How are some people such complete idiots? I see people talk about being antivaxxers or saying the earth is flat, and I cannot comprehend how a person can be so stupid..
You can't comprehend it because you're educated, so you can't comprehend being uneducated.
I'm not sure this is the whole reason but yes, one of them. I think people actually want to "be different" and a club member of sorts. To belong to a group and feel heard even if it's bs.
Load More Replies...Antivaxxers and flat earthers consider themselves critical thinkers. Their thinking is so critical that their brain activity is reduced to zero. And that explains their illogical logic and contradicting arguments to explain theories that can't be explained without admitting that they are flawed.
I was thinking about this the other day as I watched a woman walking down a narrow street across a bridge in heavy traffic barefoot and yammering on her phone. She was so distracted with her phone, she nearly got clipped by a car and then got pissed because a guy honked at her when she stepped out in front of him without looking.
1, there are evil people lying to controll people, 2, trolls, 3, people who are actually stupid, and 4, people "brainwashed" often not on purpose, by parents or similar from the above categories
Lack of education for one thing. Believing those who are supposed to be leaders rather than thinking for ourselves for another.
I think half are thick as f**k............ and the other half are nearly thick as f**k but have come to the conclusion that a contrary viewpoint gives them the attention they want so are happy to pretend to be thick as f**k
I read yesterday where someone tweeted that 'breast milk isn't really milk, it's just a bodily fluid, why would your feed that to your child, you might as well let them drink your pee' I was like WHAT??? How stupid can you be????
I believe it comes down to two things, for most of these people... 1) a certain amount of mental illness - there are a LOT of people walking the streets, holding down good jobs etc, and they are objectively pretty bat-s**t nuts - and 2) an inability to comprehend that their comfortable life could be shaken up so much, especially if they have had very little exposure to the world and history, and a lot of exposure to TV. A kind of denial.
Why isn't there a test to pass before you can have kids?
Because who would make the tests and how can you trust them to make them fair?
Who makes the tests that determine whether we can drive a car, become a licensed physician, etc.? This argument needs to be retired.
Load More Replies...If it's "the most important job in the world", why is it bestowed on literally anyone with the right combination of bodily fluids? I know how a light bulb works, so that makes me a certified electrician? I know how to spell "politics", so make me President? I can make my headaches go away, so I'm the right person to operate on your brain tumor? No. Qualifications need to be in play. You see evidence every single day of people who should never have been allowed to reproduce.
Why is there no test to vote? Because both have devastating consequences. It's called freedom of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Not to mention eugenics creeping in.
Some counties have tried that and are still doing it. Wrong religion, forced abortion. Mental disability, forced abortion. Wrong race, forced abortion... T
Why the hell isn't the Patriot Act being used against the people involved in the January 6th capital attack? I keep seeing folks getting turned in by others, not found by the FBI. Even the person leaving bombs is on video using a phone, how can they not find this person? Isn't this exactly what the Patriot Act was for?
That's a good question. I would think these people would qualify as terrorists.
They use the Patriot Act for everything except what it was intended for.
9/11 was the excuse used to bring it into being. I'm not sure that's what its actual purpose is, though. Example: Your very good question about 1/6!
No, the cynically named Patriot Act was a way to get U.S citizens to willingly give up their personal privacy and allow the government to spy on them. While you (and the rest of the world) were reeling in shock from the horrific September 11th attacks in 2001, the Bush/Cheney administration very rapidly signed this into law in the name of "homeland security", so they could more easily embark on their war crimes with impunity. It worked.
As we've seen many times since then, there's a significant percentage of fucktards who will literally swallow anything that has the word "patriot" attached to it in some way. They are almost unconditionally NOT patriots themselves, but good luck telling them that.
Load More Replies...The Patriot Act focuses more on the financial side of terrorism and is aimed at intercepting and obstructing terrorism. So it's a means of prevention while the US is now investigating the terrorist act of January 6. To this day 638 people have been arrested and charged with a list of several hundred wanted people that's updated daily. I'd say that the authorities are doing fine considering that all the insurgents were allowed to leave the scene of the crime.
it does have a provision for cellular tracking: The "roving wiretap" provision (Section 206) allows the government to tap every device a person uses — landline, cell phone, laptop, etc. — with just one approval from the (famously permissive) Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court. And the "lone wolf" provision (Section 207) allows the government to surveil someone who might be engaged in international terrorism, even if he or she is not actually connected to any existing terrorist group.
Load More Replies...Why is there enough money for war but not enough to give people free health care. Why haven't we, the rich western world, given covid vaccines to the poor countries around us. Have we become so immune to others suffering?
Politics and hidden agendas, basically. Rich, powerful people get what they want through bribery and they force propaganda onto people, which usually sticks for those who don't have a good background (it feels better to blame things on other people and you'll end up hatin ghtme because you've been told to). Those who control such things always want more because they are mentally ill and there is profit in war, but not in looking after people. The rest of us look on and feel despair at this situation, but it's hard for us to make a difference.
The lack of universal healthcare in the U.S. is shameful and indefensible but we are providing Covid-19 vaccine to other countries at least partly in our own interest. Biden says "We can't build a wall high enough to keep us safe from Covid in other countries".
Yes, we all are to a point but we (western world) are talking about a 3rd jab when trillions haven't even had the first.
Load More Replies...though i agree with the sentiment, the objective truth really stems from our inherent quality of laziness and a completely different set of priorities. Since wars are a more immediate threat, people usually understand they cannot procrastinate, having seen it with their eyes. Since we can unfortunately not fathom the pain of thousands of people (stalin even remarked on this as a strategy for dictators), we have never been able to understand the suffering of many others, only of those we know or are able to relate to. It's a real shame, yes
The real question is why does congress get to control defense spending.
"Have we become so immune to others suffering?" Don't even have to go that far with it. It is in everyone's best interest that everyone be vaccinated.
Yes, but should we be talking about a 3rd jab when countries in afrika, south america and asia haven't even had a first jab!
Load More Replies...War makes money. Haliburton anyone? In Eisenhower's farewell State of the Union, he warned us to beware the Military Industrial Complex. Once upon a time soldiers did their own laundry, peeled their own potatoes. Now, these are contracted out at enormous prices e.g. $100 charged the American tax payer per load of laundry. Sheck out the doc "Iraq for Sale."
Why do we allow religious schools? Why not keep religion at home and let kids learn about reality in an honest way without also indoctrinate them outside of home?
I thoroughly agree with this. Just as we should keep state and religion separated (we have a conservative Christian polical party here that only let women put themselves up for election like five years ago).
I totally agree with this. Religion is for the home and church. Not in goverments (I don't vote for a "christian" political party) and certainly not in schools.
Because we strive to be a tolerant nation, which includes religious tolerance.
That is contradictory. Forcing religion on kids is against their freedom.
Load More Replies...Why in the 21st Century with the evidence to refute any of the 3000 gods, do we have religion at all?
Religious schools have to be accredited, just like public schools, if they want their graduates to have a chance at college. If they weren't, parents could be arrested for not sending their kids to school.
That doesnt mean their cream of the crop schools either though. It's cruel to shove religion down kids throats and give them a half asses education.
Load More Replies...Because you can choose whether or not to send your child to those schools. Its NOT indoctrination and those people beleive it IS reality.
Because we have religious freedom. It's literally the 1st thing in the Bill of Rights. Why? Because the Founders did not want government dictating religion, as had happened with the Church of England. And, because we have freedom. They don't have the right to force their religion on you, and you don't have the right to deny them theirs.
Yet they force it on kids. And you are acting like I eant to ban religion, I do not. I just don't understand why kids cannot get a chance of an honest education.
Load More Replies...The trick to “religious” schools is more about tax brackets and concentrated education. You can send a child to a private catholic school and it doesn’t have a thing to do with the Catholicism.
Why do people have to be racist and sexist and homophobic? Why can't everyone accept eachother?
I think it's because they are afraid. Afraid of things, people, tendencies or cultures they are unfamiliar with. Afraid that accepting different people or views might imply that their iwn are not the only "right" views on life.
That is a great question that I'm sure many other people would like to know the answer to as well.
humans evolved to live in exceptionally small groups which made it useful for them trust those like them and instantly dislike who were not. this led to the evolution of many such traits including xenophobia, racism and others. Sexism has different roots but all in all every person must make an active effort rebel against genetics and society to accept each other. only then will we evolve
How does anyone over the age of 14 take seriously a person whose job title is "Influencer"?
I don’t think anyone should disparage anyone for the job that they have. If they’re productive, good for them. If they’re doing something that they enjoy, double that.

