We wrote about Ron Mueck’s hyperrealistic artworks three years ago, and now he is back with three more unique artworks. Mueck never rushes the scrupulous process – the cool sculptures, called “Young Couple,” “Woman with Shopping Bags” and “Couple under an Umbrella”, took him two years to create. They will be on exposition in Paris at the Fondation Cartier through September 29.
The sculpture art trio remains consistent with Mueck’s style – London-based artist demonstrates amazing attention to detail in his creative ideas, making it feel as if you’re looking at somebody else’s private and intimate moment or their own mirror. The fact that his realistic artworks usually exceed real-life people sizes does not minimize how real they are.
“I never made life-size figures because it never seemed to be interesting. We meet life-size people every day,” says Mueck.
Mueck is known for not being big on interviews and talking about his beautiful sculptures. The most revealing insights on his work so far were made by photographer Gautier Deblonde, who was exclusively allowed to film a documentary in Mueck’s studio. Even then the artist said very few words in the whole 52-minute film. The hyperrealism speaks for itself!
