We hope you are ready for some silly comics that this artist creates heavily inspired by her daily life.
Salma, the creator of Shiki's Stupid Comics, is a millennial from Tunisia who is "obsessed with an anime character named Shiki." Due to her obsession, Salma shared that her friends started calling her Shiki, and soon this character became Salma's alter ego.
Salma's comics touch on various topics ranging from funny and heartfelt to sadder ones that include dealing with mental health issues. Without further ado, we invite you to dive into the whimsical world of Shiki.

Load More Replies...Okay, I legit hate this. People who don't believe mental health problems are a thing bother me. I hate it when teachers expect my friend with severe social anxiety to give presentations like anyone else. It's like telling a kid in a wheelchair to run a mile. It's not right, fair, insulting, and impossible. Why can't we just be more understanding of the unseen struggles?
i have a friend with pretty bad separation anxiety and when he had a breakdown cuz a teacher that nobody likes separated our entire friend group, the teacher told him to deal with it and stop crying, i hate that teacher with a burning passion
Load More Replies...And this is why we have mental health issues. It's too hard to speak up.
"I have a learning disability" "have you tried just ignoring it and being normal because we dont have it and we're all normal, see?"
to anybody struggling with your mental health, idiots like these ARE THE PROBLEM. you ARE valued and you are NOT insane for believing so. your mental health conditions ARE NOT all in your head, and the first step of healing is acknowledging them so you can get help--even if help is just talking to a stranger on the internet. these people are wrong: you're amazing and there's nothing they can do about it. Have a lovely day!
Aah yes. That one can be a good scapegoat to everything wrong with a person. "you're too fat to be healthy", crying shame that. Next up, eating disorders for social acceptance.

Bored Panda reached out to Salma, who told us more about her background: “I never studied art, in fact I graduated as a software engineer. But I ditched my engineering degree for the art path, and that's one of the best decisions I've ever made.”
Salma also explained what drew her to the world of cartooning.
“Since I was a kid, I loved drawing and crafting. But making comics started as doodling caricatures for my friends in high school. They made them laugh and that made me happy.
They did get me in trouble sometimes, I got suspended for one week for drawing my high school teachers. But no regrets,” shared Salma.
My mother says the exact same things as purple-hair :( And that suicidal people "just want attention", and "depression isn't real", etc.
Load More Replies...im really sorry that he thinks that way--but remember that we on boredpanda love and support you. you're amazing and your emotions matter! have a lovely day x

The Electricity Company Operator to me when my new SMART meter stopped working and then we had a power cut during the night - "Calm down will you?"... I was having a panic attack. I couldn't breathe. I took Propanalol to help but I'd fallen over, hurt my leg, which for a disabled person is bad because of the possibility of infection which is very serious, and my phone was running out of battery power. I actually vomited while on the phone to them.... Just please don't ever say "Calm Down" to someone who is having a panic attack. Please help us breathe, remind us gently that - 'it's okay, you'll be okay' in a gentle slow soothing voice, ask us how we're feeling, and once it's under control? Then help us with what is going on.... That's only for me though probably. I dunno.
There's a "cat" in deli"cat"e for a reason. Good luck ever pronouncing it normally again.
'Deli cat' just sounds all kinds of wrong though.

In order to get a better understanding of the essence of Salma’s comics, she shared the repeating themes.“My comics are inspired from my daily life, my friends and family and my mental health.
I love to draw silly situations that happened to me or to my friends, deep stories about my past experiences and mental health awareness,” wrote Salma.
I have to do this with the gynecologist to get birth control so I don't have periods. Would rather that than have 24 periods in a year, major cramps that could sometimes even reach down into my knees and calves, bloating that made me feel like a weather balloon, and, worst of all, needing to deal with everyone else being an a*****e because I had less of a filter to their reactions at me because I was dealing with so much b******t. Yeah, I'll take no libido and a bit of extra weight so I can actually have a f*****g life.
Open up they said. LOLOLOLOL I'm a Russian nesting doll of defensive humor this isn't even my final form.
valve once said that. But, yes, this is a more accurate description.

