Parenting is a unique, exciting, challenging experience. Every child is different, and so is every parent. But that's not to say there aren't some things that happen to most parents. Here are a few comics illustrating some of the shared experiences of parents all over the world!

I have one son who just recently turned 5 years old, but I have always been very close with my sister's kids so I've been around children and babies most of my adult life. One piece of advice I would give is: respect your child. So much of how many societies view child rearing is based in control, but they're people and deserve to be respected and understood. Naturally you need to adapt this so that you're speaking to them in a way that's age-appropriate, but kids are intelligent and intuitive so we don't need to undermine that just because they're young.
Love this. Parenting is not a competition. We should be supporting each other.
I would say my favourite part of being a parent is rediscovering how magical the world is. When we go for walks, my son can get so absorbed in something most adults would view as mundane for a long time. It's easy for parents to roll their eyes and rush the little ones along but instead, get down on their level and try to see what's so fascinating. Going for leaf treasure hunts, catching crayfish in the river, jumping in puddles aren't things I would think to do on my own as an adult but it's a blast as a parent. My least favourite part is that the world can be a scary place and while my husband and I are doing our best to help our son build resilience and be able to manage some of the hardships, we can't protect him from everything and that's scary! I also think a lot about other children in the world, I'm very passionate about advocacy for children and youth, so it can be difficult knowing how many children there are in difficult circumstances.
I have my Honours Bachelor of Fine Arts and a lifelong interest in comics, manga, and animation. I've always drawn silly comics for my friends, so it was natural to me to do the same once I got pregnant. What wound up happening was I was putting them in a journal to give to my son as an adult so he could get to see things from my perspective and maybe have some nice memories of our life. I decided to put a couple on my art page and got a decent response, so I kept up with it. Soon I was getting messages from all over the world from parents who said the comics resonated with them, and that they felt less alone in parenting when they read them. It was a really nice feeling to know there was a connection with so many other people. I do have a few that I won't share because I think some do just need to be for my son, though.
I'm working on putting more effort in continuing the comics. I've been hand-drawing a bunch that I'll redo digitally to keep them coming. We are hoping it'll be safe to do some traveling this summer so I'm sure that'll generate some inspiration. I would love if one day I could build my platform to be able to speak on parenting practices, child development, and other topics that I have professional interests in, such as trauma and its relation to brain development. I would say anyone considering sharing their art online should do it because they enjoy it. If you turn it into a grind, a brand, side hustle, whatever, it'll suck every ounce of joy out of it immediately. And always put a watermark or digital signature somewhere that would make it difficult to remove because your art will absolutely be stolen at some point. Have fun with it, and let yourself be authentic and vulnerable.
I feel this one! The first couple of times my son slept through the night in his own bed, I would wake up in the middle of the night and my sleep-addled brain would think, "he died. There's no other explanation for why he's not here". And then I'd go check on him, and he'd be sleeping in his bed peacefully.
Reminds me of the time my daughter found a salamander in the yard and showed it to her grandma. All I hear is shrieking.
My littles sister cut my mom's eye open doing that once mom says it's blurry in that eye.
What I constantly tell my bestie who is 12 lol she didn't listen she has bronchitis now.
This is so me!! Sitting with other moms at gymnastics trying to think of something to say suddenly I'm like "so I watch a LOT of true crime......" *crickets* lol
I'd be your friend. I watch a lot of true crime also.
Load More Replies...I'm a former active duty (Army) mom who drove transportation/tactical vehicles and now handle most of the interior cosmetic projects at home, which requires the use of a lot of power tools. I, literally, do not relate to a single other mom in my neighborhood because in their households those roles are reversed. Even if I had lived on post it would still be that way. I can't even shorten that title to Army Mom because then people would think I'm either a spouse or have a child who's enlisted. Needless to say, I haven't a single mom friend. My girls love playing with the neighbor's kids but we are never invited to parties of any kind.
Awww!!! Just cause you are talented! They dont *know* what they're missing!!!!!! Please God, send this awesome poster an understanding (and intelligent, or at least willing to learn) friend!!!! We *are* out here (the ones that run with our strengths, creativity, and interests) even if they are a little outside of the average paradigm! Try to remember: if you arent authentic, the world will be missing your unique flavors, spices, and colors, and that will make the world an emptier, sadder place!

To be fair, all of my friends would think that that conversation was AWESOME (including floof, aka me).
This would be my kind of mom friend. I just can't enjoy talking about reality shows or Bible study for hours on end.
There is entire true crime TV channels for a reason. True crime is insanely popular, especially with women. I think all true crime fans can breathe a sigh of relief that they're not weirdo's it's just genuinely Interesting. Unless you're really dead set on being not like other girls.
I think this lady would have a lot of friends. Almost every chick I know loves true crime.
Ohhh, 40 *CELSIUS*. Yeah, way different than 40 Fahrenheit! 40C=104F and conversely, 40F=4C!
Because I haven't had more than FIFTEEN SECONDS of time to myself today and I. AM. G0DDAMNED. OVER. IT.!!!!!!
My daughter is both the only reason i would go to prison/the only reason i want to stay out of prison.
Pregnant in summer, July 1988. Heatwave in Jacksonville NC and he was NINE DAYS LATE.
Amazing how that little human can take up an entire king sized bed!
Takes me back to when an old man tried grilling me for not dressing my daughter in pink,
Good luck finding a babysitter you actually trust lol it's just better to stick with family.
My mom stressed so much with all 3 of my younger siblings she would always complain that they were way too skinny and they were going to die they all turned out fine lol I would try to give her a break and hold the baby but not the time she would just hold them while she did everything.
There comes a time in all Moms lives when their child's vocabulary consists of one word: "NO!"
The toys my daughter plays with the most are the hand made ones. She'll play with the toys people have bought her, but she much prefers the rattle i made out of an old medicine bottle and bottle caps 🤣
My kid always says mmmmmmmommyyyyyyyy, and I reply yes sweet, and he goes like mmmmmmmommyyyyyyyy again, and again yes sweetie... Can go on for hours, but it's fun :)
Nothing moves faster than a toddler when asked, "What is in your mouth??!!".
Simple answer to that last one (mommies) usually they go on no questions asked.
"Walk through fire for you just let me adore you"......"macaroni in a pot"........no!!!!!!!!! I was dancing with them got 30 seconds in before I realized what I was letting them dance to!!
My little sister every single time lol the other ones had normal smiles though.
I don't recall ever experiencing this with my kid. Interesting. (She was diagnosed with a Global Developmental Delay.)
In fairness he tried to warn you, but you just had to mess with him.
Yeah how do you find a nanny cam that small yo put on your baby? Also I need one for my cat to see where she constantly goes missing all day.
Ha! I always asked the kids to clean out their toy box every now and then. By the time they reached the half-way mark, it was like Christmas morning. They didn't remember half the stuff they had put in there.😂
But I want my milk first so I get so full on drinks I won't eat my applesauce or anything else for that matter.
So many reasons in here that give me more motivation to not have a kid
These were adorable and made me want a baby even more than I already did 🥲
Good! Plenty of children in foster care waiting to be adopted
