How do you fight Nazis? With a 485-pound bear. That’s a sure way to scare your enemies!

That’s exactly what a group of Polish soldiers did in the middle east, where they found a bear cub that they raised. Eventually, he was taught to salute, and would carry artillery for the soldiers. Given the rank of Private, he was soon quite the member of the team during the war. Living the rest of his remaining life well kept at Edinburgh Zoo in Scottland – he will always be remembered in stone as the Bear who went to war!
