People can be pretty negative, that's no secret. Anger, bitterness, sadness you name it. While it can be pretty uncomfortable to experience all of them, it's also what makes us human we were created to feel a lot.

Well, today we want to shine a light on one of the feelings probably all of us have experienced at least once a grudge. It can be brought on by various factors, and interestingly, it can last way longer than some of the other feelings. So, let's jump in to check out some examples, shall we?

People standing outside an H&M store in busy street, illustrating long grudges and social interactions. H&M, for cutting up perfectly good unsold clothes in the middle of winter in NYC and not donating them to homeless shelters, etc. All to protect their brand. They created clothes to destroy them when unsold - an environmental and social waste.(https://www.theguardian.com/world/2010/jan/07/h-m-wal-mart-clothes-found) I have refused to shop there since.

It should be illegal for a corporation to do this. Destroying items of value is itself a sin, but this goes beyond that. H&M is a fast fashion company with exploitative manufacturing, which is why the cost is so low for the company that they can so casually throw so much of it away.

We were told in a fast food joint (I was management) to discard food products. I bagged them and handed them out the window on my way home to the homeless on the street corners. F* that BS when the food wasn't spoiled (of course)

I have to agree that people would not pay top dollar for clothes if they saw the homeless wearing them.

A person experiences a variety of emotions throughout their life, as psychologist Jonice Webb lists in her article. This includes feelings like love, fear, sadness, joy, and boredom, to name a few.

What’s interesting about emotions is that you don’t have to experience them one at a time. They can mix, creating mixed emotions, hence the name. Or they can create an entirely new feeling.

Five or six years ago, she was telling me how she didn’t have enough money to buy my niece her senior class ring and get her graduation pictures taken and that my brother refused to pay for them. He and I weren’t in contact at the time so I paid for them, and then years later found out that she gave him the receipts of what I paid for. so he reimbursed her! Basically double she double dipped from both of us!! she’s a conniving b***h!

Nestle is Swiss, and as a european, I never buy their products. Also, I never buy any USA.products available here in Germany. Not because I hate USA and it's people, just because I read the ingredients. I can't imagine, how those products reached the shelves of a grocery store in a european country, being so overprocessed, in a level, what is already toxic (Spray cheese ... like really??? During, the big earthquake in San Francisco, there was a neighborhood store that raised their prices of water to $10 for a 5 L jug. The store down the street was giving away hot coffee and donuts. Guess which one went out of business after things settled down? The whole neighborhood boycotted the greedy store owner and they didn’t last out the year.

For example, emotions such as anger, bitterness, and other negative ones can form a feeling called a grudge. According to the dictionary definition, a grudge is “a feeling of deep-seated resentment or ill will.” But as always, dictionary definitions tend to be pretty dry, don’t they?

That’s when we turn to more “human” explanations. Essentially, yes, a grudge is a negative feeling that we experience, but it’s more than simply that. Basically, there’s always a context for why we feel this way, a story behind it. Feelings, especially the bad ones, don’t just appear for no reason.

If it seems like they do, it’s always worth looking deeper into it – it might be due to someone hurting you way back in the day and those feelings catching up right now. Or it might be some kind of mental illness, you never know. But hey, acknowledging it is always the first step in getting better.

We had a reading competition in 3rd grade. I worked hard, but at the end another girl one. All good, but then the teacher revealed to me that she won because she was better liked than me. People voted for "like", not for "reads well". Immediate disillusion, and I never did competitions or had any illusion about who gets rewarded in society. These days I work hard at my job, but only for my own fun. Society shoots itself in the foot by not teaching people to have integrity.

YES! You end up stuck with that one piece of tech working on its own or having to replace all your tech & then you're in the Apple circle of extreme expense. The only Apple devotees I personally know have never tried other tech & assume nothing else will do. My husband had to work with Apple on a major IT project for BT in the UK some years ago. Apple were horrible, entitled priccks. They charged a fortune to make the tech work & they really didn't want to do it as they only want their own tech talking to their tech (unrealistic). Other companies (eg Android) were a delight, helpful & keen to get it working & at a much lower cost (10s of 1000s instead of millions). Unethical bunch of shysters with exploitative work practices in its supply chain, tax avoidance, and anticompetitive behaviour. I'd not give them my business out of principle. Sorry, probably not that helpful!!

