For some time, Little Free Libraries have been emerging in Fayetteville, Arkansas and a local jogger named Jessica Mcclard started wondering why they were such a success. “My feeling is little free structures both create space for neighborliness and address social problems,” McClard told Huffpost. This is how she came up with The Little Free Pantry initiative.
When Thrivent Financial funded her for $250, she set up her first free pantry next to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fayetteville. The project became an immediate success. Now it has over 10K fans on FB and has already inspired others to build free pantries in South Fayetteville and Ardmore, Oklahoma.

This is a really great idea, I wish there were more like these conveniences around, besides the conventional to benefit the ones in need
I wish more people would donate EVERYWHERE, not just in this little town. The world needs more towns like Fayetteville! Congrats Arkansas, you've set a great example to follow.
Great idea but will be taken by those who don't need it I am sure. Would help if they were set up somewhere monitored so those who really need it get it.
The problem with monitoring is that those in need may be less inclined to help themselves as many still have pride and don't want others to know their plight.
It doesn't matter, actually, if a person not-so-much-in-need helps him/herself a snack or a water bottle as long as later, she/he puts back something in those pantries. Sure, there will always be one or two disrespectful persons to take advantage of anything, but they just need the majority of people to use it fairly. It will work, because there are FB groups to give away/request things for free and they work too.
Now that its public info, wonder how much before someone backs up with an open trunk and just empties it out daily.
