Do Small Foot Tattoos Hurt?

If you’re thinking of getting these small tattoo ideas on your foot, you must be prepared for the pain you might experience. Foot tattoos hurt, I mean, all tattoos hurt, of course. However, small side foot tattoos or ones on top of the feet are often more painful. This is because the skin in that area is thin and full of nerve endings. This increased sensitivity can lead to more pain. You can do a few things to prepare and make things easier:

How to Prepare Before Getting a Tattoo

• Get enough sleep so your body is well-rested and can handle the pain better.
• Don’t take pain relievers like aspirin or ibuprofen for 24 hours before your session because they can thin your body and affect the tattooing process.
• Avoid getting tattoos when you feel sick because it can heighten your pain sensitivity.
• Drink enough water to hydrate your skin because tattooing on dry skin is painful.
• Make sure to eat a complete meal before your session to prevent dizziness.
• Don’t drink alcohol for at least 24 hours before and after your tattooing process because it can dehydrate and thin your blood.
• Distract yourself by listening to music, reading a book, or checking out these funny tattoo memes.
• Check whether your artist will use numbing cream, which can lessen the pain.

Lastly, don’t hesitate to tell your tattoo artist if you are in too much pain and need a break.
