This Muslim Woman Took A Smiling Stand Against Anti-Muslim Protesters And Went Viral
This Sunday Shaymaa Ismaa’eel – a 24-year-old behavioral therapist for children with autism woke up to a pleasant surprise as one of her tweets, or picture to be exact, went viral. The day before Shaymaa went to the Islamic Circle of North America convention she encountered a group of men with protest signs standing outside the venue. One of the signs read “Islam is a religion of blood and murder! The blood from Jesus is given as a ransom for all mankind” and another one read that “Jesus is the only begotten son of God.” In that instant, Shaymaa decided to fight bigotry in her own way.

Shaymaa later revealed to the media that people attending the convention felt uncomfortable and were visibly getting upset. She also mentioned that, while walking by, her friends were told by the protesters that they were going to hell.
Shaymaa decided to combat the hatred with kindness

So, she asked her friend Jamilah to snap a picture of her in front of the hateful protesters. Shaymaa walked up while the men continued yelling and asked a police officer whether she could stand on the curb in front of the men. The officer declared ‘no’ blatantly and this incited a rebellious feeling inside Shaymaa. She later recalled to one media outlet: “I smiled so hard in the picture and the man [started] directing his speech toward me. Silly things like ‘your face should be covered.’”
The woman posted the picture to her Instagram and later to Twitter and both of the posts soon went viral

“On April 21st I smiled in the face of bigotry and walked away feeling the greatest form of accomplishment,” Shaymaa’s caption on Twitter read. She was soon flooded with responses and support from hundreds of people.
She later tweeted that she wasn’t ‘expecting this AT ALL!’

“The positivity from this is very uplifting and it’s making me happy to know that the youth can see someone being unapologetic in the face of people who hate their religion,” Shaymaa said to the media.
Shaymaa thanked everyone to the overwhelming amount of support she received over the weekend

And clarified that the photos were not Photoshopped or altered in any way

No surprise there at all. To them, anyone who is not a straight white man, is not a real human being.
Load More Replies..."Islam is a religion of blood and murder" - This man apparently doesn't know much about how self-proclaimed Christians have behaved over the years or maybe he just enjoys being a hypocrite. This behavior is not Christian nor is this how Christianity should be shared.
As a Christian myself, what I love about this is watching the protesters using the "blood of Christ" as an argument, and saying muslims are killers and ignorant animals and etc., and quite conveniently forgetting that most of the bloodiest, deadliest actions in human history have been executed precisely for this "blood of Christ"... Do they really thing Christ, or any other deity from any other religion, would look with good eyes all the BS we've done in their name?? They're all supposed to preach love and we interpret "love" as f#ck everyone who doesn't believe what I believe. As a christian myself, I'm increasingly convinced that what we all need is atheism...
What is far more interesting, is that they have no clue what so ever, on the fact that muslims believe in Jesus to.
Load More Replies...firstly sorry my English grammer. As a Muslim i'd like to say something about it . i'm Muslim but i'm living in a Christian country. I've never felt like i'm not belong here and those people are different ? they never disturb me any way and I never disturb them any way . when u ask me are u religious I say yes but if u ask this to my neighbor he'd say is she Muslim ? Being religious is not about other people its about you and God. I can pray on my bed I can pray at my home I don't have to show my religion to other people. but most of them (muslims) feel like they have to show to people how religious they are.. Because they don't know actually what they believe. What God's wants from us and what you should be a person like. most of them Muslim because their mother and father was. They never open and read their book. That's why it is really hard to find real believer. people are ignorant. when someone is ignorant it is very easy to use this people when u talk about religion.
whatevers you are so cute judging her for something you cant change while you sit on your couch doing nothing

It's a sign of strength in hip hop communities. The way she's posed is very much a grand stance. If she was glaring and poking two fingers up, that could be considered rude in some cultures. All I see is a strong woman flexing.
Load More Replies...As a catholic I applaud this woman! This is not the way to get people to come to christianity. I grew up being taught that though other people have different beliefs, we shouldn't condemn them.
I think most people (i.e the blind billions) forget what Christianity did to pagans and other religions when it was taking over the world.
And what they still do: homophobia, sexism, racism, shootings in USA, terrorism, wars (like Irak)....
Load More Replies...I'm confused. If "The blood from Jesus is given as a ransom for all mankind” then wouldn't that include Muslims?
yes, so basiclly before Jesus, the Jewish Israelites were God's chosen people. after a couple hundred years the Virgin Mary had Jesus, and he taught the sinners and roasted the Pharisees. But Jesus had given his divine place in Heaven to save those sinners and bring them to Heaven. The world is still not as He intended because Adam and Eve sinned. Anyways, Jesus was crucified, where 'His Blood spilled for all mankind', he rose from the dead, and when he asended back to heaven, he told his disciples to share His word and make churches. so yes, the blood of Christ is for everyone, and anyone can go to heaven as long as they believe that Jesus is the Son of God and he died to take our sins. please read the Bible for a better reference, as this is a brief summery. thanks!
Load More Replies...These men take religion too far. How do they believe God likes this? Or are they just using it as an excuse to be racist?
Well, part of the point of religion (note, I mean RELIGION, not FAITH) is to exert social control and norms on a given society. basically, making sure that everybody whose like everybody else gets rewarded and people who aren't get driven out. Even today, there's fanatics that take that social control way to far and start hating people who're not like them. This has nothing to do with god. It has everything to do with the fact that these men are threatened by the 'otherness' represented by muslims.
Load More Replies...I ADORE what she did!!! But it was not an "act of kindness", as stated. It was an act of strength and defiance of hatred - I want to hug her!!
Talk about selective arguments. These "christian" crusaders have apperantly forgot how much innocent blood there has been shed in the name of their "saviour". Good godly men, that want women to stay in the kitchen where she belong. Hilbillys. lol
What sad lives these people must have to have such hate and anger in their hearts.
I'm not Muslim, but I do think that it is wrong for people to stereotype them.
This woman gets it :D when will we learn that different doesn't always mean something's bad? More often than not, you can benefit so much more from something that's different rather than lose anything at all? :) so much time and energy wasted on useless things like hate and ignorance. That s**t is a choice. Choose happiness instead :)
Yeah! She's a role model and i admire her. I stood in front of a Muslim girl being abused by an old angry white guy. Told him "What terrible language, we'll catch the next lift, off you go". Made a new friend in my building. :)

