Satisfying Leather Engraving
Click to unmute
Engraving makes a regular item personal and one of a kind. California-based artist Mike Ward specializes in a specific type of engraving that looks satisfying not only when finished, but whilst it’s being burned onto the leather as well. It’s called foil engraving, and the magic happens when an artist outlines the design with a pre-heated foil pen that makes the material stick to the surface. Combine it with gorgeous calligraphy and you’re left with a pure eyegasm.

Surely this is 'embossing', not 'engraving'?
Actually it's neither. This is basically heatstamping, but instead of transferring the film with a heated die/stamp, the artist uses a solder iron to do it manually. Quite impressive if you ask me.
Monogramming I thought, but still
The fact that its done by hand! Amazing
Anyone know where I can buy a hot pen/foil pen? I can't find one on Amazon
Michael's Arts & Craft stores sell them
