We all know those things that everyone claims to love…but secretly, most people might not actually enjoy. What’s something you think 90% of people are just pretending to enjoy? Share your thoughts below!

Football. You are watching a bunch of overpaid prima donnas playing kick about with an inflated pigs bladder.
I watched a match once. Red shirts versus blue shirts. Apparently it was a crucial game because one of the teams could get some points or something. It was criminally boring.
Years later a supposed friend said I should watch another match, saying how important it was. White shirts versus orange shirts. Something to with having the world's biggest cup or something, and I had to watch it for patriotism and loyalty and love of my country etc.
I swear to you, apart from the different coloured shirts it was the exact same match I had watched years ago. Ooh look they have passed the ball. Ooh look they have lost the ball. Ooh look the other team have kicked the ball towards the wooden frame with the net. Fascinating.
I did feel sorry for the bloke in black, he was running up and down the pitch more than most yet he hardly ever got a touch of the ball! Very unfair.
It seems my whole town goes shopping on game day to load up on beer, as if enjoying it sober is not an option.
I feel the same way about NASCAR. 200 to 500 laps of "look! he made a left! Oh! he made another left!"
I was bored several years ago. I watched England play Portugal in the final of some important thing. Like you say, a bunch of people running up and down the field. Then there was extra time so they could do it a bit more. Then some extra extra time. And finally, getting sick of all of this, they just had a bunch of them line up and somebody else kick a ball through the people lined up. Whatever, Portugal won. Just think of all the trouble they could have saved if they did that end bit first. Get the winner declared after two minutes and then two hours for drinking beer/tea, which sounds a lot better to me.
My follow up rant on football, should anyone ask, is literally this! Make it penalties only, let's face it, this is the most exciting part of the whole sport, let everyone have a go, so they all have a chance to score, no faffing, get it wrapped up quick and everyone for an go about their day.
Load More Replies...American football is even worse. And due to the rules, one game can drag on for hours.
Not with you on this my friend. I love football. It's the drama and skill on display. You have to be invested in the outcome of the match though. If you don't care, then you don't. But if you put your heart into a team, as they approach goal you feel your hope start to soar. You see an opening in the play, and your adrenaline is pumping. They take their shot, but the keeper was too fast. Now your team is on defense, and that hope very quickly switches to anxiety. It's a rollercoaster of emotions, and very cathartic. Not saying everyone should love it, but I do. I have a few teams I am passionate for. My national team, Brazil, of course. Botafogo, my home team. And to a lesser extent, Arsenal, in your country. I grew connected to the team when I lived in London, and all my friends were fans. We'd go to the pub to watch matches, and watching them play reminds me of those good times.
Yeah, I get it. Just like painting is simply a bunch of paint on a canvas. I saw one, then another, and they looked the same. And music is just the same notes rearranged in different patterns, right? Yeah, I heard a song before, then I heard another one. It was just the same notes all over again. And books? Oh, man. Don’t get me started on books. You know there are only 26 letters in the alphabet, right? And all books in English contain different combinations of the same 26 letters? Yeah, I’m totally with you on this.
Loud bars or clubs.
Who wouldn't want to pay $20 for a drink while dancing to the decibel equivalent of a jet engine as sweaty men try to grope you?!
Celebrity/influencer drama
It's the fact that 90% of people DO enjoy this that makes me sad for the world.
Babysitting toddler grandchildren.
Holidays (as a mom). I gave up the "I love this time of year!" charade last year when I was around other moms, and every single one agreed it's the worst (even the ones posting endless pictures of their godforsaken elves on shelves.
I am not a fan of the Christmas. It's too much pressure, particularly in having to travel to visit family. Halloween is where it's at.
Being Alive.
I think most people, even in relatively wealthy societies, suffer stress and other negativities most of the time. We are chasing after desires that don’t really satisfy. Relief is only momentary before we feel the impulse to start chasing after the next thing. We are always either running away from something or chasing after something. And this very moment of being alive is lost.
This deserves more votes. It’s pretty profound, if you think about it.
The internet in general. It was fun back in the 90s, when only smart people and quirky, nerdy people were interested in it. As soon as business people figured out they could make money out of it, that changed. Now most people have to use it at work. And you can’t do even the most basic daily tasks without an app, an account, a password, and 2FA. It’s gotten so that if you make me log into an account, I don’t want to do [whatever.]
I just want to read an article! I don't want to have to create an account, give you all of my personal info, phone number and email so you can spam me infinitely, give you my first born and a leg of my turkey from Thanksgiving dinner! JUST THE ARTICLE!
Church.
Being social for sociability's sake, not because you really like the person(s) and want to spend time with them.
Trust, if I don't want to be around you, I can ignore you so hard you'll begin to doubt your own existance!
Wine and beer. Stuff tastes absolutely horrible.
Coldplay. The result of someone asking what musical beige would look like.
To me, Coldplay is a band created to make music for car commercials. And that's okay, their songs make excellent music for car commercials.
Pants! 🤣 And kale.
I love pants. Skirts are drafty and my thighs rub together all the time
Super hot food and jazz music.
I don’t like the particular kind of jazz that jumps all over the place; it gets on my nerves. Give me blues instead.
Death scrolling, unwanted invites, quiet time alone, influencer videos, pumpkin spice, matcha drink ( however you spell it).
S*x! Just the act is for most women absolutely not a pleasure, and men think they are overachievers!
Self-service….that way, you always get what you want. 😏
Patriotism.
And, oh look, patriotism is on the rise all over the place. The outlook is NOT great.
Music festivals and camping there
I did an Alpine Valley WI Grateful Dead show in the late 1980s. Two days on, a day off and two days on. Oh that was a crazy wonderful experience. We got pulled over on the way home, by WI state police. They are N-P*o dudes and you pay or are jailed. Rachel was driving my car, we had 5 people in a Nissan Pulsar and the cop needed my permission to search. He opened the trunk and I looked at him and said "If you are going to take that all out to search it, then you have to fit it all back in." No search, they let us go. Rachel paid the fine, she was driving so it was all on her, even though it was my car.
Work.
Thats not necessary true. You just have to find the right type of work that you enjoy. I work in a kindergarten and I love it.
Nirvana. I get that they were a big thing wgen they started bc it was basically a completely new style. But for today they simply sound boring as f**k.
I think that most people like them because everyone around them do and because of Kurt Cobain.
I've got a theory that it was exactly this sound that hit the nerve of the era. The soundtrack of having no idea how the present situation should turn out in the future.
Sleeping in a tent. As an adult. I think my kids could have slept on a bed of nails
As an adult, I find ensuring the ground is adequately distanced from my body with reliable padding in a sleeping bag. It is getting out of and upright that has become the challenge of a lifetime.
Life. It's nothing but grinding cruelty.
I'm sorry you feel that way. I hope you find some little cracks of light soon.
Bored Panda
For me BP is one of those "is what it is" places. I like the smaller and often quirky user base to interact with but it is still mostly just when I'm bored. And, "anyone can write on BP". I found this specifically looking for user submissions and not recycled content. Have a great day. 😊
Working out it really depends on the workout. Running is absolutely terrible and I don't understand why people enjoy it so much and act like it's the most superior form of cardio. And salads can definitely be good with the right ingredients