Load More Replies...Why do people with billions of dollars (a) resist paying taxes (b) hold on to their billions when they could do so much good in the world by giving most of it away and still have more than enough left for a comfortable life?
I would say; sheer greed, superiority and the desire for power / control. The problem is that many of these people get so disconnected from reality that they have no idea how badly they're hurting others. Or they just don't care. Or worst- they enjoy it. Other people are no longer human beings with thoughts and feelings, they're just things to use and abuse. They love feeling like they're above the rest of us, and delight in keeping others under their thumb. No amount of money will ever be enough for these people. They simply hoard wealth, do everything possible to get more, and do everything in their power to avoid paying out their fair share for living in the society they're exploiting. I agree, it's unthinkable and it's taken me years to unwrap the mindset. It's scary.
A lot of those people DO share their money. Of course there are a lot of billionaire idiots out there but there are also probably a lot of nice ones too. I dont understand why people hate them so much though, especially if they earned the money themselves.
Exactly. People seem to think if your worth is in the billions that means all that money is in your bank account. Not the case.

Why do some LGBTQ+ people openly despise CIS/CISgendered people?
Hate usually doesn't have a logical reason. It could be that they were themselves despised for being LGBTQ. It could be that they were influenced by others of the LGBTQ community who were hated on. People can be sheep and too few think for themselves. It doesn't make it right but that's life.
Sometimes people in the community feel vindicated in it because it's reactionary, but hate is hate, and it's always wrong. Why do some non-LGBT+ people openly despise LGBT+ people?
That the gender they were born as is the gender they identify as
Load More Replies...Hi there. I am a nonbinary gay person. I don't despise all cis people, but some of them who use that privilege openly and don't feel bad about it, I don't like/care for/interact with willingly. As I am also black, straight white cis men have a HUGE advantage over me and other queer people of color. Hope that answers your question!
That’s pretty much exactly what I was thinking!
Load More Replies...We don’t just hate on random cis people, we do to the homophobes, who despise us.
I've never, ever met an LGBTQ+ person who hated Cis/Straight/Hetero anyone. I have, however, met many Cis/Straight/Hetero people who hated LGBTQ+ person. If you have met LBGTQ+ people who did, it is probably because they have been on the receiving end of the hate directed at their group.
We don't...We hate homophobes my parents are cis/het but they accept me as Pan/gender fluid
It is always a mystery why people who are hated become so hareful. Yes, you have been mistreated but hating and geenralising others is definitely making it worse. For example as a migrant i get a lot of xenophobia. It is easy ti fall into hate but its just going to make me and others more unhappy and hateful.
It isn't the LGBs doing this. And it isn't men they despise, it's the women.
I am the T. I don't hate anyone unless they're hostile to me.

As someone who is very anti-abortion, I don't understand the thinking on this. As long as women are desperate, traumatized, terrified, there will be abortion whether it is legal or not. It might as well be made safe.
I appreciate your perspective. And people aren't "pro abortion". People are pro choice and pro access to medical care. The reality is abortions have happened, are happening and will happen. The fact that access to specific medical care is a political and religious issue in the US is one of our biggest failures. Everyone can have their opinion and thought about this, but Texas isn't the only state that needs to be under scrutiny right now. Check out how clinics and providers have been extinguished all through the South.

Because in the US curriculum decisions are not made at a federal level but at the state and local level and religious people on school boards and religious advocacy parent groups prevent sex ed
I agree that sex-ed should be given at all schools but why can't parents? My mum taught me all I needed to know at a young age and sex-ed at school was also given, we called it biology!
Load More Replies...Not sure what country you are speaking of but I recall signing a form allowing my son to attend a sex ed class a couple years ago.
My mom signed for me to learn about periods. The actual sex Ed hasn’t happen yet In my school district, but I know it exists.
Load More Replies...There is sex ed in schools. They even teach how to put on a condom using bananas
I attended Catholic school in the 1980s. We had sex ed classes in 7th and 8th grade, and in high school human sexuality was covered in both biology and health classes. Throughout my 12 years in Catholic school, we were taught evolution as a scientific principle, and creationism as a religious construct. Additionally, our religion classes taught us not only about Catholicism, but also other major religions, i.e., Jewish, Islamic, Buddhist, etc. I mention the additional information only for those who think that religious education excludes a proper scientific education, and that children are forced into a single world view and don't know or realize that there's anything beyond their own religion's teachings.
Thank you for the clarification. We have a Catholic school in the town next over that doesn't have classes that go against the religion, so I assumed they all were the same

And an LGBTQ+ inclusive class at that. Not that it’ll happen anytime soon, but it really should be a thing.
i see lots of public schools have it, i just dont think its been properly taught
Why do people think that fighting racism with racism and sexism with sexism is going to fix it?
THANK YOU. I understand the impulse too, but that doesn't make it okay. If you want to move forward with the (race) issue, quit gratuitously knocking anyone with non-brown skin. It does not make you edgy or woke, it makes you racist. Acknowledge that and evolve how you deal with this complex issue. Unless you WANT to lose people who originally would have stood with you!
Exactly. I have been against racism since primary school. I am even a migrant, unemployed and disabled. But I am sick of hearing how evil whites are, how we all killed and conquered or how we are always privileged. All big civilizations killed and conquered its not about race. And we can definitely be discriminated. Here in belgium some of the most hated migrants are polish and romanian.
Load More Replies...Well, they aren't really thinking. It's the same impulse children have - A hits B, so B hits A back. It takes real emotional maturity to respond with thoughtfulness and understanding, and try to open a dialogue where they can respect each other as humans even if they don't agree.
Sometimes it's useful for highlighting double standards and challenging intrinsic biases; turning examples of racism/sexism around onto the demographic with privilege (usually, but not always, white and cis male) forces them to think about whether or not they'd still defend X Y or Z if it was being applied to them.
First of all, definitive definitions of these two words would go very far in putting an end to both. We can't even agree on that yet and people think they can end them
If you are a trans woman, how did you know that you were really a woman if you don't know what being a biological woman feels like? I'm just curious as there are lots of things about being a biological woman like periods and insane hormones that (in part) define me and the rhythms of my life that trans women as far as I know never get to experience.
It's not really something that's conscious or anything. It's something that's been there since birth. The physical reality of being female is not the same as the mental or emotional reality of being female; the former is obviously not something that people like myself can experience at a true 1:1 level. The latter two, however, are just biochemistry when you get right down to it. And we just happen to have a brain biochemistry that more closely matches females than males. Direct result: we relate to females far more easily than males in spite of our physical form.
Thanks! This was a great 👍 explanation and insight. I identify myself as female and feminine; but I don't enjoy wearing skirts or high heels. And one of the things that baffles me is that usually, on the media, trans people accounts begin with "I've always known I was female, since a young age I enjoyed wearing dresses and having long hair", and to me these traits do not define women. But the point you make about biochemistry makes a whole more sense and it has helped me to understand it just a little bit better. Thank you once again.
Load More Replies...Many to most trans women have similar experiences with hormones, and actually have testosterone levels below the average for cis-women. Some women assigned women at birth go through their entire lives never having a period. Gate-keeping on what makes a "real" woman is harmful to women in the same way that telling men they are not a "real" man unless they (insert trait or behavior here) is harmful to men. Intersectionality elevates the whole group by celebrating common ground. As far as the pre-transition decision OP alluded to, you don't need to know your size off hand to know the shoes you're currently wearing don't fit and are giving you blisters.
Woman is not a feeling. We are a biological reality. Males who wish to call themselves trans women are welcome to--people should get to define their own realities, for themselves. But those who have been born female can only ever call themselves women. And it's fine. Let's celebrate our differences, instead of tearing each other apart for them.
I've learned that the brain activity of a trans person is much closer to how they identify than their agab.
To me it feels like this, when i look in the mirror i see someone else, i never think that my reflection is how i look, i feel like i look completly different like how a feminine women would look, to the point that im shocked to see my refelection and my body, because i imagine it to be a AFAB body
I'm not a trans woman I was born a woman but I am gender fluid and I thought about it and I prefer he/they I don't like she very much but it's whatever and I told my parents and they were like "alright" and then I told them that I have changed my name to Kai
Many biological women don't have periods, and once you hit menopause you'll still feel like a woman. But the key is that you look at other women and identify with them. In conversation with other women, you understand them. Think of it like having an inside joke that you and all women understand; if you get the joke, you're a woman.
Not trolling, genuinely interested as this is outside my experience and it has puzzled me. Most people on here have given me insightful answers that have helped my understanding.

