Most people have some kind of a hobby or a thing that they are particularly fond of. Sometimes these things turn into healthy (or not so healthy) obsessions. And that’s how the world’s most interesting collections are born.

My Mom Collects Sand From Beaches All Over The World
My parents collected shells for decades. When they stopped beach combing in their later years, my mother donated almost all of them to her church. One of the other church members converted a cheap mirror into a beautiful showpiece with a number of them. My mother bought it and it hung in their entry way for years. A cousin now owns that piece.
I don't think this is weird, this is pretty awesome! Lucky to have traveled so many places!
I believe it's lava rock, if you take it it's bad luck. At least that's what I understood when I lived there, but things change it may be sand too
Load More Replies...It would be a shame if anything happened to it.... LOL-5a564f...ae5496.jpg
Really cool, but it's illegal to transport foreign soils. Not to mention a lot of beaches forbid people from taking natural elements from the beach, such as sand.
I must be the only person thinking this but which is which is it in order from starting at the top of the list and the bottom of the sand jar or visa versa ?
I think that top matches with the top. So everytime she adds a new sand she must rewrite the whole list. I'd guess she doesn't mind to do it, even the would like it!
Load More Replies...My Grandpa Has Been Collecting Beer Cans For Over Thirty Years, So I Thought I Would Go Ahead And Share His Collection
Actually, beer can collecting is a big deal. When I was in high school, my friend's father had half his basement racked up just like this. Probably a dozen rows of shelves...filled...both sides...floor to ceiling. He would travel around the world attending various beer can collector events. Cans are traded. Many are rare and can go for hundreds of dollars each.
Never heard of this kind of collecting before. Pretty cool. =]
Load More Replies...Ok, I thought my beer bottles collection is cool, but... yeah. Just gonna go hide in a co
was this a collection or he just didn't throw out the empties? Very impressive.
Most would be empty. However, older cans that are full are worth more to a collector because they haven't been damaged by opening them.

Why no online shopping? Since you have access to boredpanda, you have access to Kijiji also?

Load More Replies...I Collect Antique Books (Anything Over 100 Years Old)--But Only From Yard Sales And Thrift Shops. The Oldest So Far Is From 1856.
OK, now THAT's cool! My favorite things to collect are old textbooks and reference books
Load More Replies...Books of that era can be very brittle. They were printed on acidic paper, which also turns the page yellow.
Oh, yes, that's the sad part...and it makes finding such books such a challenge--but also such fun!
Load More Replies...Thanks, but there's no need to be jealous! I collect from yard sales and thrift shops because the prices are so low. I usually pay under a dollar for my books, and I never pay more than $5. Of course, I've left many great books behind with that limit, but it's just a hobby, no need to spend too much.
Load More Replies...Oh, you collect antiques...? My friends say I have a few jokes you can add to your collection...!
I like the restrictions on your collection (only thrift and yard sales)

That is a super rad and unique story about a collection! Please post it!
Load More Replies...When I was a teenager, back in the 90's, I used to collect public phones prepaid cards. The phones used to work on coins, then they changed the system to these plastic cards, that looked like a driver's license or a credit card. Each one of them had different themes, they were very colorful and fun. Must have had hundreds of them. Now I collect fridge magnets from every new country or place I go.
Even though I collect little here, all of these people have very interesting collections, Thank you for sharing!
I went to a guy's house who had a single wide trailer house on his property. The entire thing was filled from front to back ever wall and the ceiling were covered with hot wheels in the package. The supposed expensive collectibles were on shelves arranged through out the house. Btw he had hot wheels toilet paper in the bathroom for those long nights of admiring I guess.
SAD/ MORBID ALERT...I am a groomer and when one of my long time, favorite animals passes away I keep a bit of hair as a momento. ( I work in a vet hospital so that's how I get the bits.) I don't want to share a pic , someone might recognize the names, and tiny brown envelopes are nothing special.
You're thoughtful not to want to hurt their people. I'm sure those animals love/loved you in return.
