pup. May your after life been full of zoomies, treats, and tennis balls.
So sorry for your loss, you loved Monty deeply, as I do my pets, Monty looks very much, like my Danny, many years ago, but to this day, it's still hurts, he was very special, affectionate and so smart, I adopted him from a shelter, his last few days, unable to go upstairs, so I slept on the floor with him, he had slept on my bed, I cried for days !!!
I just lost my wonderful boy a month ago, he was nearly 16 years old. Life isn’t the same with out him x
lost my boy Spike (cat not dog but was loved just as much. he was fine on the Friday we lost him on the Monday at 5.17pm last October. Just so glad that we got to spend loads of time with him and his sister for his last few months) thoughts and kind thoughts to you.
i love this story but i cant get myself to actually open it and read it.... dogs and death are my kryptonite
Thank you for sharing this most intimate and tender story. The passing of a treasured friend, be it human or canine, can leave such a painful void. I hope you've been able to fill that hole with these endearing memories and that reflecting on them and the love-filled life you shared with your friend fills that void with peaceful comfort.
I have so many tears I can hardly see the screen. I wish I could have done that for my poor Grissom. I am mostly housebound and the outside if his life was our backyard. He died in my arms He started to howl in pain then he was gone. We buried him in his backyard. I'm so sorry for you loss, you did a beautiful thing for him - keep his memory close to your heart forever.