Yeah, of course! I'm LGBTQ and I still wonder if I'm wrong! Stuff changes and what matters is that we grow! As long as you don't think this as the "it's just a phase" mindset, I get it :)
There have been laws passed preventing gender reassignment surgery in teens for this very reason. People do change course. Outside of gender (job, lifestyle, religion, etc.) people may feel out of place, feel an affinity for another direction, then later find it wasn't quite the right direction for them.
Frankly, sexual reassignment therapies on a still growing and developing body concern me. Especially hormonal therapies. Even birth control pills for a physically immature hetero female can have adverse long term side effects, including mental and emotional. Any major life changing physical change should only be undertaken when the individual is fully mature, physically as well as emotionally/mentally, with therapy to help deal with and adapt to changes/ difficulties in the meantime. I am speaking from personal experience with hormonal birth control therapy, which aggravated my already severe depression and took years to recover from, and I was in my mid-20s. There are usually "more than one way to skin a cat," and find a balance that can be lived with. Hormonal and other more permanent therapies in a young teen should only be last resort and for the mental/emotional health of the child.
Load More Replies...Yeah obviously :) it takes awhile to figure yourself out, and maybe you never really do but that's oki, as long as you're comfortable with your identity

Absolutely. Many discover later in life that they are bi
Load More Replies...In my case, yes. I first came out as pansexual, then genderfluid, then gay and nonbinary. It's a huge journey, and my parents don't think I am who I am because I have come out so many times.
I know two people who though they were gay in their late teens and 20s, but later on went back to being straight.
It's still not a choice though. Whatever your sexuality is you're born that way.
Load More Replies...Absolutely. Every single one of my LGBTQ+ friends (including me) have questioned our sexuality/gender multiple times. I have gone from identifying as straight to bisexual to pansexual to panromantic to biromantic to lesbian, and from cisgender to genderfluid to nonbinary to bigender to demiboy. It takes time and experimentation to figure out what labels you are comfortable using, and being wrong about what label you think fits you happens a lot

Peer pressure to have the next best thing and being raised like that. Sometimes it takes the rug being pulled out from under you to wake up. I remember living in an 8 bedroom home with a three car garage. Everyone had their own snowmobile, we had a slide going on the second story wrap around porch. We were loaded. Fast forward 15 years and a huge change later and we are rolling quarters for a loaf of bread. Talk about a wakeup call. I value money for the fact that it puts food in my kids' bellies and a roof over their head but I don't value it so much that I won't pay the extra needed amount for a customer in front of me. I don't feel that I would have this mentality if that rug wasn't pulled out from under me.
I agree. Which is why one of the statements I've made is that every politician, before taking office, should live in poverty for a year getting the same pay and the same benefits as the poorest people of this nation. If they can't hack it, then they have no business running the country.

Why 'man'? There is more than 1 orientation, you know. If you are trying to say 'humans' then say humans. Casual sexism smh
This exists outside of humans. Animals kill each other in competition, typically involving mates and territory. Just be aware that as even a lower or middle class person in a developed country, there are people in the world who could look at YOU and ask the same question. Maybe they don't have shoes and wonder why you need 3-4+ pairs. We're raised to participate in a race, and you don't stop and look behind you when you're in a race.
That;s how Capitalism works. It warps our values. Most of us buy things because we want them regardless if we know that those who make them suffer. Christmas, a season of good will toward man, is marked primarily by buying ridiculous amounts of stuff and the stress this causes rather than service toward each other and family time.
this is a question i've been asking to myself too. why people buy things such yachts while there's so much poverty on earth. i even asked this on a yachts forum once. sadly none could give me a satisfying answer. it seems that most just don't realize they're doing something provokating. like Terille Bruyere said i think they just don't realize. it's a kind of habit
Am am fully vaccinated and over 65. If an unvaccinated person contracts COVID, causes me to suffer a breakthrough infection, and I die, is that involuntary manslaughter?
Yeah but the vaccine had nothing to do with it. That would be like saying that "there was a seat belt around someone when they died in a car crash and whoever made the seatbelt was charged with involuntary manslaughter" like that's just stupid
Load More Replies...I think it comes down to intention in the US anyway. If someone deliberately infected you, then yeah I think it could be criminally prosecuted.
Legally, no. It's just really cruddy luck. You can't prove which person you have gotten the virus from the same way you can prove what car hit what person that caused their death.
NO! Especially since the questions should also read, I am fully vaccinated and if I pass it on the un-vaxed, is that involuntary manslaughter. The vaccinated are still carriers of the virus and can pass it to others. All it does or is suppose to do, is not make the symptoms as life threatening
Ok lets go. Is cereal a soup? Is a hotdog a sandwich? Does a straw have one hole or two? Does pizza have to have toppings (including cheese) to be considered pizza?
A tall bagel......that a new one haha
Load More Replies...Soup is a liquid type food with a meat or vegetable stock whereas cereal is considered a grain food. Loosely defined, a hot is a sandwich as it consists of a split roll with something in the middle. Tomato sauce can be considered a topping. Not all pizza has cheese. A 'pizza' without any toppings is a flatbread.
You have quickly become my favourite person here: comprehensive but to the point, educational without sounding like a lecture. And actually answered the questions without going into a diatribe! Congrats 👏!!!
Load More Replies...A hotdog is a taco because it has bread/grain on three consecutive sides. A sandwich has bread/grain on two opposite sides.
A taco....I now truly understand everything
Load More Replies...A straw has one hole. A hotdog is not a sandwich. And pizza, in my opinion, has to have at least cheese and sauce to be considered a pizza. Idk about cereal
1. No. 2. Culturally, no. A sandwich and a roll are two different things, I would call it a roll. According to the Food Technology Institute, yes. A sandwich is a filling between bread. 3. One. 3. The requirements for it to be considered a Pizza are 'leavened wheat-based dough (flattened) to be topped with tomatoes, cheese and any additional ingredients'.
Cereal is stew. I have worked hard to defend this claim for many years now. The difference between soup and stew is the amount of liquid. In soup, the ingredients are completely submerged in liquid, in stew, they are just barely covered. By this logic, unless you completely drown your cereal like a psychopath, cereal is a stew. Hotdogs have the bun on either side of it, so they are technically sandwiches. Straws have one hole, like Dee on bikes said, its like a really tall bagel, no one questions whether bagels have one or two holes. Pizza must have some sort of sauce and cheese to be considered pizza imo but i get it if you cant eat cheese or something, thats the only exception.
Cereal isn't a soup, more like a stew. a hotdog is a submarine sandwich, a straw has one hole, and a pizza has to have at least one topping.
how long we are going to continue tolerating that our goverments take our hard earnings in orther to make them richer and richer meanwhile we get poor? do we really need them?
In most countries you play an active part in deciding who governs your country. If you think that your government doesn't do a good job, you might consider voting for a party that won't let you down so much.
have to agree with malenchki here - even though he was wrongly down-voted.... many countries have multiple parties, but only certain (generally 2) have a realistic chance of governing - and those two are both bad. That's definitely what we have in Aus..... both major parties are horrendous.
Load More Replies...The problem is that government is too big. Too intrusive. And you have people in D.C. who haven't worked real jobs in decades, if ever. Not trying to be too political, but, Biden hasn't worked a real job since 1972. How can he empathize? Same with so many politicians. That's the point of the 10th Amendment. Anything not specifically delated to the federal government is reserved for the States and the people. That keeps government closer to The People. We should be focused on the doings of the elected in our cities and states, not D.C. That's the short version. Then we get into the 17th Amendment, why Senators should be put in office by the state general assemblies, and more.
How long? Too long I would think. Longer still if people refuse to see the whole picture. Do we really need them? Probably, but not for that. We need taxes for things like schools, roads, even city parks. Taxes aren't from the tax faery, they are from the government (in a sense).
USA may not be a good example given where the majority of the taxes go to, but for most western countries (and even USA) they are a good thing. If you want roads, hospitals, schools, firefighters and a host of other things, you need taxes. Also studies have shown that countries that pay higher taxes tend to be happier.
Taxes used for the betterment of the country and citizens is what it is suppose to be for, Now, it is given out to greedy corporations, other countries so we can have influence, and the politicians themselves take money that will directly/indirectly make them rich. Why do people vote democrat when they know their taxes will go up?
If you think that it's *government* getting richer at your expense, then you've succumbed to the propaganda of those who are *really* profiting. Name some of the richest people you can. How many of them are in government?
Why do people assume that you have to care for/about your family? Even if they're not jerks towards you specifically, you can still be conscious that they aren't nice people and that they hurt others, so you just want to stay away from them.
It was drilled into their heads. Respect your elders and blood is thicker than water is something most people hear growing up.
Because family may be all some people have. I'm all my Mom has, and someone had to look out for her. Extremely toxic relationship and then we found out a few years ago that she is paranoid schizophrenic. I was in my mid-40s, she in her 60s. I finally got to meet my real Mom. We have a very close relationship, she sincerely apologized for being so toxic. She was totally unaware until meds and a fantastic psychiatrist. I would have missed out on this if I had cut her out of my life. Set boundaries, be safe, but don't shut the door entirely. Leaving that opening may someday bring the greatest reward
I'm sorry to hear that and I truly hope that your mom is not all you have. While you're probably at peace with her and yourself, the ordeal she inflicted on you was due to a disease. Being a jerk is not always a medical condition. My grandma was in awe of her son (my dad), but despised everyone else, including her husband and daughter, and I believe she only started to accept me as her grandchild a couple years before she passed away. I didn't mourn her nor attend the funeral.

