The human being is an extraordinary creature, and many of us are often left surprised after learning amazing facts about our bodies. For example, did you know our brains have a memory capacity that is equivalent to more than 4 terabytes on a hard drive? Or that the human eye can distinguish 10 million different colors? What’s amazing about human anatomy is the absolute perfection and balance that every one of us carries. Even though you might now like a few things about yourself, there are thousands of cool things your body does that you should be proud of.
Recently, one Twitter user shared an interesting photo of a female muscle system
While most of us have seen how the male muscle system looks, the image of the female anatomy, namely milk ducts, is not so popular. So there’s no surprise that this cool photo quickly went viral receiving over 43 thousand retweets but apart from educating many of us on a woman’s breast anatomy, the image also left many wondering how is it possible that most of us have never seen it before.
People had really mixed emotions about the image, some thought it’s absolutely beautiful
The image sparked a great discussion online whether the musculature image is absolutely beautiful and shows the perfection of a woman’s body or it’s just simply terrifying and quite disturbing.
Others felt disturbed by the image
Despite literally having flower breasts, it is proven that women also are better at recalling things from the past and live longer than men not only because they lead a healthier lifestyle but also because a woman’s body is naturally better at fighting diseases. So even though you might not enjoy the imagery of your milk ducts, there are plenty of other things to be proud of about your body.

Share on FacebookGood point, but I see it shows way more. For centuries we've been basing the human body on males. Thus medical pictures mostly feature males because it has been unfairly considered exclusively erotic to show a naked woman's body (only classical artists could get away with it because, you know the reputation of artists, different creatures). As a result, everything - education, medicine fitness, clothes, grammar etc. has been shaped and adjusted to the male, while the women's bodies and entities were held as an everlasting mystery, or plain shameful. This is why there's so many dangerously ignorant people when it comes to the topic, and regardless of gender too. We need more female and mixed up examples to normalise the beautiful variety of the human race.

First off let me just say that I think this is very interesting and should be shown to women as it is an important part of their anatomy and I believe it is beautiful. With that being said, milk ducts are not part of the female muscular system. Perhaps this is why you've never seen this as part of an image of the female muscular system. In fact there are no muscles in the breast at all. This is very cool but factually incorrect. Should it be shown? Yes. Should it be shown as the female muscular system? No.
Not ENTIRELY true...the areolas are comprised of smooth muscle tissue https://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007/978-3-319-60925-6_7 Also, it doesn't look like that because there is a large proportion of fat in a typical breast. But, this is cool as hell to see.

Those things people describe as looking like flowers—that explains everything! Everybody knows flowers droop a bit as they age.
The most horrific part about this whole article is about the bunch of snowflakes and attention seekers crying about this, we have this book since I was primary school called doctor in the house and it shows and shares everything illnesses and breasts sex the whole thing and my mom exposed us to it because it's natural, that is who we are, every single one of us, are exactly the same inside and out. I'm 32 and does not bother me at all.
@Monika Soffronow A person who has something valid to say doesn't just comment on another person's ability to speak English. This person who said that only wants to make people feel bad about themselves...

Mammary glands (milk ducts) are not shown on diagrams of the muscular system because they're not muscles! You want to see them, look at the endocrine or integumentary system. Because, believe it or not, this has NOTHING to do with some patriarchal conspiracy, and you can find diagrams of milk ducts perfectly fine in any textbook if you bother to look in the right place. Instead of using this opportunity to just educate people on a cool body part, the news articles jumping on this story are instead deliberately lying about anatomy in order to sensationalise it.
Freaking out over how reality looks in a painted medical diagram is ridiculous. Now that you have seen this picture, what has changed? Nothing in your life has changed. The glands look however they look. The glands have not suddenly started growing on the outside of the skin. The breasts look on the outside however they always looked. So you are squeamish? Get over yourself. You do not have to look at these pictures.
Freaking out over how reality is, was, and will continue to be is ridiculous and literally a form of insanity. Now that you have seen this painted diagram, how has anything changed? Milk glands are still milk glands. Breasts still look the same on the outside. Calm down and get real. Another thing: If you had seen this picture in a doctor's office, would your reaction have been the same?
We have our own tiny milk bottles. I love this! Women are amazing!
Honestly the number of women saying "gross" and "I don't want breasts anymore" are idiots and make me weep for the future.its a natural part of our bodies, there's nothing gross about it, it is what it is. If you base your self expectations on something every single female person on the planet has then, for the rest of our benefits, PLEASE don't ever use those glands. Ever. I don't want your special snowflakness to spread.
I agree. It’s not gross, but some people might view it as such. In the meantime, you’re doing a great job of spreading body positivity. Keep it up!

Maybe if it was a picture on a shirt, men would freak out and keep their eyes up!

I can't believe it, but I'm kinda in the 'Blerch!' departement. They really should show this in schools. Might make the boob-obsession of our society go down a bit.
This is actually not true. https://www.sciencealert.com/don-t-freak-out-about-that-viral-milk-duct-image-it-s-not-actually-correct/amp
I don't know why this is disgusting to people! It's beautiful. Ya' know not in that creepy pedophile way...
I suppose women wouldn't know or feel the inclination to know unless you breastfeed. Education system really is to blame though, every diagram is usually the male form.
I don't suppose they have "education" where you'e from...?
Load More Replies...Very interesting. I´ve also wondered and regretted why there are no images of the female anatomy. Even breast screening doesn´t show the glands, only fat, although mine aren´t that big! Good to know what´s inside and the things we touch. Big thank you on my part!
Whaaa...I went to body worlds and never saw this? There was even a pregnant woman there or does this happen after you deliver?
Even women who never get pregnant have the milk glands. In the bodywork displays they only show the musculature and none of the body fat, which is what boobs are. Fat and glands.
Load More Replies...Ok, I'm not so much creeped out by what the photo represents so much as how it was taken. Sorry to be gross, but, I honestly don't know.....is this a corpse with the skin removed? Am I looking at a skinned corpse? Or is there some post-x-ray technology I don't know about that peers beneath the skin in this way?
It's a corpse. I'm pretty sure it's one of those things where they replace all the fluids with plastic for educational purposes. Google bodyworks. It's pretty cool

Kinda depressed as I am now 48 and my "flowers" are now saggy and wilted!!!
I am always fascinated by nature, including the human body. Nature is beautiful, a true work of art. I would love to see what a whale's mammary gland looks like in comparison. I, for one, love the internet and what it has provided to the inquiring mind (though one does have to take care in what one searches for). Thanks! :-)
So apparently it's ok to show full frontal boobs if the skin is taken off? Have to remember this one. Anyone want to post a pic of a penis with the skin taken off?
This is both oddly weirding me out and fascinating me at the same time.
How can you not know this? Even if you didn't pay attention at school ... you friggin FEEL IT. Jeez.
Interesting, though I knew i shouldn’t have eaten my lunch when I saw it
Why? They literally look like flowers with small petals! They are beautiful! So what exactly is so wrong about them?
Load More Replies...Ironic, because every human begins as a female. When we're teeny tiny embryos and our bodies first start forming, only the X chromosome is expressed. The Y chromosome isn't expressed until about week 6. That's also why men have breasts. So by your really bad logic, men are "rip-offs" of women. (But in reality, this conversation is just dumb.)
