For Dawid Planeta art is something more than just visual quality - with the series of dark drawings he is exploring the other side of human unconsciousness. After going through depression last year he's using unique art to depict the places where dark feelings were coming from.

"You need to go deep, deeper than your conscious mind. This is where you find universal qualities that we all share, things we all feel although many times we don't understand. This is the way to really connect with others using your drawing ideas."

"It's a story of a man descending into darkness and chaos in search of himself. To find his inner strength, find the light and come back with it. And then, when he knows who he is, he goes there again, this time without fear. He goes there because it's a part of who he is. It's a part of human nature you can't ignore. You need to know all parts of life, dark and bright."

Feeling small, I see this in every picture, feeling swallowed up, insignificant, ignored, introverted at times, so much in these illustrations, I can relate to these feelings, having suffered from crippling depression all my life, almost giving up a few times, down to taking the 24 hr challenge to just wait 24 hours longer, those times it worked, the darkness lifted enough to keep going. The thing is, no one around me actually knew the depths of my pain, I am a master at hiding these feelings, and smiling through it all, that obligatory smile, the one I've loathed at times, yet smiled anyway....thank you for this series, theres so much to see / feel. My biggest advice is to be OK with who you are, realize you're not perfect, no one is. You can't be everything to everyone. For myself my faith has brought the peace that truly does pass all understanding.

I met a traveller from an antique land, Who said—“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand, Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown, And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command, Tell that its sculptor well those passions read Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed; And on the pedestal, these words appear: My name is Ozymandias Ozymandias Pharaoh Rameses II (reigned 1279-1213 BCE). According to the OED, the statue was once 57 feet tall. , King of Kings; Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair! Nothing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away.