Forgiveness and tolerance towards the closest people you will ever know.
What is a valid reason as to why people want to have biological kids? Like why would people want to bring another human being into a crappy world knowing you’ll have to work your ass off to provide for and raise (or hire a nanny to do it for you). Why would anyone want to voluntarily put themselves in a situation of sleepless nights and constant worry? Genuinely asking as no one I have asked before has been able to give me an valid answer. (I’ve meet so many parents that wished they’ve never had kids, but they do love their kids to death and wouldn’t have it any other way, but if they could choose again, they would not have them. Or others that say “it’s totally worth it!” And are completely broke, tired and stressed. But why is it worth it? Others straight up tell me “don’t have kids.” They’re a lot of work.) Thanks!!!
I am adopted and will never understand the need and desire that a woman wants to have with her own bio kid. Adoption is great! I don't understand why people only want bio kids. (I am not trying to put anyone down, I am just speaking from my experience as an adopted person myself.)
I honestly think that parents who would only have biological kids are going to be bad parents. If you cry because "you cant have kids" but dont even consider adopting "because its not the same" you are just doing it for your ego and not for your kid.
Load More Replies...I don't want to be a biological mother either... admittedly, the idea of physically birthing and raising a kid kind of grosses me out a bit. Also, I'm admittedly a bit vain and don't honestly know a lot of other 35 year olds in the kind of shape I'm in... and I've personally met absolutely none who are biological mothers and still look decent in a bikini. I'm also a bit of a germaphobe, and kids are disgusting non-hygienic people with no concept of personal space. Also, why is it people push the idea of not buying dogs from breeders and encourage the notion of adopting one of many dogs without homes.... but act like the same notion is ridiculous when it comes to human children? Plenty of kids without homes or food or shelter, yet people just keep popping them out and acting like they're not contributing to overpopulation. Personally, I'm a fan of dogs... their kind of like kids, but not quite as restraining on the lifestyle... and they are way cuter!
I don't understand this either. I mostly don't understand why people would even go through pregnancy/birth for that.
I also don't get it. I don't think I've ever wanted kids, my greatest fear in life has been getting pregnant, and I'm happy in my life without any. Being an *older* female, ppl assume I must be so sad or lacking something or something is wrong with me....but I think the same of them lol!!!
Yes! I have the same legit question. I totally don't get it and nothing anything has ever said has logically answered that question yet.
For me its even worse when the parents have hereditary diseases. I speak to a lot of women with endometriosis and many of them obsees over havibg an biological kid. Despite how endometriosis is ruining their lives and making them misserable. But they risk their daughters or grandaughters to be as ill just for their selfishness. I had a very ill woman admititng that she has veen all her life in agony and at the same time defending having a kid because "life is suffering anyway". Thats just child abuse.
I think for some, it's the outdated idea that you aren't a "real" man/woman until you impregnate a woman/give birth to a child. For others, it's the only way they can see that they have a chance at any sort of immortality. For this second group, I'd be inclined to paraphrase one of my favorite authors when one of his characters asserted that "My genetic shortcomings are the LEAST important things I could pass on to a child" (Spider Robinson). I imagine that for much of the world, kids are seen as insurance policies for old-age care.
Many men have children to prove their penises work - in other words, pure vanity.
Why do the left, and right argue? We're both getting f****d, I believe the system is inherently wrong if we are all are out here believing there are only 2 sides. I think it is a means to keep us arguing with eachother, so we don't stand up do something about it. Now mind you I understand when people argue just to argue the point their side is trying to make, or this undying loyalty to a civil servant. That is worth taking notice of. Though in the end I believe most of us can find more than a few reasons to dislike our own side of the aisle. We all just have the shitty decision of which side is the lesser of 2 evils so our "freedom to choose" is not wasted. I just wanna know when the general population is going to come to this understanding so we can put the blame where it belongs.
Because side A has been watching and reading and hearing stories about how side B is ruining everything. It's clear that side B must be either corrected or defeated. They are the enemy. Once they're gone, everything will function properly. Never give up the fight, side A! We're so close, if not for that damn side B (who by the way is responsible for all the bad things that happen to you).
This is what causes all this polarization: we each see the other side as the worst enemy. This happened in Rome, at the fall of their republic. The Gracchi brothers started an irreversible trend of using violence, or, rather tolerating violence, done for political means.
Load More Replies...You are coming from the US viewpoint where there are only 2 parties that actually matter. Such a bipartisan system already undermines the fundamental basis of a democracy since each time one party wins and another loses. The fundamental need to reach a compromise to be able to rule te country is lost. Zooming out to countries with multiple parties across the spectrum; the continuous argument between more left and more right winged parties is what keeps a modern democracy on track. It prevents a country from swinging too far to either side of the spectrum. Circling back to the US, ever since the US became a 2 party system, these arguments have backfired due to the absence of any middle ground politicians. Both the left and the right are continuously becoming more radical since finding middle ground is no longer necessary in a biparty system.
They argue because they're too stupid and self-absorbed to compromise. Both sides need to do whatever they can to make life better for their fellow humans, but instead they bicker like school children. Nowadays, announcing your political stance is like telling people which religion you belong to, and sometimes it leads to arguments, sometimes it leads to physical altercations, and sometimes a raging lunatic will go on a shooting rampage, wounding and killing many people.
People are emboldened thinking their opinion matters because they have the backing of their peers on social media confirming they are right even when they are not

Yes Adriaan I am speking of America, which has now been rented in 2. All it took was 1 hateful man, to bring us to our knees. Once we where able to just keep our views to ourselves, and accept everyone for who THEY are, and not what they have been told to believe about "their party." Once not so long ago we could just keep that part of our lives separated, but now everyone feels the need to scream as loud as they can for which side they have drawn. People WANT others to know, and I don't understand it.
The USA has been rendered into two from social media where all you need is a critical number of people who agree with you to make it a viable social construct. Why do you think Flat Earthers are what they are? Too many people can now get together and put forth an insane idea that gains ground. Why are kids eating Tide Pods and other such dangerous actions? We did not have this problem before social media

What would any woman think if they were part of of a conversation with you and one of your buddies, and you mentioned to him that your wife does dishes, makes dinner, mows the lawn, takes out trash, washes cars, etc...and your buddy said "I see you've got her trained."...? Why is that acceptable for one woman to say to another woman about her husband? I'm not her trained monkey, a-hole.
I think because statistically woman are still doing a disproportionately large amount of the domestic tasks, even when both are working full time. Women who find themselves stuck with a manchild are angry about it. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/12/us/the-household-work-men-and-women-do-and-why.html
I'm not sure where this came from but I have never said that about my husband and he would never say that about me. But if I would be condescending he would not like it but wouldn't make a big stink about it either.
i've actually had a friend of my wife say that to my wife when she mentioned i clean and cook as well. hate that double standard bulllshit.

