In honour of Black History Month, cosplayers across social media platforms are participating in #28DaysOfBlackCosplay, including Instagram star Kiera Please.
The 21-year-old Virginia native has taken the Internet by storm with her cool costumes, and we're not just talking about the time she did Storm from X-Men. Whether she takes on anime or American cartoon characters, her ability to transform into any of the famous characters she chooses is truly awe-inspiring.
Kiera is participating in a hashtag challenge created by fellow cosplayer Chaka Cumberbatch that aims to break down racism in the cosplay community. The challenge is a celebration of multiracial talent and promotes equality and inclusion for everyone interested in cosplay, especially young people of color who may otherwise feel unwelcome. Check out her best cosplay looks so far below!

Melpomene From Hercules
Wow she is beautiful :-) She makes even more beautiful Melpomene than the original :-)
what boundaries is she breaking? like no one is racist about this why is it labled like this?
Kida Nedakh From Atlantis: The Lost Empire
Well... Turns out I am not as heterosexual as I thought I was when I started this article. Sweet!
Most underrated badass princesse ever. Happy she's brought to life by a stunning woman!
I thought I was the only one! Nice to see another fan of Atlantas
Load More Replies...i think this has to be the first cosplay of her ive ever seen, nailed it for sure :D
Hermione From Harry Potter
J.K approved both black H in stage play and white H in the films. Take a leaf from her, it's irrelevant.
BEFORE YOU COMPLAIN THAT HERMIONE IS WHITE: The books never say, they just say she has brown eyes and bushy hair
The Hermione from the books could easily be black, or be anything but Caucasian for that matter. She makes for a beautiful Hermione, fitting the vague descriptions well (after she corrected her teeth after the failed polyjuice elixir mind you)
In the stage play approved by the original author of the Harry Potter books Hermione is black.
Nani Pelekai From Lilo & Stitch
Holy c**p! Her Nani outfit!! She could play her in a live action!! It was like Nani was drawn using her as a base model!!! That is insane!! 😍😍 she pulls a few others off excellent too!! ❤
Nothing wrong with that but don't see how she would represent black history month

Chel From The Road To El Dorado
One of my fav movies ever. She's a tough cookie, and looks great! Keep it up
Garnet From Steven Universe
The difference between perfection and just ok is the hair. But, she's hot.
Korra From The Legend Of Korra
Ich liiiiiebe Korra! Ich wette, Katara würde genauso toll an ihr aussehen ^^
I LOVE THIS AS MUCH AS I LOVE THE SHOW. she could honestly play korra in a live action it would be wonderful
"Kiera is participating in a hashtag challenge created by fellow cosplayer Chaka Cumberbatch that aims to break down racism in the cosplay community. The challenge is a celebration of multiracial talent, and promotes equality and inclusion for everyone interested in cosplay, especially young people of colour who may otherwise feel unwelcome." To expand upon that, POC are often treated terribly when trying to enter into cosplay communities. They're generally expected to cosplay the small handful of characters who match their ethnicity and told off for cosplaying anyone else, while "pretty" white girls get praised for cosplaying whoever they please.
Load More Replies...Sadness From Inside Out
As a cosplayer, it's REALLY difficult to do anything with paint on your hands, even if it's sealed. it gets EVERYWHERE
Load More Replies...This is like a distant cousin of sadness or something... They really don't look alike at all.
Doodlebob From Spongebob
Doodlebob used to scare me so much, I'm not saying her cosplay is bad, in fact, I quite like it! It's spot on! Just keep the real Doodlebob away. Please....
Load More Replies...Lana Kane From Archer
Storm From X-Men
other than the hair, brilliant! would've loved if she could've matched the pic's one
No person can look like a drawing, m8. She's actually black, so she has black-person hair and if she made her own hair white, there's no way it would act like the hair in the drawing. Now, if she had gone with Halle Berry's hairstyle when she played Storm... Quite acceptable, in my opinion, as an alternative to what she chose, not that I have a problem with the hair she has here.
Load More Replies...all Storm cosplays are immediately given +10 cool points because, Storm.
Louise Belcher From Bob's Burgers
Tzipporah From The Prince Of Egypt
Not sure why but this reminds me more of Mortal Kombat than the Prince of Egypt :P
I also thought that. The mini shirt maybe...
Load More Replies...Penny Proud From The Proud Family
Best cosplayer I have ever seen, hands down. Never before has a cosplayer played as all of my favorite characters. <3
Stevonnie From Steven Universe
Lottie Person From Snotgirl
Juuzou Suzuya From Tokyo Ghoul
I hate Juuzou Suzuya so much. Ugh. Honestly I can't wait for them to kill him off.
"Racial boundaries"? Since when? From everything I've seen of cosplay anyone and everyone is accepted, no matter their skin colour. It's fun that she's doing this, but why do we always have to bring up race?
That's not the case at all. Many Black people are discriminated against in cosplay. I've seen people be vicious about it! It should be an accepting community, but it is not always. I think most Black cosplayers have been told that they can't do it because of their skin color.
Load More Replies...I've never seen or heard it. I've only seen people get upset if a Caucasian person cosplay a character that's not white, some people get offened...
Load More Replies...Does the headline need to say she is a black cosplayer? Didn't realize it said that when I clicked the link from FB (I was drawn in by pics) but I don't see how her skin color is information needed in the title. She's awesome and her cosplays are amazing- no need to mention her race.
It's Black History Month. Personally, it's fine by me. :)
Load More Replies...Truth be told she looks hot in most photos. She fits perfectly in most cosplays
The part where many Black cosplayers are told they can't or shouldn't cosplay because of their skin color. It happens a lot!
Load More Replies...i'm indian and have dark skin and that makes me hesitant about wanting to cosplay so this just boosted my morale. :D
