If it makes your sleepless nights any easier, know that you aren't alone. According to CDC data, more than a third of American adults are not getting enough of good sleep on a regular basis. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the Sleep Research Society recommend that adults aged 18–60 years should get at least 7 hours of quality sleep each night to promote optimal health and well-being.

Sleeping less than 7 hours per day can lead to an increased risk of developing chronic conditions such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and frequent mental distress.

"As a nation, we are not getting enough sleep," said Wayne Giles, M.D., director of CDC’s Division of Population Health. "Lifestyle changes such as going to bed at the same time each night; rising at the same time each morning; and turning off or removing televisions, computers, mobile devices from the bedroom can help people get the sleep hygiene they need."

Yes sometimes I wake up an hour before my alarm and go to sleep and I kind of half sleep and feel suspicious about how long I'm able to do that because it feels much longer than an hour

2 minutes I can manage, worst for me is when it's a stupid amount like 27 minutes. Then the debate starts if I get up or "try my best" to fall back to sleep.

OMG! When this happens I usually try to set my alarm 15 min. later than the original time... (note the word 'try'). What actually happens; I cancel my alarm, fall back asleep, wake up 3 hours later and feel happily surprised about 'how good' 15 minutes extra sleep time can make me feel!

I get up at 7:10am and woke up recently at 4am. I was super happy to realise I had another 3 hours 10 minutes to sleep. I love those moments
