21-year-old Campbell Jones and his girlfriend were out for a bike ride in Rottnest, Australia, when they came across what is possibly the friendliest quokka on Earth. “As I walked back to my bike, the quokka chased after me,” Jones told the West Australian. “I put down the GoPro and it jumped at me as if to say, ‘Come back.'”
When asked on his Instagram page what Jones thinks made the animal come up to him, the man wrote: “My good looks I think.” Quokka saw the man, and it was love at first sight!
Quokka is a marsupial found in Australia. They are known for their inquisitive nature – quokkas have only few natural predators, which allows them to be less fearful around other creatures, and, as it turns out, even approach humans for a selfie or a hug. Still, the species is listed as ‘vulnerable’. We hope that photos like Jones’s will inspire more quokka protection efforts.

Share on FacebookThat first picture is so adorable, its like he's yelling for a hug. Not sure I'd let a wild animal close enough to my face or lips like that though, so you have more guts than I do. Def a cute and friendly Quokka
I have actually never even heard of a Quokka. But I have to say she's pretty cute.
That picture where he's jumping toward the camera is awesome! What a cutie
This is so cute. Also noticed that he is wearing a Sharks Rugby teams shorts. I assume he is South African.
What a cute Quokka!! I wish I could find a cute animal like this!!!
Gorgeous little thing - but I wouldn't have risked it so close to my face!
Aww that's so cute!! I wish a wild animal (a safe wild animal, may I add) saw me and thought "it's love"
This little Quokka was probably a pet and was turned loose and wants to be part of a family again.

Unconditional love! When an animal trusts a human like that, it does not fear that human for some reason. This little guy is obviously smitten.
How have I never heard of a quokka before? I've been alive 40 years and this is the first time I've ever heard of this adorable animal.
That's it....I'm moving to Australia! Oh....wait a minute, don't they have the World's most dangerous animals? Ok, I'm staying in Hawaii w/the Gecko's!
It had previously been domesticated by someone who let it go into the wild. it preferred the attention of a human, he looks like the previous caregiver.
Wanting a snack? Fed by humans previously? Like a dog they like to smell your breathe to discover what you ate last and whether its worth trying to get. So cool!
He's got food in his mouth in the "kiss" photo. The little guys are super friendly and joined us when we were doing a picnic just off the trail. The Quokka is coming for food, quite obviously :D This is myself and Quagmire the Quokka from a couple years back vacay down under. quokkas-00...399ee8.jpg
Hopefully you did not actually share. Like Koalas, Quokkas are full of gonorrhea
Load More Replies...Part kangaroo part wombat! So cute! Australia definitely has the most unique animals on the planet!
They're usually quite shy, so it's pretty awesome he was able to interact with one like this.
Dude, this is awesome. I am jealous and I would have given that loving little bugger a smooch too!
that first picture... adorable and that smile is almost cartoonisch. love it!
Now inspired to write a children's book about a Quokka. Even the name is adorable!
Is it illegal if he take that cutie home? Because if that happened to me, I would definitely take it home with me.
It's really cute looking at these photos. Admittedly, if this giant rat looking thing was chasing after me in the wild somewhere, I am more likely to be screaming, running away.
