My mother is the only person I exchange gifts with each year so we always know who each gift is from. We've come up with a silly tradition where we put different names in the "from" section on our gift tags. For instance, one of the items I'm giving her is a wireless computer mouse, and it says "To Mom, From Mickey Mouse". The tags are always a funny surprise on Christmas and we always look forward to reading each others.
A while back my Halloween spider skeleton was brutally murdered. (Yes I know spiders don’t have bones and I think it’s hysterical) I was hurt, I was angry, I bought a lot more spider skeletons. But they were not going to arrive in time so my friend recommended that I just use them to decorate for the rest of the year.
So now every year I entertain/deeply concern my neighbors with an ever changing pageant of spider skeletons acting out Spider Thanksgiving. They meet, hunt giant fly, cook, feast, watch football. Thanksgiving is followed by Spider Christmas. The spiders build a sleigh out of a giant cardboard box, then paint and decorate it. Then they dress up as reindeer and elves. The formerly broken and largest spider, Swoggles, he’s also a pirate, dresses as Santa. It ends with them launching the sleigh a foot into the air on Christmas Eve to bring gifts to all the spiders of the world!
Such a fun tradition! It reminds me of my neighbors, they always put up the same skeletons dressed up in different scenes every Halloween.
Hubby’s family always wears silly hats (not paper ones from crackers). We look all year to find them then one person wins the best hat. Usually change once or twice during the day to wear old favorites. Each family has a hat box to keep them in.
My dad would hide a pickle ornament and whoever found it first won a prize. Another thing my family would do is fill a see-through snowman jar with Christmas M&Ms.

When I complained to my friend about this travesty of timing, she suggested that I just leave them out for the rest of the year. So I asked, you mean like have spiders pulling a sleigh for Christmas? And she said “EXACTLY”

For Spider Thanksgiving the spinions enact the first Spider Thanksgiving. They meet, go hunting for giant fly, cook, feast and watch football (both versions).
For Spider Christmas. The spinions begin with a large cardboard box which they cut into a sleigh, paint and decorate. They then dress as reindeer and elves with Swoggles as Santa, hat beard and all. In the end, row by reindeer spider row they launch into the air until the whole thing is a foot off the ground on Christmas Eve as they take off to deliver gifts to all the spiders of the world who believe. It’s a short trip.
Well, it's not weird (idk) but my family always gives out bags of oranges and individual sodas to the kids. It's just always been a tradition. Also, my family has started the german "christmas pickle" thing. It's where one person hides the pickle ornament on the christmas tree and whoever spots it first, gets the first present and has good luck for the new years. :)
We make Christmas doughnuts. Not super weird, but it’s a very important family tradition/recipe, and we do it every year (except the one year my mom forgot to add the sugar. It was 2016 anyways so we just pretend it never happened).
The nativity scene in my house has a little toy dolphin in it, i have no idea why but i insisted on putting it there when i was little and it still joins the other decorations 😅
Put salt in my room then sweep it after New Year’s. A simple spell for good holidays.
Every Christmas Eve night my brother and I went out in the freezing cold in our pjs and threw glittered oatmeal on the grass to feed the reindeer. Now my kids and nephews continue that tradition.