One of the reasons I dislike Apple is that they make you pay an annual subscription to develop for their platform. Want to issue wallet membership cards? That'll be £100/year. Want to develop apps? Development tools only run on Apple kit. And the development APIs seem to be poorly thought out and very clunky to use.

All Chick-fil-A have done is support traditional marriage. Get stuffed with your liberal b******t.

What’s interesting about a grudge is that it can be pretty hard to let go of. After all, when we talk about it, we usually phrase it as “holding a grudge,” which suggests that we tend to hold onto this feeling.

Today’s list is a perfect proof of that – it’s full of stories about exactly that. Mind you, some of these grudges are decades old. It just proves the point that it can be hard or even impossible to let go of.

State Farm is the s***s. In 2010, I was on unemployment and really hurting for money. To tide me over, I called them up and asked if I could skip that month's auto insurance payment. I spoke to someone who assured me I could do that and that she had put something in the computer so all I had to do was ignore the bill when it was sent out. So I did and the next month they cancelled my insurance for non-payment and refused to listen to me when I told them who I had talked to. Because of that, my car loan got called in and my car ended up being repossessed. Up to that point, I had never, ever been late or missed an insurance payment on my car insurance and I had been with them since 1975. That was 35 years I had been their customer and they screwed me over just like that. I will never, never go back to them. I don't care if they end up being the only car insurance company in the world, I would rather take my chances and drive without. Complete and total a******s.

My friend had a drunk driver literally crash through their front room (thankfully, she and her husband were out of the country at the time, so they themselves weren't hurt). SF's response to their claim was $1500--and that was after a licensed contractor (WHO SF SENT!) told them the costs would be closer to $30,000. My friend took them to court, where they eventually got SF to cover the repair costs 100% plus all legal and court costs. It took 18 months for everything to be resolved.

Never been dropped, agents have always been helpful & kind, and rates are usually cheaper than competitors. I was rear-ended at a traffic light in a hit & run, and they did eventually have me go to one of their doctors to check on the validity of more medical treatment (I had had to go back for more PT after going through a few different therapists because most were terrible), and their doctor approved more PT sessions.

Walmart storefront with people walking outside, illustrating stories of the longest grudges held by individuals. My Wal-Mart grudge has been going strong for nearly 15 years.

I wasn’t a fan before the Affordable Care Act and tended to avoid shopping there just on vibes. But when the ACA passed, Wal-Mart decided that it was cheaper to pay the fine for not providing insurance than it was to just insure their employees. Never crossed their door again.

I currently live less than a 15 minute walk from a Wal-Mart and have told my husband that - if forced - I’ll shoplift from Wal-Mart but I’m not giving them a dime of my money.

For the unaware; they successfully argued at the US supreme court that the owner (David Green) was having his personal religious freedom violated because it covered employees' contraception through the third-party insurance company.

First time I went to a Walmart I was greatly disappointed. I have shopped at Walmart quite a bit before but recently I don't go to Walmart if I don't have to.

But why is it like that? You see, our brains are wired in a way that they like to hold onto negative feelings, even though it hurts us. And we motivate them to do so by ruminating, as this way they don’t turn into the thing of the past and remain present in our heads.

Perhaps this way we’re trying to protect ourselves – if we remember the negative thing and details about it, we can ensure it doesn’t happen again, as we can avoid it. It gives us a sense of self-control, even if in some cases it’s just an illusion.

I used to run 5k, 10k races for fun. I have participated in dozens of races over the years. I only did Komen for the Cure once. As soon as I signed up, the harassment began to fund raise for them. It was so so gross. I signed up pretty early to get good pricing. Typically, I would choose one charity race to run a month as a way I can give something back, you know. Absolutely, no other organization ever bothered me past the sign up. Komen for the Cure was emailing, texting, and calling me multiple times a day up until the race. It kinda ruined the event for me. They also pushed merchandise at the races where as other organizations might have some info available, but nothing pushy like this. It's sad, I thought it would be a good cause. Now I support Bikers for B***s (local to my area) for breast cancer awareness month.

