“You’re Not Fooling Anyone:” Cop Reveals 8 Tricks People Use To Avoid Getting A Ticket, And They’re Hilarious
David Castro has been in law enforcement since 2010, serving the last 5 years as a police officer. Along with being a K9 handler, he’s the public relations officer at the Cache Police Department in Comanche, County Oklahoma. During his time in the force, David has learned a lot of things. Among the many useful abilities, Castro has acquired an eye for the ridiculous methods that drivers use to trick officers into believing they’re wearing a seatbelt when they’re not. Recently, David has created a hilarious photo series to remind them that they’re not fooling anyone.
“I believe laughter is the best universal language and can be used to mend the divide that we have these days between the police and those we serve,” Castro told Bored Panda. “My goal is to help everyone realize that we aren’t just emotionless robots with a badge. We’re people, we care and no matter what your opinion of police may be, we will always come to protect and serve.”
“I strongly enforce the seatbelt laws just as I do every other law,” the officer added. “I feel it’s a simple 2-second method that could save your life. Those that say seatbelts shouldn’t be a law because it’s their life are just being selfish because the loss of a life affects way more than just the person that passes away.”
“I encourage people to go for ride-alongs with their local police and see first hand some of the accidents that we respond to. Then they’ll understand the importance of clicking it. Also, it’s a good reminder to tell your passengers to wear their seatbelts as well so that everyone makes it home safely.”
Everyone can follow David and his buddy Max on their Facebook page.

With as many bad drivers out there as there are, why would you not wear a seat belt? Heck, some days I consider wearing all the pads and the helmet I have for roller hockey.
If I'm driving and you're under 18, you're wearing a seat belt in my car. If I'm driving and you're directly behind me, you're wearing seat belt in my car (in an accident, without a seat belt the person directly behind you comes flying right into you.) If I'm driving and I love you, you're wearing a seat belt in my car.
Patricia Ross I don't care if you're under 18 or over, if I'm driving the car isn't moving until everyone has their sealbelt on. If you don't like it, you're walking. I'm not gonna live with you being dead when it could've been avoided.
Load More Replies...Wear a seatbelt! I rolled my car and walked away injury-free thanks to mine! Paramedics and the sheriff were all amazed anyone survive much less greeted them with a smile after extracting herself from the car and walking to the nearest house to call it in. As for why people don't, most people I know who don't, don't because they don't like that it's the law, meaning "the government is telling them what to do with their bodies." smh
When I was a kid my father said that seatbelts should be renamed "lifebelts." Maybe if we called them that, more people would use them. Ask any cop, EMT or firefighter, and he or she will have at least one horror story about some dope who wasn't wearing a seatbelt. Oops, I mean lifebelt.
I honestly don't think changing the name will do anything. In Romania the direct translation to English is safety belt - and a of people still aren't using it. And yes, it is required by law to wear it while on public roads. I always wondered why people are clipping it in. When I drive I never feel any inconvenience from it, actually I feel weird when I drive the car without it (like when I'm in a parking lot and have to stretch out the window to get the parking ticket).
Load More Replies...Who in the actual hell doesn't wear their seatbelt these days? I live in San Diego County, California, and even while wearing a seatbelt out on the highway here, you take your life in your own hands. Again who the hell doesn't wear a seatbelt?!
Have to admit was guilty of a few. Until I got into a car accident and hit my head on the windshield doing 60. Left a pretty spiderweb lol
Awesome. More good-humored LEOs like him, less authoritarian bullies!
This is why we can't have nice things... Why are police still pulling people over for SEATBELTS? Aren't there more important things to worry about like, idk, actual crime?
click it or ticket! just do it. one of my good friends witnessed a childhood friend die in front of her because she wasn't wearing a seat belt.
Back in the day, when it first became illegal to not wear a seatbelt, shirts and sweaters were sold that had a printed belt-mark on them, to fool police.
Was in an accident in 1981. I wore my seat belt, the passenger didn't. I walked away he was driven aware in an ambulance. Always wear your seat belt.
If seat belts are mandatory then make cars unable to start without the seatbelt being being put on (not just buckled)
Imagine if you thought it was a cop and you were like TURTLE POSE ACTIVATE and it was just some random person. And they just look at you like ¨ummm are you ok¨ and in your head your just like ¨and THIS is why Im single¨. lol
People dont have to have these acward moments or risk anything if they just PUT THEIR SEAT BELT ON!!
Wearing a seatbelt is a reflex for me. When my brother and I were young my dad wouldn't start the engine before we were buckled up. And now I even "annoy" my friends to put theirs on when I'm with them in a car. And when I'm driving the car doesn't move before everyone has their seatbelt on, I'm not having any avoidable deaths on my conscience.
I was not badly injured in an accident that did not happen when I was 12. Almost 20 years later I still wear a seat-belt. #lessonlearned
I am glad the accident did not happen when you were 12.
Load More Replies...There was only one situation I knew of where not wearing a seatbelt saved a life. My mother was exiting a grocery store parking lot when a speedy driver in an SUV whipped around a van turning into the lot. They T-boned my mother in the driver's side door hitting her with enough force to push her across four lanes of traffic into a ditch. She had to be cut out of the car by the fire department. She ended up with a broken scapula, 3 broken ribs and several broken bones in her foot. She heard the fire fighters say that if she'd been wearing her seatbelt, she would have been held in place instead of being thrown across the passenger seat and that they'd be prepping her for the morgue instead of the hospital ER. But still..wear your seatbelt because I also had two friends that died when their vehicle rolled on a highway sending them both through the front windshield.
Well, everyone who doesn't wear a seat belt will quickly learn a lesson if they crash into anything. Flying through the windshield can not be a very pleasant experience.
And if they don't wear a seatbelt and get into a crash, then the problem will be self correcting as they will either be too injured or too dead to drive anymore...
Load More Replies...I love the animorph! Not just the reference, but also the dog's expression.
I also believe that wearing a seat belt is highly necessary. We always do and if we are taking our dog with us he has a special harness he wears to keep him buckled safely and comfortably in the back. NOTHING is worse than risking your safety and the safety of those around you.
I am 100% for everyone wearing seatbelts - essential safety requirement. However many years ago (before seatbelts became mandatory in the UK) my ex was driving along and someone pulled out - he was travelling fairly fast (but probably within the speed limit) - he swerved and hit a very stout tree. He was thrown to one side in the front of the car which saved his life a the steering wheel column was driven through the back of the drivers seat by the impact. Had he been strapped to the seat he would have been most likely dead
Why downvote - I am simply relating a true story and have seen a photo of the wreck

