I Made Portraits Whose Subjects And Surroundings Express Intense Emotional Narrative (18 Pics)
In 2009, I began studying photography. Diane Arbus's portraits have always fascinated me, and she was my primary inspiration. The photos I'm sharing were taken between 2009 and 2013 using both Nikon and Canon cameras. Some were captured from the passenger seats of cars, while others were close-ups. I've chosen to share these specific images because each one evokes a particularly strong emotion in me.

Nursing Home Resident
I worked in nursing homes and was appalled by the concept of people ending their days bound to a bed, unable to move or see sunshine and in pain. I had a friend who was severely neglected in one. Nursing homes and the warehousing of humans needs to end. Horrible things happen when states cut costs at the expense of human lives. This country needs to do a way better job at caring for its most vulnerable residents with in home care or more assisted living facilities. Everyone deserves privacy, sunlight, the freedom to move and to feel "at home."
Make joke over him when you are in his age, Nonesuch.

In a country that gives...oops, I mean 'loans' millions and billions of money to other countries, you'd think we wouldn't have people in a situation like this. Most people I know, including myself, are two paychecks from being homeless. God help us all.

I love to see that Girl Scouts are still active SOMEWHERE! I grew up doing GS (5-18yo) traveled the world through GS, earned my bronze silver and gold awards and am still a proud lifetime member (I’m 31, now) but it seems like GS has all but disappeared!! I’m so happy to see this portrait- my parents have an almost identical one of me in my uniform marching in a parade at that age!! This photo COMPLETELY captures the experience! (But not the gnarly sunburn! Haha)
I doubt if these GS are still active. That picture looks like it's from late 50's to early 60's...
