Out of all the things that can cause wedding drama, the dress is definitely near the top of the list. For something that is supposed to be beautiful and exciting, it somehow has a way of turning into a major problem.

That is exactly what happened here. One woman decided to buy the same dress her daughter had worn two years earlier for own wedding, just in another color. To her, that seemed like enough of a change. But her daughter was not happy with the idea at all.

Now, the woman doesn’t know what to do: find a new dress or go with the one she already bought, despite her daughter’s wishes. Read the full story below.

Weddings are meant to be a happy celebration, but it is pretty rare for one to go by without some kind of fight breaking out

Weddings are supposed to be one of the happiest occasions in a person’s life. A celebration of love that brings everyone together. But ironically, planning this event usually leads to a lot of disagreements and fighting between everyone involved. The exact opposite of what a wedding is supposed to celebrate.

That is something that unfortunately happened to the two women in this story. The mom bought the exact same gown her daughter had worn on her own big day, just in a different color. To her, it seemed harmless enough, especially because she also planned to make some adjustments to it. But her daughter was still very unhappy with that idea.

Basically, it feels like it’s impossible to have a wedding without someone having a falling out at some point before or during it. And according to experts, a big part of why this happens comes down to the need to feel in control

Everyone can feel this in different ways. Parents of the couple often have very strong opinions about how the wedding should look, even though it is not their event. Couples themselves can clash with each other over every little decision, whether that is the venue or how much money to spend on things.

In this situation, we don’t know exactly what the daughter is feeling. What we do know is that she doesn’t want her mom wearing something so similar to her own dress, even if it is a different color. And it probably comes down to that same need for control.

The dress was hers. It was one of the most personal parts of her wedding day. And the idea of her mom wearing something so similar may have felt like that sense of ownership was slipping away from her.

Whether it is actually reasonable for her to feel that way is a whole other discussion. Readers were split on it too. Some thought her reaction was an overreaction, while others felt she was completely entitled to feel the way she did.

But perhaps the saddest part of all of this is that while a wedding is just one day, the arguments that happen around it can leave a mark on relationships that lasts way longer.

There are so many stories of bridesmaids who were close friends before the wedding and never spoke again after. Or families who had such heated disagreements that the whole memory of the day ended up being soured by it.

In this case, the mom decided that her relationship with her daughter mattered more than the dress. But that decision is costing her the one dress she actually loved. What do you think she should have done? Let us know in the comments below.

Oh ffs. It's not like she wore it to the daughters wedding, which would be some kind of statement of something. Now it's just a d**n dress. Someone really needs to sit the daughter down and shout at her.

I don't know. I'm leaning towards the mother s***s here. It's the exact same dress as the daughters and if they're getting married very close together in terms of time, it looks weird and to be honestly kind of tacky, like she's copying her daughter.

That's a very sad ending. OP deserved to be happy and feel beautiful in a dress she was excited about. Her daughter stole that joy.

I rather imagine that if she hadn't said anything the daughter wouldn't even have noticed. Different colour, trimmings removed. I dont see what business it is of the daughter's anyway.
