This is a pretty wild story, but 100% true.

I went to France in August 2008 on a Zoom flight. A two week trip to visit my sister who had been living between Holland and France for over a decade. Lisa ( my sis) had married a Dutch husband- had a son with him, divorced and married a French military Commandant . They had a daughter, he already had 4 children . So it was going to be wonderful to see all my family.

The day after I got my ticket, I started to have a weird feeling. I just knew getting there was going to be fine – but coming back ….was going to be …wrong.

I chalked it up to being superstitious, but the million neurones between my gut and head knew this was going to be real.

About 5 days before coming home I stopped sleeping- I would wake up from nightmares about my plane ride home stalling – and me being on it. In one dream the back fuselage exploding in flight. Got so bad two days before flight my sister had me in to her doctor to get sleeping pills.

The day before my flight home we went to Giverney- to Claude Monet’s house . I was very edgy that day, dreading this upcoming trip back. Driving back to my sisters in Bordeaux- ( about a 2 hour drive) I saw a statue in a field. This is the setting where I do believe ‘something unworldly’ happened. I made my brother in law stop his suv – and I got out. They thought I was mad, but I actually walked out to the middle of the field- a good quarter mile away. You could not see what that statue was from the car – just a grey lump in a field. I was – compelled? – just knew this ‘act ‘ was somehow going to get me across the ocean and back home safe. I am christened, but not religious. I had no plan when I saw it, it was totally weird- as though something was acting thru me. It was a signal- a sign . Meant for me.

When I got to statue- it was so old – it was obviously Mary- I crumpled. Just laid my hands on it was begged – pleaded- for help.

‘Please let me get back to my children and husband safe’. Over and over and my tears mixed with the wind.

My sister and brother-in-law obviously thought I was nuts when I got back. I just told them I wanted to pray for a safe trip. The looks on their faces!!! I asked my brother in law why a farmer would leave a statue so old in the field. Fred replied they’re from the Middle Ages, some of them and the farmers often leave them in fields for it would be back luck to remove them.

The next morning was my direct flight from De Gaulle Airport to Vancouver.

I knew instantly it was going wrong – my flight was ‘delayed’ . Almost 3 hours and 3 Valium later we were marched across tarmac to the plane – not the 767 Jet as my ticket promised- but to a 80 seater 180 Cessna. I wanted to run back to terminal. Btwn the Valium and faith I told myself I was going to do this and make it.

Somewhere btwn Saskatchewan and Alberta – there was an awful noise in the back of the plane. It was hell in a plane after that. We all thought we’d crash- the lady beside me and I were holding hands. Lights came on, bells ringing and the Captain saying we weren’t going to make it over the Rockies- but not why-we were emergency landing in Calgary. Did not go over well with my fellow passengers.

We all had to assume crash position for landing – it sounded like the plane was going to explode from the back. When we were finally stopped -I could not get out fast enough- I was basically climbing over people because I could- I’m 5’2 and 90 lbs.

On the terminal West Jet was offering free flights for any of us on that plane to Vancouver. Only myself and one other lady out of 60+ passengers would do it. I just had no fear – I KNEW my flight from hell was done and I made it through.

Everyone looked traumatized and were booking buses , cars – anyway to Vancouver but not in a plane. When I was told I had to wait a half hour I went out to have a cigarette and saw my stewardess crew – 2 girls and a guy – a little ways away. The girls were crying and the guy was trying to console them, but he looked white as a ghost. I literally RAN to them and yelled ‘What the hell went on up there?’ and then I found out. Maybe I should not of asked.

Zoom airline needed a part for one of the engines on our plane. We were delayed 3 hours from take off because Zoom opted not to buy the part in Euros – wanted to wait until we got back to Vancouver. Guy told me we were so lucky to make it down.

Definitely NOT the bs story Zoom put out.

A super nice stewardess ‘baby sat’ me on the Jet from Calgary to Vancouver , she was obviously concerned about my mental condition and constantly told me I was going to be safe now.

I got as far as the bathroom in Vancouver at HorseShoe Bay Ferry Terminal started to change my clothes from flight – I wanted out of them so bad – and I had the first and only panic attack of my life. I had passed out- woke up to ambulance guys – a nice lady in the bathroom saw me go down – and oxygen on my face. I started freaking out I was going to miss my ferry – and the paramedics were Uber decent about it on hearing what Id been thru to get to Vancouver. I just wanted to get HOME, to my place in Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island. They didn’t want me without oxygen , so 2 of them took me onto the ferry on a stretcher. Kept talking me down until we got to the island. My husband and 2 oldest boys came to meet me – I was a complete wreck.

The next morning my flight was all over Global News , announcing Zoom was bankrupt, ( August 28th , 2008) and yesterday was the last day anyone could fly by the airline.

That’s probably a good thing.

I’ve flown since- NEVER had a feeling like this experience since. Universe can tell you what will happen- if you can feel the message. All you have to do is believe.