I never say that about my husband... but to be fair, he's kind of impossible to train... 17 years and he STILL his leaves his bottles wherever he happened to be when he finished them! Maybe the comment has something to do with stereotypical roles though? The roles in our relationship are the exact opposite of "traditional" gender roles. He does all the cooking, dishes, and grocery shopping. I do the bills, all the home repairs /renovation, and deal with everything that requires assembly, patience, or mechanical aptitude. I've replaced flooring, trim, plumbing pipes, toilet seals, electrical fixtures, etc. Hell, I've even used a 50ft drain snake on a clogged sewer pipe that led away from the kitchen sink; it worked like a charm... but - UGH - it sure wasn't fun pulling those 50 ft back out 😖! One of my husband's friends once joked that he had me "trained"... he told him, "nope, she just likes to do it and won't even let me touch anything [project related]."
Sweetly reply "And here I thought it 's because he is a real man who really loves me. What about your husband?"
Jake, Im gonna go ahead and call bullshit on this nonsense of yours: "... you usually can't beat your man with muscle or with money or with power, so you use your feminine wiles to control your man...". Ha! Some of us (i.e. myself) happen to be better educated and make more money than our husband... there's no "feminine wiles" about it. He may be a little physically stronger, but if he ever thought that was a means of "control" he wouldnt ever want to fall asleep. I, for one, am fed up with these types of inaccurate "women are the lesser / weaker sex" insults... though they usually only come from losers who need to prop up their own insecurities.

I especially wonder about the statutory rape laws. I've heard of more than one instance where the under-age individual's parent pressing charges just after the "rapist's" 18th birthday. One married couple in my neighborhood have been living for years with the husband on the sex offender registry because of the Statutory rape of his current wife. They married as soon as she was legally able to without her parent's consent.
Why do people still believe in God/religion?
Because they do, and as long as they don't force it on others o use it to control others, people can believe in whatever religion they bloody heck like.
This. Leave others alone and don't shove it down others throats.

Why do people still believe that love exists, since we know that it's just a combination of changes in brain chemistry, hormones, and force of habit?
I'm not a religious person, but I don't personally mind what other people believe... except for the people who still insist that the earth is flat or that earth only came into existence 6000 years ago... those particular ideas are clearly idiotic and a person would have to (A) go really far out of their way to ignore the facts or (B) stuff their head real far in the sand, if they were to believe such nonsense over strong scientific evidence / data. While I do understand the purpose that religion brings to the lives of its believers, I personally believe religion was developed by man to create order amongst humans coexisting in communities and more or less formed the foundation for societal behavior / control. However, there has also been a fair share of killing in the name of religion. And a lot of judgemental religious people. Honestly, I would say I live a much more moral life than many who claim to be of faith... because I appreciate and seek the good in all people.
I was agnostic before I became Christian. I became Christian after 2 years very careful Bible study. I studied with the objective of finding out if it was a book I could trust, understanding its seeming contradictions and if it truly was nut-jobby out there when it came to scientific matters. All my questions were answered logically, in a way that made sense. I decided then that if I could trust the book , then maybe I could trust the one who inspired it. I believe in Jehovah God because I choose to, because I have proven to myself that that belief is logical and makes sense. Not because some snake-oil salesmen calling himself Christian sold me a line, which I saw my mother do way too often-hence the aforementioned agnosticism.

Load More Replies...If people mellow with age, why did I go from being gregarious and fun in my twenties, to being unsocial and despising most of humanity?
Most people do not mellow with age. People mellow in terms of admitting their faults, admitting their less-than-amazing impact upon the world, but those are internal thoughts. Externally, older folks, I'm afraid, can readily become like you feel you are. Older folks are less tolerant, less interested in youthful endeavors. And then, for men, we have much less testosterone in our bodies, which slows us down and makes us look more "mellow".
We're less interested in youthful endeavors... and it also doesn't help that between advertising trends and the contemptuous attitude you often get from younger people, you get to feeling shoved off to the side. Fortunately, some of us relish becoming more invisible-- we can get away with more! Lol.

Being mellow doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with the second part. Mellow is temperament.
You do mellow with age. I no longer care what other people think about me, no longer care about the superficial cesspool that is society. I live my life, interact with people that are healthy down to Earth human beings, and most of society are not those things.

Why do schools teach pretty much useless information you will never use for the remainder for your life? Why don’t they teach you real-world stuff, like how to get a job, how to not go bankrupt, how to be successful in your life?
Absolutely. Teenagers in my country waste time learning chemistry, memorizing poems or doing square roots (all useless in rela life except for a very few careers) while they dont learn tolerance, human health and reproduction, to give good presentations or many other skills that do matter later in life.
According to one of my teachers, all you learn in high school is essentially useless but gives you a choice of learning those things later in life. I strongly support having real-world classes as well!
Schools do not teach useless information as nothing is useless. When you are young you do not know what you will do when older. So learn it all to give enough education to keep your future options better.
In general, I believe education needs an overhaul. But lifeskills like that are meant to be taught by the parents. Parents have a duty to educate their kids. Sending their kids to school is only one part of the education that parents should provide. If the parent thinks the kid learns all they need to know at school, the parent is being neglectful.
My parents friend says its so they know that you can learn. What u learn doesn't matter as much as the fact you could learn it.
Aside from the last one, which has different answers depending on the individual, we were taught in school. Had weekly classes from 11-16 that covered job applications, banking, balancing a budget, how to vote, basic politics. Was called Citizenship, required class for the entirety of secondary school. I honestly thought all schools had similar classes under different names. The only thing I can guess at for a lack of such a class is budget?
It doesnt seem to even exist in countries like spain or belgium for example. In any school not the poor ones.

Fruitcake if it's make with real fruit and not that candied crappola they call fruit. Toilet paper...the rule should be........Beards (Front) = Good............Mullets (Behind) = Bad
1) Opinion, doesn't matter 2) For hygienic reasons, FRONT. You want the free-flapping side of the toilet paper to be swaying in open air, NOT swaying against the part of the bathroom wall which is close to the ground and near the toilet and (let's be honest) is rarely if ever being cleaned. Aside from that, having the end of the roll on the outside makes it a few inches closer to you. Besides an easier reach, if it falls behind the roll you may have to thumb the roll a bit to expose it.
1. YAY!!!! Especially as my wife doesn't like it do I get to eat the whole thing! 2. IN FRONT. To do it otherwise will incur the wrath all evils in the world!
Honestly I dont know why people make such a big deal about the TP. It doesnt matter

Why does society condone the suffering of animals?
Because they are self centered aholes who think they are there for our use and abuse. Then of course there is the anything for a buck mentality, or the fake benefits humanity garbage.
lack of empathy, or disconnection from empathy. Also, there's a book that asks called "Why do we love dogs, eat pigs, and wear cows"

Depends on the society but for the most part those who cause the “suffering” don’t necessarily consider the suffering offensive. Of one dog bites another dog, the suffering dog cares, the other one may be gloating.
What colour is a mirror? I say silver because of the mirror paint, but it is not technically that because glass is not a colour.
Actually, if you have two mirrors facing each other so that they reflect each other, as you look farther into the repeated reflections, the image will become tinted slightly greenish. Therefore, mirrors are green.
I like that you carried out the experiment but the conclusion was sadly incorrect. The green comes from the edge of the glass and not the mirror itself.
Load More Replies...Given up looking in mirrors, got tired of hearing 'Snow White this and Snow White that'.
Mirrors are silver. The old process of making a mirror was called 'silvering', a layer of silver was used to coat one side of a piece of glass. Later aluminium was also used. Today, most mirrors are made from heated aluminium, vacuum formed to glass or plastic. The Green suggested by @memyselfandI below is a result of the way the glass is cut, oxidizing the iron content at the edges and refracting through the glass panel.
Why do so many men think they're entitled to women? Why are there so many men who when a woman doesn't want to talk to them, doesn't react positively to being catcalled or harassed or sent unsolicited d**k pics, says no to a date/sex/whatever, respond with violence or abuse? It's 2021 and there's still no shortage of guys who are surprised and angry that women are allowed to say no to them??
I'm not asking about the men who don't do it, I'm asking about the men who do, because regardless of the number of decent men out there, these kinds of guys are EVERYWHERE.
Reminds me of Hal from Megamind. Just because he's the 'nerd' and possibly a victim of bullying does not entitle him to the girl. Same in real life. Just because you're not a jock does not mean that women are morally required to like you.
It's said that you say, "It's 2021 and there's still no shortage of guys who are surprised and angry that women are allowed to say no to them??" Because this is getting worse. It's not as if this were a problem in the past. Women were allowed to say no in the US (unless you were of African descent :-( ) This is a thing getting worse, so why point out it's 2021 as if you expected some problem to have been solved by now and it isn't. It was not a problem and now it is.

