You didn't do anything wrong, not at all, but people vote with their feelings and it will be based on their feeling about the book and not your view on it. Though when I thought about it a little more, I wondered if maybe some downvoted because they didn't feel the book suited the intention of the OP which was to garner book recommendations. A lot see it as a duty, rather than a pleasure. In school we were all told to choose a book to read and then give feedback and people laughed when one girl chose the bible. It is always going to be controversial, you need to accept that. We live in a world where some will believe and some will see it as a harmful fiction, and that isn't unreasonable. Religion has caused a great deal of harm, even when we accept that for many it does good. Good on you defending your choice but it isn't a surprising reaction.

of this inventory of written word (53 as of this posting), this book has had the largest impact on human history. fascinating that while a different book might tell you have to live or think or be, this is the one that will cause the greatest strife among those on either side. too often the Bible is discounted by many due to actions perpetrated by those calling themselves Christians who are behaving in such a way that is contrary to Jesus' teachings or God's words. st. augustine said, "never judge a philosophy by its abuse."

Something important is missing. The Discworld series by Terry Pratchett. A true work of genius! I've reread them 10 times at least each one, in English, and I'm Italian. Unfortunately, we lost Him too early! R.I.P. Terry. A man is not dead while his name is still spoken. Speak his name.

People who are woke are aware of social and specifically racial injustice, it shouldn't be used in a pejorative manner. I too thoroughly enjoyed the book. However, while we accept it is an excellent book and one written in and of a time we must also reflect on what that might mean for people experiencing racism today. OK I NEED HELP. I read a really awesome book a few years ago but then I forgot the name of it. It was about like this boy, and he got a dog, and they befriended a girl who had cancer. I think the boy was an orphan in a foster care system I think? It was a really really good book and I loved it and want to read it again but idk what it’s called. If anyone knows if you could tell me I would really appreciate it :) EDIT: THE DOGS NAME WAS FLIP
