What began as a simple job has turned into a surprising friendship between a man and one of Earth’s most efficient predators. 10 years ago, Abdullah Sholeh became nanny to a 3-month-old tiger cub, but they finally became so close that even after the tigress has matured, they spend almost all time together and sometimes even sleep in the same enclosure .

Mulan Jamillah, a beautiful tigress, was donated to the Islamic school in Malang, Indonesia, when she was only 3 months old, and then Abdullah, 25, became her full-time caretaker. His former owner could not take care of her, but the young student was more than happy to devote most of his time to the lovely puppy. The only problem is that what started as a temporary job eventually turned into a full-time friendship, with Abdullah having to spend almost 24 hours with the tiger, earning him the nickname “Nanny.”

They play together, eat together, and sometimes even sleep together in the cat’s enclosure. But despite the affection that Mulan shows his human nanny daily, Abdullah says he is always aware of the risks he runs each time he is close to an animal weighing almost 200 pounds

Like a cat, Mulan often gets carried away while playing with Abdullah, and he has dozens of scratches to prove it. “I was lucky, Mulan’s claws nearly stung my eye,” he says pointing to a scratch on his face. He wears a thick cloth around the neck where Mulan worships as it is a very sensitive area to be scratched or bitten deeply.