I don't feel offended by a person saying they felt attacked or whatnot because if anyone would know their feelings it would be the person feeling them.
I believe she was treated in a racist manner. Her skin tone doesn’t make it less believable. Racism is like French fries (only not tasty or great): anyone who loves French fries understands the next person who says they love French fries. It doesn’t have to be explained in painstaking detail. When someone says they experienced racism, other people who experienced it understand.
I can't answer your specific question, but have a couple of corrections: "Afroamerican" is not a thing. "Of color" is racist.

There are people who deal with real racism, of all colors, but, they aren't rich and famous.
How many times are things going to be labeled racist, when in all actuality it is because the person is not nice. Especially in this day and age when the word racism is so subjective
UK perspective here - the turning point was not her race but perceived hypocrisy. She would talk about the planet, but then take private jets everywhere. This already confirmed what many suspected, that she was a whinging liberal woke American Cali type, which Brits generally aren't too keen on and take delight in mocking anyway. For older people, American divorcees already have form for disrupting the monarchy, and also she didn't seem to understand the institution she'd married into, started moaning about it, and with a bit of a sense of disbelief we felt she really should have done a bit of research. So apart from a few tabloids, who take apart anyone and everyone famous, it wasn't so much her race but her nationality and her US glitterati methods of doing things plus a healthy dose of hypocrisy that turned the tide so quickly. Which is a real shame as if she'd had bided her time and really understood how things worked, she and Harry could have been an immense power for good.

From a biological standpoint, to procreate (not the act but to pass on one's genes). That is true amongst all species. If you're meaning spiritually, that is completely up to each person.

How does one come out? It all just seems like something that happens suddenly. What if I want to walk into it and not jump? Why do parents have a second kid to make the first one happy? As the older kid I can say the happiness only lasts until the 2nd one is old enough to fight. Why are the lockers at my school so tiny? I mean they are 4 inches wide, how do we fit things IN the locker. When we use the lockers at my school for lunch and they don’t fit, why do we have to turn to crappy food? I mean, the only good food is chicken there.
1) Coming out is extremely personal and there is no "right way" to do it. If you feel more comfortable doing it slowly then you have every right. The first time I came out it was to a very close family member who I trusted, not the whole world. 2) This is not often the case. Most parents have more children because they genuinely want to expand their family. For those couples who do have children to make an older child happy (I can't talk because I don't have children) but it's possible they feel responsible for making sure the child has someone who they can be close with and that they have a constant friend. A sibling is usually the perfect fit. It's true siblings do fight but having companions that will stick with you through your entire life is important. 3) Spacing. Most school have to may students to handle so in order to be able to fit enough lockers for everyone they have to make them tiny. If they were any bigger there wouldn't be enough space for the number of lockers needed.
4) Funding. Public schools are rarely given enough funding to provide real, organic food for the children so they do the best they can. That doesn't mean the food is good, but it is affordable.
Load More Replies...Coming out seems like a jump because you don't see the weeks, months, and years that the person has gone through privately agonizing about the decision. You also wouldn't see if they did tell a few people, or one at a time, that kept their secret. Most of what the public at large sees is when someone is outed by gossip, or when they've had enough personal support to their revelation that they feel comfortable making a big deal about it. Sure, there are some who just obliterate the closet all at once, but I'd think they are few and far between. How you come out is personal and it can be however you want it to be. You could just casually say one day that you think that guy or girl is cute. Or that you're questioning, or not really attracted to anyone. Find an LGBTQ+ group that can help you navigate what you want. Also, question 2: LOL! Literally!
there isnt a right or wrong way to come out, as long as it gets the message across. as for it happening suddenly, you can do it over time if you find out how, i like to give clues until the person just kind of realizes. you also don't need to come out at all if you don't want to. For the second kid: The happiness ends until they learn the fight, but then as they grow up and become teenagers they become way cooler to hang out with. I have no idea about the lockers my schools like that to i would like to know aswell. I don't understand that last question
The lockers are being used as storage for lunchboxes and other nonacademic materials. If someone’s lunchbox is more than 4 inches wide it won’t fit in the locker. Normal people would let students carry around their lunches. Guess what? My school made up some crazy rule that you cannot do that. At least 12 people have served detention over this in a 10 day period. So people starve bc the school won’t give us more than 5 apple slices and a pizza slice. Of course, don’t tell Gideon Welles School I said that. 🤐
Load More Replies...About coming out, this shouldn't even be an issue any more. If you need to come out, just stand proud and smile at anyone who mocks you for it. It will never be someone's choice to be gay, etc. so it is not an issue to anyone who is worth anything.
I’ve never had to come out, but I suggest slowly hinting at it towards those you trust until you’re ready to come out. That way it might be a bit less of a shock. For number 2, parents think they’ll have someone to hang out with I guess. Number 3, my lockers at my school suck too I’m going to guess poor planning and/or funding. For the last one, most cafeteria food sucks and it might be that some of the kitchen staff just doesn’t care to be there. Not always the case, but it’s usually why food is bad. That and bad ingredients/recipes.
The cafeteria food was just a shock bc at my elementary school, they cared! They made excellent food. Middle school sucks.

And why does he give horrible diseases to children and nice people? Why he allows rape or torture to happen? If he exists he is a jerk and deserves no followers
And it was questions like these that make me a former believer.
Because he wants to give us the ability to choose. All of the horrible people in this world wil get what they deserve. Don't lose hope.
Because people have the right to make their own decisions and mess up.
The second God started enforcing, with actual real-time punishment, all the things you say are bad, or even His own commandments, you would be amongst the first to decry Him.
What about diseases or natural disasters? For example my uncle was a kind and hardworking man who worked really hard to fight for democracy in his teenager years (risking jail and torture) and as an adult to solve the economical crisis in our city. He died of a heart attack 6 months before meeting his first grandkid.

Unlike all of Europe at one time or another, we have never been occupied by a foreign power. I lived in Germany for 10+ years and loved it there. There is a collective memory in Europe, everywhere I have been at least, of cooperation, conciliation and tolerance, since, at one time or another, every state has been occupied, at peace and an occupier of others. People know war and prefer peace.
First it was freedom of religion, then it was freedom to work, live, then it was freedom to become wealthy or have enough to take care of oneself enough, then it was greed, then it was WW2 where we were to only country to not be destroyed and allowed to continue to prosper, then it was the cold war where the US helped (good or bad) most countries, then it was big business infiltrating every country to make more money. We have the right to abortions, the rest is about greed
Not in Texas. You were late to WWII, free healthcare has nothing to do with greed. Or free education either.

