I ended up falling in love with Slovenia.  The people, the culture, the entire country was amazing.  The capital city Ljubljana is a place not to be missed while traveling the Balkan’s.

The Magic that is Slovenia

Entering into the Balkan’s was a total random choice for me.

I had this whole idea that I was going to go north into Germany and then to the UK but alas, a quick train ride changed that whole idea for me, and I am so glad it did.

The cubes at Central Hotel

I get into Slovenia and get off a train and after a bit of a walk at night I found the Central Hotel…and believe me was well beyond all my expectations.

The check in was at the rooftop with a nice bar and restaurant there…the people were amazing as soon as I was there.
And the cubes were awesome!  Much more on Central Hotel here on my website.

Straight from the Glacier

I ended up falling in love with Slovenia.  The people, the culture, the entire country was amazing.  The capital city Ljubljana is a place not to be missed while traveling the Balkan’s.

Ljubljana is the capital city of Slovenia, as well as it’s largest.  Downtown is lined with outdoor cafe’s surrounding the Ljubljana river.  Tivoli Park is a great spot to relax and chill.  Also in close proximity to many museums.  The triple bridge over the Ljubljana river is a must see.  The architecture all around is amazing and inviting.

Something very strange and new to me was that you could drink the water straight from a tap or even one of the many fountains surrounding the city as it comes direct from the clean and pristine Glaciers.

View from Central Hotel Ljubljana, Slovenia

Since the view from the rooftop of Central hotel gave me one hell of a view of Ljubljana Castle I decided was a good idea to start there.  The castle gave me good insight to the history of Ljubljana with views above and beyond:)

The square and so much more

Triple Bridge

A quick trip over to the Triple Bridge that was constructed initially in 1842, but then fully completed in 1932 by Joze Plecnik.  A group of three bridges, they connect Ljubljana’s historical, medieval, town on one bank, and the modern city of Ljubljana on the other.

Statues and art abound in Ljubljana, Slovenia

Amazing architecture as well as some really cool statues surrounding the triple bridge with shops and restaurants all around.

A fun run to the top of Ljubljana Castle

Cathedral ceiling

I finally found a cathedral I could’ve enjoy not only the artwork but the overall empathic and energetic feel within.  This place was pure, and very good and healing spot. I spent some time there really taking in the place.  Originally a gothic church it was replaced with a Baroque Church in the 18th Century.  Honestly this cathedral was amazing….and beautiful.

Kranjska Gora

Kranjska Gora :

Being situated in the Julian Alps it is primarily knows as a winter sports town.  It annually hosts an event in the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup for the slalom and giant slalom events.

Kranjska Gora

Being able to drink the water right from the source was an extreme pleasure within itself.  It flows throughout Slovenia so you can drink the tap water as well with no issues.

Kresovanje on Roznik Hill

The celebration known as Kresovanje is held on the 30th of April.  Rooted in pagan traditions with much deeper meaning as part of the cult of the sun.  Setting up fire in Spring time should help the sun to achieve its full power to shine.  It is also setup on the night before May 1st to commemorate the social and economical achievements of workers rights.  And is a major holiday for all Slovenians.