I just can't keep from doing this myself... literally have to pull out every article of clothing I own before I end up wearing the 1st thing I pulled out to begin with! 🙄
Next, we were curious about Salma’s creative process and how she comes up with ideas for comics. The artist shared: “I could be doing house chores, working or in bed when a comic idea hits me. I immediately doodle it in my sketchbook and later, draw it on my tablet. The ideas are really random, it could be something that happened to me that day, a conversation I had with someone or a past memory that I remembered.”
Moreover, Salma shared what she hopes for people to take away from her comics: “What brings me satisfaction and happiness about making my comics is when someone tells me that it made their day or that it helped them in some way. I would hope that a comic would put a smile on someone's face, or even if it makes them cry, it would be in a peaceful and kind way.
I also hope people would be more aware of mental health and more understanding of it.”
im the one in the green shirt--I have no sense of direction and terrible memory 🥲
When I was a kid, calling someone a "nerd" or "geek" was a horrific insult XD
I mean I get the sentiment but do we really have to lean into the 'I'm not like other girls' trope. Plenty of teen girls like anime and video games.
Calling all the smart people nerds and geeks only worked as insults until we got together. Nerd power!
And lastly, Salma added: “Growing up with crafty hands, everyone was reminding me that art in Tunisia won't get me anywhere. So I pursued a path that I didn't like and that never fulfilled me. Taking the decision to switch to the art path wasn't easy, the road was bumpy and full of mental breakdowns. But it was worth it. And I'm happy I'm here.”
THE MONKEYS WERE WRONG! THE BLOONS HAVE FEELINGS! well... If they're sentient, they should show self preservation some more thought Anyone being destroyed by my unaware inaction needs to be much less fragile around my person Maybe I'm too prickly to be out in public... Dangit... Balloon made me feel like a public danger... Again!
Totally get you. It's a Wonderful Life is absolutely terrifying as a 6 year old. When George goes running through the neighborhood because he wished he'd never been born, really gets one thinking. That's exactly where my anxiety burst into the scene with all of the elegance and tact of blocky Mettaton from Undertale. I had no clue what the f**k was going on. Never went away since. (Oddly enough, classics like The Exorcist, Amityville Horror, and Nightmare on Elm Street never actually bothered me after the movie.)
Load More Replies...Uh.. it wasn't the movies. More like closer to home. Actually, in the home.
Hmm, not sure this holds up. Horror movies give us a way to experience fears in a safe and controlled way. It's part of the reason they're popular.
I watched movies I liked. I still watch movies I like. My anxiety has come from life not being as kind as those movies (somehow, movies about supernatural murder-creatures ended up being more hopeful than my own health situation... Because they can be defeated by nature. My heath can't)
More or less the opposite. People like media that reflects what they have went through. Some people relax by consuming dark media because that's what they are used to.
My therapist once asked me - "How can you watch horror films?"... Me - "Because I know they're not real and in a weird way they help me. What I've been through is bad but at least I'm not being hunted by a huge hoard of Zombies"
Yes! Haha! My bf once drove past me when I was uuhhm.... yelling along to some metal music in my car and he called me afterwards asking why I'd looked so darn angry while driving. Lol. You cannot sing angry songs about k1lling people and look happy. Lol. (I do believe I was yelling along to "So you Die" by Bloodbath. 🤘😁)
I sometimes imagine myself explaining that no officer it wasn't road rage, I was just singing along to Flash Gordon "bring back his body!"
Load More Replies...my cats would probably do this... and they'd look cuter than I do too!
Men don't see as many colours as women. I read somewhere that it was developed when humans were hunter/gatherers. More women gathered plants and berries etc and it was more useful for them to identify what was safe to eat and what wasn't.
Except that's not really true. Randall Munroe of XKCD ran a survey: https://blog.xkcd.com/2010/05/03/color-survey-results/. Basically, women saw slightly more colors, but it was, overall, pretty even. And as for why? Well, according to the Independent, women probably hunted just as frequently as men: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/archaeology/women-hunted-often-prehistory-men-b2451528.html. And also https://theconversation.com/forget-man-the-hunter-physiological-and-archaeological-evidence-rewrites-assumptions-about-a-gendered-division-of-labor-in-prehistoric-times-214347, which in fact suggests women may have been better suited for it! Besides, animals *also* use mimicry and are poisonous; shouldn't men have needed to just as much? (It is true that colorblindness is more common in males, though, because it's passed through the X chromosome, which women have two of and men have one of; if one of the chromosomes is defective, women still see normally but men don't.)

There's no need for medicine for a common cold. Tea, soup, blanket, two to three days of rest. (Yes, I'm German)
Actually, too many antibiotics makes the bacteria later on for s**t like pneumonia totally impervious to it too. Building up a natural immunity is the best thing for common colds and small flus.
Load More Replies...Poor girl. It is hard to accept that there is no medication for a cold.
At least the doctor doidn't laugh at shiki for wanting medication for a common cold. Lol. I'm Danish, so sorta almost German I suppose? And I would also just say: stay warm, have a LOT of fluids and go to bed. (Btw a recent Danish study showed that if you keep your nose and your feet warm you are way less likely to catch a cold. So for all my fellow pandas: make sure to keep your noses and feet warm in the Winter. It actually helped me a lot this Winter!)
A common cold lasts 2 weeks. Medicine reduces that to 14 days...
Why the downvotes, this is true. The only thing medication can do it make you feel less rubbish

Load More Replies...No no... you don't *have* to start shaving. If it bothers you then just don't. If ppl complain then ask them why they are looking at your legs in the first place. Visible hairs on legs are not dangerous or bad. It will be Summer even if you do not shave. And if you don't shave and still don't like to show off your hairs then put on some loose, thin pants. Such items are out there. :)
I HAVE! to shave. That's it. I don't like being haory or looking like some furry animal.

OMG, IT'S SO DEEP! People want money more than life. I see this every day at work, why is it more interesting when the money is higher and the effect is instant?
Why not just say "this isn't my thing"? People really lost the ability to be able to tell setting boundaries apart from being rude, didn't they
