Woman’s Garlic Peeling Hack Goes Viral And People Regret The Time They Wasted Doing It The Wrong Way
Garlic is a true culinary superstar. A staple in cuisines all over the world, the stinking rose adds a powerful punch to your favorite dishes, while at the same time providing a whole host of powerful health benefits. Could you imagine a guacamole or pasta sauce without it? Sure, it can leave you a little on the pungent side, which some people will notice more than others, but who cares? Crush those bad boys up and get your stink on!
However, there is a catch. Peeling the individual cloves from the bulb is a major pain in the butt! It’s not difficult or especially time-consuming, just fiddly and annoying. Several innovative inventions have sprung up over the years to address this most crucial of issues, with varying degrees of success. But what if we were to tell you that there is a simple and effective method right under our noses, using nothing more than a knife and a little twist?
This genius hack, uploaded as a video by Twitter user Valentina Pestilene, has blown the internet’s collective mind with its infuriatingly obvious (in hindsight) technique. A knife is gently inserted into the bulb, and a single twist is enough to separate and pull the clove out of its skin. “As someone who makes a lot of Korean food, this is the best method for getting garlic peeled!” She wrote in a caption under the video.
Easy, right? Why the hell has nobody thought of this before? Or is it one of those long lost secrets that only wily grandmothers know about? People were quick to test out the method for themselves and the general consensus is that yes, it does work.
It may take a little practice before you are as adept at it as this person is though! Check out the video below to see just how easy they make it look.

People’s reactions, from celebrities to chefs, were united in wonder at the beauty of it all. Expect garlic (plus chewing gum and perfume) sales to spike in the next few weeks as one of the great kitchen dilemmas has finally been solved, and the true potential of this wonderful herb can now be realized!

As well as excitement to try out the genius new hack, people began to lament about all the time wasted using the old, inefficient methods. Think of all the years and fingernails that could’ve been put to better use!

What do you think? What has your method of peeling garlic been so far? Will you give this way a try? Does it really work? Let us know in the comments!
I tried to follow the instructions and now my cat is on the ceiling and microwave is on fire.
I’m now pregnant and there is a toaster size hole through the floor all the way into china, but the garlic is peeled.
Load More Replies...And all that wasted garlic. I usually peel the big cloves around and throw out the rest because it’s such a pain.
Load More Replies...I always put it in a Mason jar and shake it contains the mess and peels it just fine. Shake with a closed lid 30 seconds its done
No knives required I didn't risk slipping and cutting mysle6
Load More Replies...The key though is to use a paring knife or a pocket knife. Something that's strong enough to hook the clove and let you twist it.
Doesn't work on every type of garlic, depends on the ripeness ... or dryness or whatever.
Well, that's it. Mankind now knows everything. There's nothing left worth discovering.
IT DOES NOT WORK. One of 2 things happens, either, the clove breaks up into pieces, OR, the clove comes away from the bulb UNPEALED. Very disappointing!!! I am guessing it only works with certain kinds/sizes of garlic, the freshness just right, a certain knife, and the technique is probably difficult to hone as well. Bloody Bored Panda, getting all our hopes up!!!
Gosh, it worked for everyone I've shared it with. Dozens, no, hundreds of people. Yeah, that's it. Hundreds. All kinds of garlic.

I'm a garlic-aholic, which means I use garlic as some use...well, air. No where's the thing: it isn't nearly as hard to separate and use garlic cloves as most people make it. Tip: place the head on a sturdy cutting board so that the bottom sits on the board. Take a meat hammer, a tenderizer or even a clean hammer and smash the head of garlic - do NOT smash so hard that it becomes muck. When done correctly it will take all of 3 seconds for the cloves to completely separate. If the garlic is truly fresh, the skin will come off easily as the cloves separate. If the head is a bit older, use the same device to lightly hit the individual cloves and the paper skin will immediately separate. You can do many cloves at one time. I can peel and separate about 4 hears of garlic into cloves in about 3 minutes. Works great every time and never takes long or demands anything special. Why people make this so complicated...just puzzling.
Another chef trick is to microwave the build for 10 seconds ish and the little beauties slip out
Or just cut off the part of the clove that has the hard bit on it (after seaparating from bulb) shell comes off almost by itself
There is a lot faster way. Cut the front of the garlic head (the hard part holding all the garlics - doesn't know how u call it in English) and the back. Take a bow and a dish put the garlic in the bow and close it with the dish. NOW SHAKE THAT M*THER F****R and you are done.
I just put unpeeled garlic through a garlic press. Only the garlicky goodness comes out. I never use sliced garlic or garlic prepared another way. I used to just smoosh the garlic under the broad, flat side of a knife blade and then the inside comes apart from the skin as well.

"they hacked into the bank's computer" Just like with "misgendering" and with your and you're; stop it. Use words correctly.
Dang, I could have put even more garlic in my pasta sauce had I known about this easy way to peel it.
This works. I tried it last night. It takes a little practice to figure out the right angle, but once you got it, it's a real time-saver.
Surely it's easier and quicker to put the cloves in some sort of receptacle and shake them around, rather than individually picking out the cloves?
And just in time for dinner! I'm making a quickie pasta sauce. Thanks, Bored Panda!
This doesn't work with most garlic, only certain Chinese garlic.
