Artist Uses Vintage Textiles To Create Sculptures Of Dogs, And The Result Is Surprisingly Beautiful

Helen Thompson, also known as Holy Smoke, is a UK-based artist who creates stunning dog sculptures out of unexpected materials. These unique canines are completely handcrafted and made using wire, natural linen, and vintage textiles by layering them all to make threadbare textures with hanging threads.
The imperfections of the materials and their raw edges make the sculptures look animated, and also, as the author says on her website, they “illustrate the human hand through an emotive process in an attempt to represent the unique spirit, fragility, and character of the animals in their diverse forms and circumstances.” The sculptures are quite different in size, starting at 20cm (sitting position), and the highest being 60cm in height (standing). These sculptures have SO much heart...they seem to be nearly breathing. Absolutely stunning!
Perhaps that mummy-like look those sculptures've got helps them capture the canine's spirit so perfectly: of animals that don't know time borders. For the dog's love for their humans is eternal just as would be their existence. Speak whatever you like, but dogs would survive on this planet for as long as we exist, maybe even longer.
Not liking it, breaks my heart as it looks similar to the lost dogs around here left to die.