Driving home, I was singing my ass off with the windows down. I was speeding. Cop pulls me over. Now when the police call me annually asking for donations...I just hang up the phone.
victimless "crimes" should be abolished. wearing a seatbelt is highly uncomfortable for women with large chests. I'm not hurting one other person. stuff it with your stupid ass society rules that ARE JUST FOR MAKING MONEY
Three youngsters in the back seat didn't want to buckle up. I told them the car won't run unless they buckle up. The car knows. Then they buckle up, the car moves. Then one of them decides nope. The car slowed and moved to the shoulder then stopped. We sat there for awhile until all buckles were fastened again. It didn't take too much or them to realize that my car just wouldn't run if the buckles weren't fastened. They were quite young at the time. Took them years to figure out that it was me and not some special feature of my car. My car still has that feature and getting them to buckle up is not a problem. Adults get told about that feature, as well.
What people fail to realise is the these seat belts are designed to fit the average man. Yes they can be altered but I have never found one that can be adjusted to comfortably and safely fit myself, a 5' female of average weight.
what would be nice if they came up with a hack to stop your seat belt sliding off your chest and up around your throat..it's a pain to those of us who are well endowed in the chest area..mind you, l still buckle up and take the chance of being strangled..
I always do it before I even start the car. I don't like the annoying dinging.
We've had seat belt laws for about 40 years in the UK, it's completely automatic. My mum used to work in casualty. She had seen many, many, smashed up faces and broken bodies before the law came in.
Good advice! In related news: I was recently in Arizona where helmets are not required for motorcyclists. I was pleased to see many people (yes, some were women) wearing helmets anyway. I said a little prayer every time I saw some idiot who wasn't. Why on earth would you risk brain damage? Just to feel the wind in your hair? Stand in front of a fan for a while. It doesn't have to be a major accident for you to get knocked off your bike and hit your head. Your brain is your hard drive, it's your memories and your personality. It is the essence of what makes you - YOU. Protect it! And buckle up, too!
My life was saved by wearing my seatbelt. I was going 60 mph when I struck the other car and would have been sent through my windshield if I hadn't. Think about it folks.
When I was a kid in the 80s we would ride in the back of my uncle's pick up truck without a second thought and cops would just tell my dad to be careful. What were we thinking! XD
Proud to be the 200th upvote! There really are some idiots in this world, we need more guys like this! :P
I'll confess, sometimes if I'm driving a couple minutes in the neighborhood from one house to another, I don't bother putting it. It's the only time I don't. I'll also admit, there is a slight feeling of living on the edge for those couple minutes.
This is an excellent way to encourage people to wear a seat belt without nagging or showing the consequences. It's the law to wear one in the UK anyway. My initial reaction to this was that if people are so Stupid as to not wear one then let them kill themselves! But then the pieces of human body sliced by collision with or going through the windscreen have to be picked up by someone.... So just buckle up buttercup and be a grown up 😊
He's very good looking and handsome AF! The cop isn't so bad either! ;-P Truly, thank you to officer Castro and K9 Rex.
There's a rare handful of medical conditions that make it impossible to wear a seatbelt safely - certain insulin pump designs and blood interface ports (a rare procedure where someone has a port installed into a vein on the chest because the veins elsewhere can no longer be safely used). People with such conditions carry exemptions with them though.
BTW, I work as a car salesperson, and have for awhile. I hear all the stories. Which usually involve people surviving with seat belts. I've never had someone come in to buy a totalled car who doesn't use seat belts, if you get my meaning.
why bother telling people to wear seatbelts? let natural selection take its course.
This is one of the most ignorant things I have heard. Natural selection has not acted on humans in thousands of years. The entire function of civilization is to defeat natural selection and enable those who are not the "fittest" to survive. Should no one take medicines and "let natural selection take its course"? Should no one wear eyeglasses?

Same goes for airbags. But in 99.9 % they're gonna protect you from harm. Also eating apples is a healthy thing to do. But still you could choke on them. Which keeps no one from eating apples either.
