Students Are Sharing Pics Of Teachers Leaning Over And Sitting In The Weirdest Positions In Class (26 Tweets)
Teachers are unsung heroes: they spend all day filling students’ minds with knowledge and all night grading papers. But there’s something else that teachers tend to do—they lean against desks in very bizarre and seemingly (un)comfortable ways.
Well, Twitter user Karla_villegas wanted to share this interesting feature with the world, so she posted a photo of her old geometry teacher leaning on a desk with his legs in a peculiar position. Twitter loved the photo, Karla’s thread went viral, and other people started sharing pics of their own teachers leaning.
Scroll down, upvote your fave leaning-teacher photos, and let us know in the comments if your teachers acted the same way, dear Pandas!

Karla’s thread had a whopping 378.6k likes at the time of writing and more than 28.5k people retweeted it. The amount of attention the post got just goes to show that more teachers tend to act the same way than we realized!
But why do teachers lean like this? One explanation could be that desks are positioned at a weird height and teachers have no other choice but to lean like they’re in the middle of a ballet warm-up. Another reason could be back pain.
Sometimes I have to do that to stretch my legs out. After 2 back surgeries I cannot sit for long periods. And that stretch feels soooo good.
Teachers spend extended amounts of time standing and sitting and this can cause back problems if there’s not enough movement and variation between the two. In addition to standing, they have to keep bending down to help their students. The issue is especially prevalent among primary school teachers because the desks are far smaller.
So leaning in a weird way can be some teachers’ attempt to reduce the strain on their backs. Something else that can help protect their health is having standing or proper-sized desks for students to work at.
Choosing to sit on a high stool instead of standing for hours on end can also remove part of the strain. This upside is better back health; the downside is seeing less awesome leaning pictures on the net.
Ikr I do it all the time when there isn't another chair

Only if your not leaning up against anything

In think most of them do an excellent job to literally be on eye's height with the students. bowing or squatting may not work continuously through a day, particularly for teachers with back issues.
Also, if they were to just bend down with their legs straight, that might lead to labeling it as inappropriate sexual behaviour in class (showing ass off). Also, no one wants to have a teachers ass in their faces, so these are great workarounds, and they're quite comfortable.
That's exactly what I thought. They're doing it on purpose to be at the same height as the student.
Exactly
It's hard to be the right height. You kneel on the floor (which may not be that clean anyway) and you're too low - looking up at someone like a parent talking to their little kid. Bending over is awkward and you kind of end up leaning over the student. They're doing a great job trying to get it right.
My back hurts just looking at these photos. Thankfully I'm not a teacher, I'd need a standing desk to swivel my way on over to someone.
These cracked me up. I remember seeing some of my teachers in weird stances. Now, as someone who has joint issues that flare up now and then, I've been known to stand or sit in odd ways :D
I hope these students asked for the permission before taking and publishing these (funny I admit) pics...

I feel for all these teachers, trying to do their job, as if it isn't hard enough already and these people all just have their phones out in class...
Well, when desks are too low, whaddya gonna do?

Now I'm reminded of this funny pic of Christopher Meloni: cm-5f576657e2e48.jpg
You know, these people are teaching. Quit bitching.
There's a lot of teachers with bad joints who can't squat any more!
All because some kid made fun of the butt when they bent over.
1. Standing and walking on a concrete floor all day is hell on you legs and back, regardless of your shoes. 2. Teachers are encouraged to be at eye level with students as much as possible.
they were probably tired after standing all day.. but why are they doing acrobatics and twerking ?
GUYS has anyone else noticed the fact that pretty much all of them are guys

It's hard for teachers to get into a good position. Standing over students is a bit us-and-them. Bending at the waist means you point your bum at someone, and risk students looking down your top if you're a female teacher. I challenge any student to find a comfortable way to get to the height of people sitting down, and maintain that pose for several minutes at a time.
they all look like they tryna do the wap dance and failing

Teachers almost literally bending over backwards and the students are gratefully applauding them for the effort. Good.
For many years, correcting fashion patterns in original sizes on too low tables for 10 students in one class, left my hips and back in disastrous condition........ I loved my job....but today I'm a spare parts warehouse!
It never occurred to anyone that it might be because these teachers are just very tall people and they're doing what they can to keep from hurting their backs?
As someone who gets a lot of sciatica pain, I get it... and am now worried that I also look funny all the time.
There are chairs specifically designed for adults to sit at the same height as children, though the ones I've seen were all smaller and designed for work with younger children. It's a shame these teachers don't have anything similar.
A lot of them look like they have back problems

They're not "old", they're former or previous!
You guys had some seriously weird teachers!
there is no way a teacher in my country would have risked their job getting into student's personal space ... they would be have been reported before getting back to their desk ...
