Hey Pandas, What’s Something That Drives You Insane When Reading Comments Here? (Closed)
I love reading the comments when I'm here, ironically I seek the downvoted ones just to see how bizarre they can get.
So I wanna ask what makes you usually dislike or downvote a comment?

Random people seeing keywords and hating on it. Anything with “vaccine”(this one not so much anymore), “gay”, “left/right (politics)”, and “trans”, just have trolls under it for no reason
YES! And sometimes the religious folk! I may be religious but I try real hard to not be a homophobic transphobic racist bigot people think I am!
If someone draws that conclusion from something I said: 1) I probably miscommunication my thoughts or I’m high strung at the moment or 2) they can think whatever the heck they want about me T-T You can hate me but not my religion, you can hate my opinion but not my life, and if I come across as a bigot in any way, fine. You can be sensitive and offended, I don’t have to care about what you think of me. It’s not like you did something to earn my respect of what you think of me, right? Gosh that sounds rude, but it’s how I feel! You can care as much about my opinion of you as I do! I don’t care. I don’t care. I’d rather we make peace, but as soon as you’ve gotten some pre-conceived notion of me, who’s the bigot? I’ll care once you do. Not directed at you Sunshine, sorry T-T
Load More Replies...I can agree 100% i do make some y'know offensive humor sometimes but not here , i do it with friend's About each other. Its honestly sad and im a hypocrite for saying it as i said some things i shouldn't have here
The imbecilic hate, the "Karen" comments ("you should've done this") , the rAnDoM cAp writers. BUT- I'm more irritated by the writers who use reddit threads or ridiculous trending tiktok posts and just reiterate the material from either format to reiterate the same information ad infinitem to make an article long and seem interesting when the topic is rarely interesting ("someone wants to know if they were right when they blew a simple scenario out of proportion"). When I see reddit or tiktok, I automatically downvote. (I have problems with creating content on BP, so I'm trying to be kind. I have technical issues) There are a lot of regular Pandas who make interesting comments that create or carry a discussion, and I enjoy their participation. The rest, I ignore.
True. Guilty of it, myself. However I do limit it to only when I'm purely mocking someone, and rarely. It takes a lot longer for me to type it out when I have to think of pressing caps every second letter.
Load More Replies...To be fair i have done cap lower cap lower before because the joke as far as i know is *mocking* text but i could stop instantly out of respect. I agree too calling someone a *Karen* insults the name, not everyone named Karen is a bad person
The use of “slaaay” can get a tad cringy at times.
Fr but whatever it’s not our body we can’t control what others say.
Omg slay the day away queen (that's the point, that's the joke haha we're all making fun of it)
I usually don't downvote any thing but the bots, but they've been getting more creative with their choice of words.
Hello I recently started a job at Peer Med Screen and I had made $1,000,000 per hour. To get started click here ---> www.tonsofvirusesandhackers.com
The spelling and grammar errors are part of the joke.
Load More Replies...Shockingly I've encountered more bots during my days on ps3 then i have here haha
Major; being transphobic for no good reason, like seriously dude what did we get to deserve this Minor; people who proudly call themselves grammar nazis like bro seriously, language changes and evolves, if you can understand what people mean then it's okay and you need to let it go
We deserve it because we slightly inconvenienced their language by not allowing them to determine what words to use based on what is in our pants. /s
Transphobes are just people who whine about words and genitals.
Load More Replies...I'm one of those "proud grammar nazis" you mention. Yes, language evolves & I have no problem with that. My problem is people who should be able to carry on a decent conversation in English not caring what their post looks like or how it reads, simply butchering words and meaning. I'm not even talking about punctuation or spelling. I have many friends who live overseas and most have commented on the fact that Americans that do this make all of us look like uneducated idiots to foreigners. And those doing it don't care how they come across, let alone the rest of us. I don't go around correcting people like some do. But I can't understand why you would let others believe that you are so ignorant that you would post such blatant drivel online for the world to see. And be proud of it.
You're saying I'm ignorant for this? Maybe learn to respect other human beings. Some people have been raised in communities that tend to use different spellings and grammar forms than you and that doesn't make them wrong. Just because you think they look uneducated (which is kind of classist and a bit racist imo, a lot of the issues y'all grammar jerks have are with things that are common in AAVE) doesn't mean any of us care or anyone should care. If foreigners are judging all Americans on the fact that a few Americans don't use technically perfect English, said foreigners are a******s and you really shouldn't care. Your friends sound not great. Spellings shift, meanings of words shift, and if someone is using a word in a way that you weren't taught, it's perfectly fine as long as most people can understand them. If you can't and it seems like everyone around you can't, you might need to brush up on your modern English.