If we could modify and merge a bunch of different techniques we could have an actually decent society where school wasn't so mentally destructive, everyone had at least a living wage, and millionaires had limits on what they could spend and had to give some to everyone who needs it.
There's a disconnect between capitalist economies and the U.S. economy. We call ourselves capitalist in the same way that we call Pluto a planet. It's something we used to do, but it's not true anymore, and honestly never really has been. The very fact that you say that work has nothing to do with reward is directly antithetical to capitalism. We are not capitalist and never have been.
The near-sighted kleptocracy that is the American economy isn't really capitalism. Think more along the lines of privateers or even pirates. The original basic capitalism has allowed the economic growth of the world. The person who works smarter or harder, but lacks the personal finances to fully develop their ideas can also get others to buy in for a share of the profit. The decline started with stock markets. When shares are publicly traded, the original group starts losing control. The stock traders are now influencing the direction of the company rather than the founders. Shares are no longer an investment in the original ideas or team, but tokens to be sold to the next sucker at a mark-up. Even a well managed company can fall prey to what I call "stock piracy", where the vulture capitalists gain control and appoint a managements team that will trade the long term viability for next quarter gains, where they can flip after a pump and dump. IE BOEING

Never. I am sick of people generalising whites and pretending that everybody else is an inocent saint. All big civilizations are based on conquest, violence and discrimination. Its not a matter of race, its that humans are horrible. Look at the bantu tribes masacrating the san and stealing their lands.
I often wonder about the ‘origin’ of this. What initially innocent idea grew some seriously hateful legs and ran full force into our present day. My THEORY (which is based on my staring into space and thinking) revolves around the idea that humans work best in relatively small groups. Smaller groups means there is a natural ‘firewall’ between other groups (think early man dealing with viral outbreaks etc.) . In our small groups we also pick up some instinctual knowledge of what ‘healthy’ looks like. Maybe taller means better fed? Good teeth, general complexion etc. may all fundamentally be linked to how one might have ‘measured’ what a healthy person looked like relative to your small group. People who deviated from this might have spelled bad news for your tribe. In a world pre healthcare you kinda needed to be safe than sorry. Fast forward a few thousand years, and some folklore’y embellishments like blue eyes get added and BOOM! People are carrying tiki torches reciting Mein Kampf
Omg!!! The second sentence seriously had me dying! No, but - seriously - not a bad theory. Now if only there were a way to knock the superiority out of whatever remaining morons continue to hold onto it.
Load More Replies...As an anthropologist, the straight forward answer to this is that white people evolved in a more competitive environment with more limited resources. Tribalism and territoriality are fit traits, and therefore were integrated into the psychology and culture of "white" people. Why white? Because our whiteness comes from the same ice aged environment that shaped us. Colder and harsher. It drove innovation in many directions, not all good. Now, don't take this as being immutable or bearing any inherent value, it's just an explanatory mechanism as to how we culturally evolved into things like colonialism. Deep in their hearts, all people, regardless of color or culture, are assholes.
That last sentence really got me! Genuinely laughed out loud! You can probably trace the assholery all the ways back to when thefirst homo erectus man met the first neanderthal guy..

people don't like people who are different. doesn't matter how they are different. in modern times, however, multiple people hated people who looked pretty different from them so they banded together to persecute these people, adn because the differences are in physical appearance, it was easy for them to see who's different from them.
All people think their group/community is better than all others. Look at the divide between the US culture and the EU culture. Lot less skin color in that division.
Thin skin? Well Europe was the leading continent for 2000 years. They traveled far and wide to other lands, and discovered cultures that they deemed savage, unrefined, as being conquerable. Each European country competing with each other to get valuable materials from foreign lands that they conquered to stay in control of those materials.
Clearly people like you, who spread it . Absolute rubbish . What is it you’re after .
Probably when ancient Rome took over. And/or when Christians took over. To begin with, I don't think it was that they were white, it was just that they were powerful and ambitious. Then eventually it just became 'well, we've managed to build this giant empire, so we're obviously doing something right, and look at that, we're white, that must be it.'
Add to that the need to worship someone else's god or be punished and you have conflict, hatred, and domination

I'm not saying it should be easy or a quick decision but if your life isn't going to get better or is only going to get worse that should be a choice you can take. I don't know the exact answer for those with children, but I also wonder if a kid being brought up with a suicidal parent is good for them anyway. Case by case I guess. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
This is right - to an extent. I believe that before anyone is allowed to commit su!c!de they should be obliged to talk to their family and friends. Sometimes knowing how much you're going to be missed can turn your entire life around. It's the only thing that stopped me many times.
I'll not leave it on that dark note because I HAVE truly found hope... And help. Over the past 7 year researchers have looked into the benefits of psychedelic assisted therapy for everything from PTSD, to treatment resistant depression and guess what...? IT WORKS I started ketamine therapy last week have only had 3 of my 6 sessions and I feel a good 65% better. What it does is it clears old neural pathways that have been blocked by trauma, depression ect. and helps your mind to create new more constructive pathways. I thank God everyday that I have finally found something that is so immediately helpful. If anyone wishes to know more watch The Mind Explained on Netflix they have an episode on psychedelics.
This strikes a nerve. Overcame despair and plans to end my life when I was younger. Totally got to the other side of that over some years and a lot of WORK. Flash forward to today. I now have an incurable disease that will shut down all of my systems. I'm watching the ppl that love me watch me deteriorate and questioning if it's better to spare them watching this inevitable, painful demise... Or do I give it all I have til the end and let them suffer knowing that I'll never get better. Anyway, sorry to share so much but this is real. Overcame mental health torture to now face physical hell. It's life, right?! I'm either crying or laughing... There's no making sense of anything anymore.
I know these things because I live with deep mental illness, Some of them I live with are painful in a way that cannot be truly described because there are no words for it, I just call it "soul pain, and soul tired". I don't want to die, but I also know that I cannot live like this anymore. I have tried pretty much any kind of therapy up to and including ECT (electroshock therapy ( the science has gotten better, it's safer than movies make it out to be)) I have tried LITERALLY hundreds of diffrent combinations of medication, and I have been put through the wringer of the American mental health system, which I have found to be jaded and stagnant with old ideas and beliefs. The doctors look at you and say "This will help because I say it will." I tell them it doesn't and what I think might help because I have been trying so long and in so many diffrent ways, and they tell me I don't know what I am talking about. I have felt SO MANY deaths to the hop that this new therapy, this pill, this meditation, this coping skill will work... And it doesn't I still stay stagnant in my soul pain. I live for the people around me now, and it makes me resentful. Living with someone who feels like I do cannot be easy. I see the toll toll it takes on my mate having to watch me suffer,. He wants to understand but he cannot because there is no way to understand the depths of this kind of pain unless you have felt it (which is a lonely island of it's own)...
I understand this question deep in my soul. I have often spoken out very loudly about the fact that some mental health issues can be described as unbearable suffering. Some countries (not naming names) take this to heart and you can apply for legal euthanasia, just like people with painful terminal illness. It is for when all else fails, and it is not a decision that is taken lightly. First you apply, then they review you over and over again for a year to make sure things are not changing, and by the end of that year if both you an the interviewer feel that is what is best then you are approved. It is not something talked about often. (1/2)
I talked with my friend about this the other day. She was talking about a "real life superhero" video she saw where someone saved someone from committing suicide and i was very confused because, as it might seem heroic to some, it probably wasn't very heroic to the person trying to kill themselves. She was arguing that the person would be thankful for it one day, and while that might be true, it could just make it worse. Trying to commit suicide is a big thing, chances are their family/friends will hear about it and have something to say which could make everything worse. Everyone thinking of committing should be able to know how much people care about them before they do commit, but in the end i do agree that it's THEIR choice.
Do god really exist? Or we just made the heaven and hell thing just to comfort our feelings. Like if you die younger or die struggling and the promise that everything just gonna be fine never comes, they will just said "oh atleast he is not suffering in heaven" or we just want to believe that there's more punishment than death to sll the person commiting these crimes
This so something much deeper and more powerful than can be answered on a bored panda thread. Personally, I believe in God and I hope that you can find that belief too but it is up to you.
If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent Him. - Voltaire
This is something that has been bothering me for a while now. why the blacks aren't proud of the word negro. why that world is synonym of insult, when it should be a source of pride. I hope i won't offend anyone. but for me there's no more beautiful word than the word negro
As a black person myself, I don't like people who are not black saying the n-word or negro. Yes, we are reclaiming it, but it is not "beautiful." It is a reminder of slavery, abuse, rape, and degratory names my ancestors were called. I myself use the n-word sometimes because I am reclaiming it, but please DON'T call it beautiful.
"negro" is not the n-word, but other than that, I have no comment and am reading this with open mind.