Pink flower shop exterior with large windows displaying floral arrangements and decorative plants inside. Oh, here’s my corporate grunge that goes back to 1991. Back when I was in college my best friend and I saved up to go and buy something at the Betsy Johnson boutique on Newberry Street. At the time, my friend was a size 8 and I was a size 10, but we both were division one athletes at a local Boston university,

Sidenote, it’s kind of funny because no matter what why you say that a local Boston College or a local Boston University? It kind of screamed at which of the school I might have gone to

let me continue so we go into the store and both of us were already let’s just say young adults of means and the girl working the store or the boutique looked at us and told us to walk right back out because they did not dress fattiies at Betsy Johnson and even if we had squeezed ourselves into something she wouldn’t sell it to us because they had an image to uphold.

So I don’t remember which store on Newbury Street we might’ve gone to Toppers and blew all that money on hats who knows but it definitely wouldn’t be spent at Betsy Johnson.

Years later, I was called to a gate because the gate agents and the and the supervisor and the lead we’re all straight men, and there was a little weirdly, dressed lady who someone said was a fashion designer behaving a little badly at a gate because her flight was delayed and they weren’t sure who she was or why people thought she was important so I got called to assist and lo and behold. I got to tell her that I was well aware of who she was and she needed to dial it back a bit if she was planning to travel our airline that day and I would gladly refund our ticket and she could go over to Delta or American or whoever she wanted to in another terminal.

The irony behind the whole thing is now Betsy Johnson has a plus size line for the cool fatties I guess. To quote Cyndi Lauper I guess money changes everything.

I wouldn’t wear anything of hers, even if it meant my own death, but I might be convinced to burn something of hers for warmth.

Edited to app sorry for typos or weird phrasing. I’m having to use talk to text because of an arm injury.

I had a same experience with a Jo Malone parfümerie. To be fair, Jo Malone has more colognes or max. EDT, as real perfumes, but their mixing of scents are amazing, what rarely you can find even in niché perfume-world. (For those out-of.this-kind-of-world. Cologne is lasting max. 4 hours, an EDT -eau de toilette- max. around 6-7 hours, a perfume 8-12 hours, an essence or extract de perfume for days, if you don't clean your body parts sprayed with it properly). So, the cheapest is the cologne from every kind of producer, but by Joe Malone that's even 72 euro a 30 ml. In summer time nobody wants to have 8-12 hours long lasting heavy perfume, so a cologne or EDT is perfect. Oh, but by Joe Malone, if you enter their shop dressed in sandals, t-shirt, summer-pants/shorts, you can feel the rejection in the air. JM shops are offering personal consulting to find the exact scent. Not if you are not looking "rich". I avoid them.

Yet, many people argue that we should strive to be more forgiving. All these negative feelings hurt us. It not only damages our minds, but can bring bitterness, mistrust to relationships, and just makes us overall sadder than we should be. And that sounds nice and all, but sometimes it’s easier said than done, isn’t it?

Hockey player on ice rink about to hit puck, illustrating persistence linked to long grudges people reveal. Matthew. In grade school he hit me on the head with a hockey stick when we were arguing. I was aquaman and he was the 6 million dollar man. Ain't no way the 6 million dollar man can run on water. I stand by this. I'm 56 and a half.

    Edit:
since this blew up a bit I'll fill in some more details. Matthew lived next door. I was 8 or 9 and he was a year younger, but actually bigger than me. Anytime things didn't go his way he would run home crying and then his mother would come barreling out and yell at me. Any little thing would set him off and it happened a lot. So we got into this argument and I threw a snowball at him. Now remember we wore these big a*s puffy coats in the 70s and his went down to the tops of his legs. Ugly a*s s**t brown jacket too. I hit him with it near the bottom on the side. I doubt he even felt it, but he started crying and he picked up a hockey stick and hit me in the forehead. Then he ran home crying. I booked it because I knew what was coming next. Sure enough Mathews mommy knocks on our door all p**s and vinegar that I hit her son with a snowball. My mother calls me over and lifts my bangs (ya, I rocked those) and showed her the welt on my forehead. She went silent and just walked away. I still have a mark from it.

I have practically no other memories from this age, but this I still see clear as day. Right down to his s**t brown jacket. Memories are weird. And f**k you Matthew you fat a*s pancake. I'm not still bitter. Really.

Whatever you do, don't download Soulseek and use it to download any song ever made. For one thing there are no ads, viruses or any of that. And it downloads way too fast, a whole album comes in 3 seconds. It's so not worth the price of free. :) Edit: Here is the site to avoid at all cost https://www.slsknet.org/
