With both empathy and sass, the longtime actor took a homophobic tweet and turned it into a mic-drop moment.

Nick’s fiery message came after an X user called him “godless and confused” in a tweet about his gay character in The Last of Us.
The HBO TV drama tells the love story of Bill (played by Nick) and Frank (played by Murray Bartlett), who are both survivors of a fungal brain infection.
Nick won an Independent Spirit Award for the role in 2024.

Last week, an X user criticized Nick for the character in the hit TV drama.
“I can’t believe you played a gay guy on The Last of Us. I will definitely not be watching Parks and Rec again,” they wrote in a homophobic tweet shared in the middle of Pride Month.
“I knew you were godless and confused from your book, but this is just sad and disgusting,” the user added.

Nick reshared the tweet, along with a sassy yet graceful show of allyship.
“I get so much of this unsolicited homophobia from ladies who doth protest too much, to whom I say that they and all comers are still welcome in my church, no matter who you might be lucky enough to kiss,” he responded.
He also took the liberty of including the colorful hashtags: #happypride #tryloveyoudumbf*ck

Michael’s version had an LGBTQ+ pride flag edited over the laptop screen.

When Nick came across Michael’s edited video of the Parks and Recreation clip, he wasted no time in slamming the anti-gay sentiment.

The character Ron Swanson was indeed the best man at the wedding of his hairdresser Typhoon (Rodney To) and Craig (Billy Eichner).

Nick Offerman is the best. And I teared up at the end of the TLOU episode. Especially with the way that episode started I was thinking: OMG, it's like Ron Swanson finally got his wish to be the last man on Earth. But the human dignity and depth he gave to that character was just gorgeous.
