This Anti-Assault Ring Is Perfect For Women Who Jog Alone
185Kviews
If you’re a woman who likes to jog but you don’t always feel as safe as you’d like to, this clever little anti-assault ring might be just the thing you’re looking for. It’s called Go Guarded and it’s a plastic weapon with a serrated edge that can be worn on any finger. It can’t be easily knocked out of your hand like other anti-assault devices such as mace, pepper spray, and rape alarms, and it might just give you a fighting chance should you find yourself in a dangerous situation.
“There are countless horror stories of runners and joggers assaulted, raped, or murdered across the U.S.,” explains the product’s website. “Go Guarded is a new option for active woman to defend themselves. You will naturally use your hands to fight off an attack. With Go Guarded on your finger, you can increase your effectiveness in escaping an attack and reaching safety.”

with my running and overall skills I'd probably stab myself in the eye
Why all female products always have to be pink?! I am a woman and I much prefer blue or green. Please help to stop this pink madness.
If it helps you who the hell cares personal I'd wear this and I wouldn't care
Right?! Lol love green
Comes in black and blue :)
I am a girl and I hated pink
"There are countless horror stories": no doubt there are, if you try to seel defense products. If you wear a weapon-ish thingy you will not feel safer, but me more anxious, expecting something to happen. And it is very doubtful that a person not training in fighting will have any better cards when wielding such a device, which would require profound techniques to be really effective.. Besides that, I do not have statistics for that, but I am pretty sure that the chance of tripping are several order of magnitudes higher than that of being assaulted...and when tripping this device by design my be harmful in that you could cut yourself. A suggestion: team up in the autumn and winter...particularly when you need to run with a headlight, and in fog, it is a much better feeling to be at least two, and probably bring a dog if you or a friend have one that likes to run. Even more if you run long and get quite remote. And this is not only true for women, but also for men.
But then you can't sell a product and make money. It's much easier to make a profit by convincing people to buy a object they don't really need than it is to sell helpfull information which makes jogging safer.
So you should only jog alone in the spring and summer?? Or are you suggesting that you should not jog at all in the spring and summer?
You won't feel safer carrying a weapon? I carry a firearm almost everywhere I go and I feel extremely safe. As a matter of fact I feel extremely vulnerable when I'm not carrying. You should always expect something too happen, it's being prepared.
Kets put 20 agitated in a bus without weapons. And another 20 agitated people in another bus with weapons and compare results. Id feel so safe to be in the bus with weapons....
Hans, what kind of driving in traffic are YOU doing that you could contract a disease???
@C. Kevin Donegan: I have no idea about your circumstances, but is that not rather sad? We are living in the 21st century, theoretically in free societies with right and order. It then is not the carrying of a weapon, but the perceived need to that is a ever-present source of worry. Besides, almost all statistically relevant threats (such as being harmed in traffic and contracting a deasease) will not be prevent by having a weapon...
This is not a good tool. You need to get way too close to use it. Pepper spray is just as small and handy. Paint it pink if you want.
But you are not jogging with pepper spray in your hand? The use of this is not to get close to your attacker, but to defend yourself when your attacker gets too close to you. In the best case one should always run away, instead of attacking, but at some circumstances attacking might be your only defense.
Then again, attacking with such an ineffective weapon will have more chances to get the wielder hurt than otherwise. I see nothing of use here. The stress on the finger joint when used improperly could very well lead to fracture, and well... there are little ways to use it properly.
I personally always have a tazer in hand. It's a good length to not get close and the end of it is also a good self defense weapon .
Judy Hoops approves this
Looks good but not practical...would hurt you more during a punch because the Ring is putting torque on your finger...a well placed Punch/ kick would be more effective.
Yes...if going for self defense, and particular self-defence for women, it probably would be more effective to learn to hit the spot where it really hurts. But it is the same with pepper spray. These products nowadays sell like fresh bread, but hardly anyone is trained how to do it. Chances to end up peppering oneself, particularly when actually assaulted, are probably higher than to save yourself.
Or teach men not to assault women jogger...
Sylvie P that's a fantastic idea!! Why has NOBODY ever thought to do that??? Wow! You should be the supreme leader of the world! "Just teach people not to commit crimes.... And they won't commit crimes!" Sounds like a plan! You get started on that right away!
How about just making it illegal to assault someone? Oh wait... It is and we all see how well that works.
Liberal snowflakes are getting into a rage fit, and are heading for the nearest safe space thanks to your insensitive triggering comment LOL.
Sure, like in Detroit, Chicago and Baghdad? LMAO
self defense classes would be better if you got the time and money. It's not guaranteed the lady will know what to do if the situation comes
A very clever invention!
For fool
There is already a similar weapon called Kakute. It is a ring with spikes and they are used for scratching or twisted into the attacker and is very painful. You can find some on ebay.
Well, have a happy murder 👍🏻
It is literally a lethal weapon.... This is a close to knife on your finger and you can easily pierce open a jugular with it. But brass knuckles are illegal in most states. What? In fact, this product is better for assault than it would be for self-defense...
This is close to being a knife on your finger*
I'm also curious as to what the rubber guard above the "blade"s purpose is...
Kay but where do I get one?
So say u did get assulted, u used the pink plastic knife, u would properly get arrested for carrying/ using a deadly weapon! And then get sued by the attacker! Our laws protect the criminals.
Is this legal? Wouldn't it be consider a white weapon like a knife or a brass knuckle?
In Britain it would get you a criminal record for carrying a dangerous weapon...!!
This is bullshit, giving girls a false sense of security... well, down here in Amarillo Texas, we girls use a Glock 9mm against rapists and burglars, and it has worked just fine for the last 25 years (unlike Chicago and Detroit)... yes liberals, eat your hearts out ;)
I love you!
What's going to stop an attacker also buying this?
A brain.
Wow. I will never get those 2 minutes of my life back, ever.
What a wonderful world .....
Use four on each hand and/or carry a gun like police and their wives do when jogging!
damn... looks like a weapon Rambo would use
Why women should buy this, if they already have 10 natural lil daggers on hands?
No one punches like that - you're bound to break some knuckles. I think pepper spray is a much better alternative.
How about jogging with a German Shepherd?
Recon you would probably damage your fingers really bad when using one of these, rather stick with a decent pepper spray in your hand. Can be used for punching and spraying.
If this thing actually does damage, what's to stop someone from using it in an offensive capacity? Like, just buying one and attacking someone? Or for that matter, why not just carry a combat knife or a hatchet with you when you jog? If it's legal to carry around a sharp blade intended to hurt human bodies who's to say there's a size limit? And if it's not actually that useful (torque on the finger, punching or kicking seems a better option) then why sell it? This device sells based on fear. There are always going to be scumbags in the world; don't let their shadows rule your life.
Didn't they teach you not to run with Scissors? That's why you don't jog with a knife or hatchet.
Yeah, great, make the assaulter even angrier by poking them with something that can't really hurt.
I'm going to start running soon and I'm scared ill get kidnapped so if you could tell me where to buy this would be most useful
This is illegal in the UK...possession of pointed and bladed weapon
Scorpion Miro likes it!
Should be banned!