Load More Replies...it’s when i make any kind of normal comment, then i get somebody who replies to my normal comment with “they/he 🤦🏼😂🤣🤪🤪it’s he/him or she/her, only two genders” like what the hell? i didn’t even say anything about being trans and you go and harass me because i stated my pronouns to let people know them without having to ask???? argh.
Im gonna get so much hate for this and i apologize why do i need to see (she/her) (he/her/them) yada yada in your name, its not that i don't care its, your someone online i don't need to know what you identify as, if your proud of it im so happy for i mean it! Please be proud of you. But do i really need it crammed in my face in your username? Cant you just put it on your profile? Please explain to me too whats so trendy about it , but understand too I dont mean to put anyone down
It is to prevent people from misgendering us, people would not be able to guess my gender from my username and misgendering could have a dangerous affect on someone's mental health. It can also inform people that we are proud of our identity or show support for the trans community.
Load More Replies...I have seen the transphobic troll claim that we shouldn't put pronouns in our usernames because they can figure out what to call us without them, this is the internet, we are all anonymous, how would they identify our gender?
it’s completely beyond me 💀💀
Load More Replies...I also find the trans and woke annoying. I also chuckle that many have at least two degrees that will never make them a living.
People judging *perfectly fine photos* even though the person who posted them was ok with posting them
I think mine is people engaging with trolls. It's very nobel trying to fight the trolls but that's what they want. They want you to argue they get off on knowing they have annoyed you. You will also never change their mind. Just downvote them and don't comment.
It's a matter of knowing who the trolls are and the people who merely disagree but do so in a very harsh way at first. If they come back with an apology or admit they were harsh, then they are not a troll. You can also check out their other comments to people. If you see a pattern of them being disrespectful they are definitely trolls.
This is like extinguishing a fire by throwing sticks at it, but I would still like to throw sticks at the trolls.
I try to do this but it's really hard when they start spreading lies about you specifically and going after you on public posts. It's gone way too far and we need a blocking system
Yeah I understand that if they start attacking you personally you need to defend yourself it's gotta hurt.
Load More Replies...Probably why people downvote me and don’t say anything. They think I’m a troll •-•
I don't think you're a troll or DP or Gunzo just young and opinionated and there is nothing wrong with that.
Load More Replies...is it just me, or is everyone...on edge? i mean, I'm definitely guilty of this too, but there's been more fights and political stuff and trolls and just more hate in general.
On edge. we all spent a few covid years as ME time, then went outside to realize the world changed. Climate, natural disasters that impact crops and peoples homes. Homeless from all walks of life, mass shootings, rolling back women's rights to proper healthcare, government promoting christian ignorance, Florida making new insane laws like paving roads with radioactive waste, chemicals everywhere. . . . . . .
I think it's because of all the turmoil in the States and the Ukraine vs. Russia war that's been dividing people.
Downvotes
Im guilty of them, i feel like BP should have a private dislike system like YouTube
I agree! Sometimes downvotes are necessary in order to hide bigoted comments
Load More Replies...The problem with that is they can upvote themselves
Load More Replies...Like the #1 submission says, I’m tired of the trolls showing up and agitating everyone. I’m also tired of those meh articles that have touchy subjects in them. I don’t mean we should shy away from them, but they tend to set people off. And of course those who stray from the “correct” path of thought get downvoted and bashed unmercifully. Not even always the trolls. It’s just, what would you say or do if that person you’re downvoting was in front of you? Give them the thumbs down sign and walk away? That’s how I feel when someone downvotes something. They just silently say “you’re so wrong, idiot” and walk away without an explanation or reason they did so. Am I supposed to automatically know why I’m wrong if all I get are downvotes? And then there’s the comments. If I get a comment, being rude or whatever, I tend to reply to it logically (in my mind) and calmly. Sometimes people just set me off, and I try not to be because once I say something set off, there’s no mercy, even if I apologize. And even if I do react calmly, everyone is always guarded! I swear I can feel the prickles on my skin from the hedgehogs that curl up into little balls when in discussions. I get it, people on here hardly know a thing about you, yet they’re attacking your whole existence, your whole life, like they’re right there next to you also living it. It’s awful that people feel and react this way. The responses to ANYONE with a different opinion shouldn’t be defensive or harsh. Especially if they present it respectfully, knowing they’re in the minority on here. That’s the thing. Sometimes I comment stuff knowing people won’t agree with me, and I expect downvotes. -4 downvotes and still no explanation other than my assumption, and I’m left wondering again why I ever open my stupid mouth.
Sometimes people just can't handle a sensitive truth i upvoted this because im glad you came out. If i say something iffy i want people to tell me so i can elaborate, not silently shun, so i understand
People assume that we all have the exact same definition and connotations with words that others do. This is simply not the case. Meaning can get lost when the reader assumes a word having a subtley different meaning to the one intended by the writer. Some respectful discussion can find common ground, but often people jump straight to belittling or insulting.