I think I can say with some confidence that if Jesus were still walking on the planet, he wouldn't be protesting and condemning people
Er... John 3:16 says NOTHING about Islam, they can take their "Muslamic Ray Guns" rubbish elsewhere.
The men are an embarassment to themselves. They were serving their own punishment by existing. Like living cautionary tales of what choosing the Path of Stupidity looks like.
Well, that was brave and powerful. Way to go. The protestors were not above using their religion to bang out a political s**t game either. Jesus’ blood was given as grace for everyone, not ransom! His message was not one of war mongering or hate. But of love and faith. He didn’t die and “ ransom” his blood for mankind at all. He died so that kind could find grace, in God’s perfect love, and as the one way to come to God, not by works or evil deeds or words, but by his love for the Father, and being willing to die, so that we could ave what He has.
Those people must be very scared and insecure in order to behave that way. 🤔
It cheeses me off no end when people do this in the name of Jesus or religion. They have no place telling anyone of any faith what they should do. Islam is not a religion of blood and murder- the fanatics are making it that way, same as the fanatics in Christianity are doing. So much for tolerance of other people.
I'm a generic Christian (no denominational affiliation). This sidewalk demonstration is not the way it's supposed to be done. We're supposed to do good deeds, and then wait for people to ask us about our beliefs. The bible says that people can come to Jesus only if our Father draws them to Jesus. Likewise, people can know our Father only if Jesus reveals our Father to them. This sidewalk display is un-biblical. On the other hand, moslems deny that Jesus is the Son of God, thus they are indeed on course for eternal punishment. They will not live forever in moslem paradise; they will be in hell. The sidewalk demonstrators are trying to convert somebody using their own resources and power. They should be praying that our Father would draw moslems to Jesus.
This type of behavior from the religious does not surprise me. The fact that you can use the word “blood “ in a way that is supportive be agreeable ( blood of Jesus ) on sign has always confuses me. Easter is like the gore and mutilation holiday. However, in this instance it’s been used as blood of Jesus in one context then blood and murder on these signs. Absolutely confusing. I took comparative religion in college. I was raised Christian and currently atheist. Having said all that, HOW can you have any righteous indignation for anyone’s religion when you behave this badly in public outside its convention? How many people will you reach for Jesus? Who is the hate monger in this instance? Does anyone see the irony? This Lady certainly did and I say Rock on !!
All religion is based in ignorance. Islam is no different except that it mixes the worst traits of religion with the violence usually reserved for gang warfare.
Homo Sapiens is at their most lethal whenever some of them have decided that they themselves own the truth and the solution to a better world. The very worst atrocities are usually carried out in the name of a religion and with a presumed pretext of making the world a thoroughly "good" place. Both National Socialism in Germany and Communism in the SSSR, China and Cambodia took the place of religion. Everything is better in moderation.
All she did was stand in front of some morons, yes it was a nice gesture but why are people acting like she is a revolutionist?
Все религии опасны. Все религии это оружие массового поражения. Это способ управлять толпой.
I believe we're all children of the same holy father, experiencing different relationships with Him based upon our upbringing. He is infallible but we are not. Just like with our earthly parents, we may try to share what we think our father wants, but often we know only a little. Pride and fear twist our hearts unbeknownst to ourselves. There are radical Christians and Muslims who instill even more fear in others. But there are more good, ordinary Christian and Muslim people who can work together as children of God/Allah/Papa/the Great Spirit to bring peace & show the love that He has to offer. The strength this young woman showed is the beginning of that. An act of kindness could be the next step next nnext next.
Thing is I'm glad she was able to do her counter protest, she can do this because she is American in a free country. She can't do this as a Christian or Jewish or buddist or spaghetti bucket wearing person in most Islamic majority countries, that's the point of the signs, there's a truth to them. I wish there wasn't. Separation of church and state and plurality of religion, thank god, Allah, Martin Luther or the founding fathers that we can be this way. My heart aches for New Zealand and Sri Lanka. Religion is just one of the tools people manipulate to be a..holes and to have power.
Western countries are this tolerant because their goverment split up from the church, becoming laic. Obviously the church never agreeded to it. If we were still christian countries (our laws were based on the bible, like it used to be) we would be as intolerant and problematic as the countries that you are talking about. It is not one religion vrs the other, is laicism and democracy against religion.
