Woman Is Sexually Assaulted On Street, But Attacker Doesn’t Realize What Is Hiding Beneath Her Innocent Look
238Kviews
26-year-old power-lifter and strength trainer Leanna Carr is from Colorado, and was visiting Dublin, Ireland, last week. Unfortunately, her experience there was not entirely positive. On April 21st, she uploaded a picture of her swollen knuckles on Twitter, caused by punching a man who sexually assaulted her on the street.
“While walking down the street in Dublin earlier this week, a man grabbed my butt,” she wrote. “He proceeded to laugh hysterically and said ‘you’re an American, you probably liked it’. Apparently traveling solo has made me a better person bc my first reaction was to punch him in the face.”
At first glance, Leanna looks like any other beautiful and sweet girl who, of course, attracts the attention of men. However, that is no reason to violate someone’s personal space with such behavior, and the guy who did so got the response he deserved. For many women, sexual harassment is a painfully uncomfortable topic which makes you feel confused and violated, and that leads to just keeping everything to yourself. Not in Carr’s case, though. “I am never a violent person, and I have never punched anyone before… but I became so angry and had so much adrenaline that my reaction was to punch him. I got him on the cheekbone, hard,” she told The Irish Independent. She admits that if the attack had happened in a not so public place, she wouldn’t have had quite the confidence to react this way. But since it happened in daytime, and on a busy street, Carr realized that she must teach the man a lesson.
After the adrenaline had gone, she wasn’t so sure about her decision. But her Twitter post has received the full support of both women and men, with over 25k likes. Only a few people weren’t sure if the story was true, since they couldn’t believe someone might experience such thing in Dublin.
“Maybe you haven’t seen it, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen,” Carr says in response. “No matter what country you’re in. Sexual harassment happens every day from complete strangers and most women do not know the correct way to respond.
“In the past, I probably would have felt too shocked and timid to have dealt with the situation. I probably would have just walked away… and that man probably would have continued to prey on innocent women,” admits Leanna. “I never use Twitter and didn’t write the post for attention, but I’m glad it went viral. This is something that is very common and hopefully, it encourages more women to feel comfortable and able to stand up for themselves if it does happen to them.

If a man was ever brave enough(or stupid enough) to grab a strange guy's butt in the street he would fully expect a punch in the face - equal rights
How many very serious assaults ..or worse .. could have been warded of by sharp and hard punch to the face by the victim BEFORE the attacker got chance to overpower her??
"she was capable of defending herself before things got serious - but she didnt" - this person did!! well done girl - being a strong powerlifter and able to defend yourself is pointless if you dont use your skills when it really counts

As a relatively attractive man who has been to Thailand I can confirm that the scenario you conjure certainly does happen. Quite a lot. Did I ever need to punch anyone - a cheap, unsophisticated, primitive expression of self-assertion - in order to put a stop to it? No. I can be self-assertive and civilised. Now, if someone actually attacked me - not just threw a punch but actually threatened my actual safety - then I might consider violence. Until then it is unnecessary. The initiator of violence is the attacker.
What you fail to realize fuggnuggins is that the man here WAS the initiator of violence when he grabbed her butt. He sexually assaulted her and she had every right to fight back. Stop telling women to be more "civilized"
Women were harassed for milleniums, every single day of whole their lives. Now women finally start to react and do same - males can't take it. Primitivism is when women cry rape and are 98% of the victims, but all men care is bout the rest 2% male victims (also raped mostly by men). The way for equal rights is not to cry for something which happens in minor scale from soon, but deal with the big problem which persists like forever.

So, next time a girl hugs me and I don't want it, or touch my arm or chest, or touch my hair, I should punch her. Equal rights. Right?
Getting a hug is the same as a stranger coming up, grabbing your a*s, and telling you you like it? Shut the f**k up.

And for a woman to do this, well she can actually put herself in harms way when there might not have been any danger. If you think you can punch on with a man, by all means go for it. Be ready to also accept any and all consequences that come with it, including legal ramifications.

Excuse me, f****t is not needed here. Please get your straight a*s out of here before you offend anyone else
Sorry KismetTheFox but I have to disagree. You grab someones butt or any part without their permission then you deserve every possible negative word there is. You are basically the scum of the earth if you assault someone.
She's our hero. Also, I hope she washed her hands soon after, since she punched a shitface.
At that moment He knew he had messed up

What if the roles were reversed: A girl grabbed a man's butt and would have been beaten by the man for it?
If the guy feels violated or threatened, he has the right to fend her off.
I think the difference is; Does a guy feel threatened by a woman grabbing his butt? Probably not. Annoyed? Yes. Violated? Maybe. But threatened? Women have every right to defend themselves against guys like this, and this asshat clearly deserved a punch to the face. I truly hope he learned his lesson treat women like human beings and with a basic level of respect.
One punch does not make a beating. Women want equal rights, we want our bodies respected, so a woman doing that runs the same risk. Don't touch other people without permission period.
I've seen plenty of good looking guys in my years, especially after I started using the power chair and am at eye level to butts. I have not ever touched any of those asses with anything but I glance and a grin. No matter how good they look. Why? Because my mama taught me to keep my hands to myself. Obviously guys who grab women (like our Cheeto-in-chief) did not pay attention. Or their mama should have gotten their attention before saying it!
valid point. no, wait : how many chicks have you actually seen go grab a random butt on the street ?
Probably not. He'd probably marry her.