Load More Replies...I think I understand where you are coming from P.C. In almost all situations there is a degree of nuance to an argument, but it sometimes feels like we HAVE to pick a side. One side will get upvotes and the other is the 'bad' opinion and therefore deserves the downvotes. I prefer a discussion where each person has a chance to clearly state their views.
The problem is that you can't reply to comments with 4 downvotes :(
Misspelling and improper grammar.
Guilty, for me its because mobile often tries to give me correct grammar which ends up looking worse.
I don't see it too often but every now and again I see "I could care less" it's "I couldn't care less". I could care less makes no sense in the context people try to use it in. Your trying to tell people that you care so little that it's impossible to care any less, when you go and say "I could care less" you are saying that you are able to care less than you currently do.
That's it leave and never darken our door again. Honestly using the wrong you're.
Load More Replies...My bugbear is the use of the generation terms - boomers, gen x, gen z, millenials, and so on. I have no clue what approximate age any of these categorizations are (I'm aware that I could look it up). I believe the terms were invented for marketing people to sell us more s**t so that's one reason to not get involved. Second reason is that it is just another form of lazy stereotyping. We're finally getting to a place where stereotyping people according to race, gender, sexuality etc is frowned upon (I know we still have a way to go), but stereotyping people according to age is considered completely fine. I just don't understand why.
People will argue it's a "mindset" not an age. The generations are actually about age brackets and what those eras of generations meant for those born in the years. That's about it. It's nothing to do whether or not one grew up "feral" and the other grew up addicted to tech. I recall our parents in the 90s had just as hard enough time keeping the kids off the screen. The only difference is parents could take the remote and send the kids outside or to the other room to watch TV there.
I appreciate your thoughtful and reasoned reply
Load More Replies...People that are people being people and acting like people because they are people being people
This sentence both makes total sense and confuses the hexagon out of me at the same time
Not being able to reply to a -4 vote comment. The unfair -10 votes and you're out policy. Americans gatekeeping every topic and making it all about their issues and no one else from any other nation can have a different opinion, situation, and automatically, unapologetically assuming every article has to do with America/Americans unless clearly stated otherwise. "Wrong. In the USA...." on an article having to do with European countries.
I tried to put a post up about the Ashes because there are never any articles that include the Australians. Thought a bit of harmless banter between the Brits and the Aussies about Cricket would be fun but BP didn't publish it.
Load More Replies...I can't wait for the European reaction when the U.S. pulls out of NATO. Putin will surely agree with you Pandas.
ppl that are so mean just bc they don't agree with you.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and i agree with youm when i try to state my opinion if its against someone elses i try so hard to elaborate and explain myself kindly
For me it's emoji's, no offense i cant stand them. I mean once or twice it can be fun, but i find spamming them can be obnoxious. Especially when they really have no need to be there. But that's just my personal opinion i wont downvote for it ^^
What do you think of this one🐈⬛? (In case you can't see it, it is a black cat emoji)
Its what i used on discord before i got nitro admittedly
Load More Replies...Don't make me feel bad im not saying dont use em just, all im saying is i never understood spamming the same one to describe something ^^"
Load More Replies...People that demand that your "cite" facts just because they disagree with you. Sure, they could look up those facts themselves, but where's the fun in that when you can just say "Uh uh! Your wrong!" (note the misspelling of "you're" - another pet-peeve).
I don't ask to cite fact's, i just tend to ask if something is true as I've never heard of it
The whole “you can think whatever you want, as long as it matches my opinion”, and downvoting someone just because you don’t agree with what they are saying. WE HAVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH PEOPLE!
Yes, this is precisely why I’ve stopped downvoting people
When you post a link in the comments, they don't send you to the links page. It's not clickable
Anybody being rude to me. Dissing me. Calling me names. Oh and..idk..telling me that my family secretly hates me or even mentioning my family..but who would say something so f@#$ed up? Hmmmmm..
I would like to be able to mention Donald Trump without people jumping up my tailpipe about it. I don't necessarily want to advance his political agenda, but the man is not VoIdemort, I would like to speak his name.
Pearl-clutching, finger wagging, and holier than thou attitudes with certain topics.
Too many words
Yeah i can understand that, unless its the actual Post, comments don't need to be paragraphs long
White flag Val, white flag 🏳️
Yes. Please. I don’t need another tie-in to a puppy photo about what it has to do with politics.
Load More Replies...Dear Pandas: if a story sounds fake, particularly the Too Good to be True revenge stories, please don't encourage more fibbies by posting how great the story is, which encourages more of them
