This Domesticated Baby Red Fox Is The Sleepiest Pet Ever
263Kviews
Meet Rylai, a domesticated red fox with her own Instagram who is quickly becoming a rising star on the internet. On her Instagram and Facebook, you can follow what Rylai eats, her success in obedience training, and her little everyday challenges. The name “Rylai” comes from the game DOTA2.
Rylai represents a welcome change in attitudes towards domesticated foxes, as many like her have been slaughtered for their fur. However, despite being domesticated, she is not a Siberian fox, which are bred in Russia to make them tamer and more dog-like. Rylai was raised by breeders seeking to domesticate foxes in the U.S., and is many generations removed from her wild cousins.

There are so many unwanted dogs in shelters, is there really a need to breed domesticated foxes? SMH
The relationship of people with different domesticated animals is different. Cats and dogs are different, so are foxes. Cat ppl ≠ dog ppl
fox is a relative of a dog. So fox people = dog people
Maybe she is not a dog person. What makes them more important than foxes? Why not adopt a child instead? All animals deserve respect =)
Goint to a breeder is not adopting itś buying thus supporting the breeding trade and not helping the poor animals that are dieing in shelter
Yes, there is. Just because someone would happily want a pet fox doesn't mean that person wants to have a dog.
I believe they were first domesticated in Russia as a study to see how long domestication takes. But I agree with you- no breeding.
You're missing the point. It's cute. But also, successful domestication of foxes could end up in a working animal with a unique skill level?
probably not exotic enough... :/
As cute as this baby is, I couldn't agree more with you Yessica. As long as there are dogs/cats dying in shelters daily, this is unnecessary
they were bread as a science experiment
Newsflash. ALL dogs were bred as an Experiment.
Totally agree
Sleepy because it's primarily nocturnal!
OMG she's cute.