But sometimes, black people are not all African American. Some people may be from Haiti and other non-African places, which means that African American is not always correct.

Many blacks have told me that they hate other words like "person of colour" and just want to be called black.

Are thumbs considered fingers? Are cucumbers and tomatoes fruits or vegetables?
Asking "How many fingers do you have?" Answers the first question. Second, AND, not OR. They are fruits, which are used as vegetables
I was taught: if it has seeds, it's a fruit. All thumbs are fingers, but not all fingers are thumbs.
Thumbs are not fingers, but I'm not bothered when people say they have 10 fingers. Both cucumbers and tomatoes are technically fruit
thumbs have one less joint than fingers. Hence, they should be considered toes. /s but seriously, they have one less joint. they're not fingers.

People who want to get married/believe in marriage: Why so many years dating to see if the person is “the one?” What things need to be found out that can’t simply be asked? I mean people who date for 2+ years and still remain uncertain.
People "act" a certain way for a long time, and only reveal their true selves with time. I was fooled by my ex into thinking he valued strong women with their own opinions...he told me this verbally even. Turned out not to be true after we got married. Me asking him wouldn't have mattered, because he lied. It's kind of like the way most racists will deny it if asked...
I think it is really good for couples to live together for a long time before marriage. I only dated my wife of 20+ years 10 times (spread out over 9 months, since I was in the Navy) before we got engaged and quickly married. There were huge challenges we had to overcome once married. It was hard and still is sometimes. But we stuck with it. If someone is willing to give 2 or 3 years of their lives to someone else, that in itself is a huge committment, and can mean good things for the couple moving forward. Do you think if you had spent more before time with your Ex before marriage, you would have found out some things that would have caused you to not wed?
Load More Replies...There are stages to dating, many of which are biological reactions our bodies produce. The feeling of overwhelming love/lust/obsession many feel during the first chunk of a relationship, the "honeymoon" phase, is an excess of dopamine, oxytocin and other neurotransmitters being released. Chemically speaking love is similar to being drugged. You don't want to make a major life decision under the influence, it can be hard to see the other person's flaws, you see them through rose colored glasses. The honeymoon phase wears off in about a year. But even then it can take a while to build trust and truly know who you are together. So you can ask questions, but can you really trust the answers. I dated a guy for 2 years and then we moved in together, found found that he was a terrible person to live with. Sure he was fun to go on casual dates with, but he did not make a good partner.
“ You don't want to make a major life decision under the influence.” Facts. Finding a life partner should be based on reason and reality. Strange how the “honeymoon phase” happens first, with literally no concrete reason to be in love. Perhaps people are afraid of scaring the person they’re interested in away by being point blank in the beginning, rather than being dewy eyed.
Load More Replies...Maybe there is no such a thing as "the one". Studies have shown that arranged marriages have the same chance at success as marriages for love. I married a woman because I really likes her, not wild romantic lust-love (which HAS hit me!) Twenty-two years later we're still a happy couple.
Many of this studies do not take into account that people who had an arranged marriage live in cultures that are very traditional and sexist where the concept of equality in a marriage or divorce does not exist. My grandma (not arranged marriage) was treated like a servant by my grandfather and forced to becone a housewife. But she would have never complained about him "because thats what women are supposed to do". She doesnt even believe about divorcing if he cheats on you .

Why don't we base eligibility for male/female sports on the presence of XX or XY chromosomes?
Because the findings from such a determination might contradict how someone FEELS, and that. Is. Verboten!!
Adding to that, not everyone is just XX or XY so if that was going to decide what category a person competes in there would need to be a few other categories added to the events.
Load More Replies...XY doesn't, but that's NOT the only variation.

Load More Replies...All other animals are classified as different species within the same genus, based on measurable biological differences and variations in appearance. Why aren't humans?
Humans are... homo sapiens is our species... and homo sapiens sapiens is our subspecies (common name in paleoarcheology is "anatomically modern human").
Because the concept of species is an artificial construct that biologists use to classify animals. There isn't a real line between one species of the other, they gradually change but they dont suddenly become the next one. In the case of humans there is only one species alive Homo sapiens but there used to be many others. Sapiens have been always very conected genetically so we didnt isolated enough to create subspecies.
Because many people don't even accept that we are animals. Many species hybridize in nature and are only species because of geographic separation so the definition of Species as a pool that cannot interbreed and create fertile offspring falls apart. Species, breed, race,. All terms to denote biological differences and used differently more due to politics and a belief in superiority
We can acknowledge differences without promoting superiority of one over the other, can't we?
Load More Replies...Because as a species we can reproduce regardless with each other. Biological differences are not superficial differences, but genetic differences enough that there is no reproducing between two species
That is not entirely true, and there are examples among primates. https://www.forbes.com/sites/michaelmarshalleurope/2018/08/28/a-long-busted-myth-its-not-true-that-animals-belonging-to-different-species-can-never-interbreed/?sh=48580f653e65
Load More Replies...That is a political question. If humans were to be divided into sub-species just like wolves are, there would be several human sub-species. However, this would cause societal violence.
Not really. Humans are extrenely close genetically because we traveled a lot and never became isolated long enough to create subspecies.

Why does Hollywood and the western media industry hold on to the current trend of making movies for virtue signaling? Viewer numbers are low, people stop listening to "The Message" and overall it seem like a big failure on every regard
Virtue signalling is sitting on your tushie in your nice safe house shouting about how good a person you are and promoting your values as virtues; but not actually getting off your hiney, going out into the world, and actually physically doing something to help those in need.

When the media industry creates preachy content and attacking "bad groups" instead of producing entertainment. A popular theme seems to be to take an established franchise and simply swap out the gender, skin colour or sexuality of characters, which isn't only boring but also insulting to the represented groups (handing out leftovers). I mean, does a heroine looks better if she's surrounded by weak, braindead men (Agent Carter; TV series) or if she's able to overcome weaknesses and growths on the problems along the journey (Lt. Warren; Z Nation) ? The problem is that the writers and producers can't get the thing done right and just create stuff that alienates viewers and make the people deaf to what they want to say.
Load More Replies...Because it's easy, and cheaper rather than writing good movies that entertain. Perhaps one day they'll get a clue.
It is a failure, but the virtue signalers refuse to acknowledge this fact. They also fear cancel culture for why so many continue to abide by this small minority
If Jimmy cracked corn and nobody cared, why did he do it?
"Jimmy Crack Corn" or "Blue Tail Fly" is an American song which first became popular during the rise of blackface minstrelsy in the 1840s through performances by the Virginia Minstrels. It regained currency as a folk song in the 1940s at the beginning of the American folk music revival and has since become a popular children's song. Over the years, several variants have appeared. Most versions include some idiomatic African American English, although General American versions now predominate. The basic narrative remains intact. On the surface, the song is a black slave's lament over his white master's death in a horseriding accident. The song, however, is also interpreted as having a subtext of celebration about that death and of the slave's having contributed to it through deliberate negligence or even deniable action.
If you tripped over and put your hand out to break your fall and that hand splats in a freshly laid poop, would you rather it be dog poop or human poop?
Dog, because there is a less likely chance that any bacteria/virus it may contain is transmittable to humans.
That's a rather nasty question but I'm going to answer seriously. I'd rather splat in dog doo as many parasites are species specific and human feces could be more dangerous to my health.

Becaus God didnt create cancer and rape and murder. Two major things happened- Satan fell from Heaven because he rebelled against God. I agree Christians do a bad job at explaining this with tired platitudes, but it really sounds like you want God to be who you want Him to be and you want the world to be as you want it and thats just not the way it is. God designed the world for good. He designed it with free will. One of his angels rebelled and perpetuates evil and here we are. That's it. God has a redeeming plan and as much as it sucks we just have to wait until He decideds its time to blow this joint.

Load More Replies...Why do (so many) white people refuse to even entertain the possibility or even research the fact that white priviledge is in fact a real thing? Why get so offended and deny the real experiences of others rather than saying "hmm I dont believe that but let me find out more why so many ppl are saying this. Maybe theres something I can learn. Maybe Ill go talk to some black ppl. Maybe Im wrong. Let me view a different perspective."????
