What If Lord Of The Rings Was All Dogs? This Twitter Thread Has An Answer (18 Pics)
Have you ever thought about what Lord of the Rings would look like if every single actor suddenly grew fluffy ears and a tail and were way more interested in playing fetch than bringing the Ring to Mordor? Well, this Twitter account sure has. The user known as Lady K picked out dogs that look the most like the characters from one of the most popular fantasy movies ever. Lady K shared how she came up with this idea: "I think someone said an Afghan hound looked like Saruman, and it prompted the rest." There are 18 epic characters and 18 adorable fluffers that look just like them.
What do you think of these mashups? Do you agree or would you pick some other breeds for these characters? Tell us in the comments and don't forget to upvote your favorite duo!

Samwise Gamgee
We love Sam! Gardening is a good profession especially if you need to hide a body.

Here are some facts on LOTR for you. The Lord of the Rings was written by J.R.R. Tolkien and published on July 29th, 1954. It was a sequel to the Hobbit, which was published in 1937. Since then, the books have been regarded as one of the greatest works of fiction, with fantasy lovers all over the world knowing LOTR.
Saruman
Gandalf The Gray
OMG that's so cute. is that dog an irish wolfhound? my friend has one and it is huge
The first movie was released in 2001, with the other two following the next two years. The movies were an absolute hit and started a new era for fantasy. The Hobbit movies were released in 2012, 2013, and 2014 and were also well-received, with both of the franchises racking up around $3 billion in the box offices.
Gollum
I was thinking Gollum could be some kind of sphynx cat but that doggy is perfect too.
Aragorn
I was about to be surprised if you didn't comment on this, but nope, you're here ^^
Load More Replies...Lady K is obviously a fan of LOTR and has come up with the original idea to give the characters doggy counterparts. If you scroll through Lady K's social media, you can see that she is very passionate about today's issues, like inequality and Black Lives Matter. On her Twitter, she writes a little more about herself: "Feminist. Artist. Writer. Agnostic. Mother of neurodivergent daughters. Owner of Small Dog & Boy Dog. Here to rage against the dying of the light."
Galadriel
She's so much smarter than an Afghan, though. Maybe a Weimeriener? Silver, sleek, smart
Boromir
No, don’t kill the dog! Sean Bean does not simply survive a movie.
this is beautiful but its sad that he died. this dog would also fir faramir
ummm... That'a a golden retriever. or are you saying that he would be a finnish spitz?

Merry And Pippin
These are very beautiful dogs. Pip and Merry are a little more obnoxious but.... it’s awesome
Gimli
Faramir
A chance for Faramir, the Captain of Dogdor, to show his quality!
Éowyn And Faramir
I love how in the end they got married so eowyns broken heart was mended because Aragorn told her they could never be together
Elfs
My grandmother gifted my mom a black pug puppy who mom named Frodo! His pug picture on here should be changed to my pug since they have the same name and the pup is still a pug, just a black pug instead of a fawn pug. We got him in 2004, one day before my very first surgery and three days before Christmas, so right on the Solstice of that year. He passed in 2018, but he was the best little brother and care companion. I still miss him to this day.
Ummm, according to Tolkien, elves is spelled "e-l-v-e-s"
BWahahahahahha... it's terrible but just... the angle... and the poses... make them look **so judgemental**...
Legolas
I don't mean this to be rube but that dog has a loooong nose (still cute though)
Borzois ARE beautiful dogs... I agree... all the legs and grace (Greyhound grouping, like with the Afghan Hounds)... but curly haired... I can understand the similarity. You need delicate 'elfin' features... BUT ... also smooth long and straight flowing locks... dangit... Afghan hounds are elves.
Yes they are. And is this another dog fanatic because you sound like me...
Load More Replies...I think a more clean cut, sharper face dog breed, like Weimaraner or Rhodesian ridgeback
Éomer
omg. I wonder what Karl Urban thinks of this...I got an autograph from him at a Con once... I blurted out that my sister in law had seen him eating at a particular cafe every day (he was filming in town at the time) and commented on him looking constantly constipated... and he gave me this one-eyebrow raised look...so now to be compared to a Boxer...
Arwen
Éowyn
I have to disagree too. Eowyn is too much of a badass to be depicted as a cute/sad-eyed puppy.
Yeah she is too awesome for a tiny lapdog. Maybe a light coloured German shepherd or something badass.
Load More Replies...definitely the type of dog who would cut off the head of a nazgul before killing a ring wraith...sarcasm
A Nazgul is a ringwraith. The creature that it rode on was simply called a fell beast.
Load More Replies...Elrond
Frodo Baggins
YOU ARE TELLING ME THE PROTAGONIST OF THIS LEGENDARY STORY IS A PUGGGGGG?!??!?!??!?!???
Nope. I own a pug and no way would she walk to Morder even if Sam carried her. But they are a lot like hobbits now that I think about it......
Dear all, maybe unrelated to the article, but I sincerely want to thank you for being the best community! I'm so glad to have discovered BP and have learned much from you all. I wish you the best New Year and a very happy and wonderful 2021!!!! 💋🎄🌈💐🖖
Okay if you're just trying to match the looks of the movie actors. It would be harder, and more interesting, to match breed characteristics with the characters ,
OMG I LOVE IT. the Aragorn one is my fave. Aragorn is one of my fave characters and he is amazing
Too many are going on the actor's appearance and not on the character's personality.
