I Asked Elderly Couples To Pose For Engagement-Style Photos, And Here Is How True Love Looks
I started off as family photography professional five years ago, but what I noticed was that people only came to get photographs taken with their children and spouses. I never had a client asking me to take photographs of their parents or grandparents or even photos of their children and parents.
So I decided to divide my work time into two parts. I spent one half of my month photographing my clients the way they wanted me to and the other half was dedicated to requesting elderly people like grandparents and great-grandparents (who I would invite via model calls or would randomly approach in public places) to come and be photographed by me with their grandkids.
On one such shoot in Houston, Texas, this year, I noticed that while I was photographing one grandparent with their grandchild, the other grandparent was just standing silently in a corner. So, for the sake of their memories together, I asked both grandparents if I could do a couple's photoshoot... and I haven't stopped doing that now.
Whichever country I visit, I make sure I photograph elderly couples there together and I cannot express how fulfilling these love photos has been for me. The stories I hear of their lives together... and the pure and honest true love that I witness in the course of these shoots is just beyond amazing.
One of the elderlies said to me, "When we were young, we had so much around us to distract us. Expressing love has always seemed to be so rushed... so incomplete. But now that we have only each other, this real love, this companionship is all that matters."

This is what true love and respect looks like. I'm not crying you are.
This is truly beautiful. I just watched the movie, Passengers, in which 2 people are awakened too early on a 110 year space voyage, and they have to learn to love one another. They are young and beautiful. I wanted to see them in love still at age 88, but the movie directors didn't think of that. Why? Old people are still beautiful.
Not only is this picture beautiful, it also is masterful photography
If the flowers were an engagement ring it looks like he is asking her to marry him. In case she says no he has plenty more flowers with which to ask for her hand in marriage.
Oh, I love the composition of this picture! Their arms and legs and attitudes tell the whole story. ♥
These two! The wish of my heart is to have my husband and I look at each other in our later years, the way these gorgeous lovebirds look at each other <3
In my opinion, this pic is my favorite. But to think that someday, these people will d. Di. *Sniffle* I can't say it. I'm not crying you are

You should sell this to stock or Hallmark. "When your dog wishes you the very best." (but really wants a doggie treat, instead!)
I'm not crying I just... waterfalls... stuck in my eyes...

Finally, an honest-looking picture and moment, without a dog and rose. "What did you say, Dear? Oh, we're going to Sizzler tonight for our anniversary." ;-)
There is nothing more honest than a dog, even if it is holding a rose

This one's my fave so far - she's smiling even when he isn't looking!
As someone who is currently going through a divorce, I can say this warms my heart, but also saddens me. My husband and I still love each other, but just as very good friends who share a son. I hope I can find someone to grow old with. My grandparents were married over 60 years and died a week apart last year, and I have some pictures of the two of them together towards the end of their lives that I cherish daily. They were two of my best friends and although Grandpa wasn't for public displays of affection, based on how he doted on my grandma you could see how much he loved her.
Prayers and good vibes your way, DD. I hope you do find that someone, and soon 🙂! Kudos on your positive perspective on a very tough thing, btw.
Load More Replies...there is actually an older man who lives on our street and is always smiling! he smiles when he drives, and he gave my mom a huge smile when he recognized her in the mall! On Halloween, my little sister and I went trick or treating at his house and he came to the door in a cute knit orange sweater and was handing out pre-made bags of candy! He's so cute and he spreads so much positivity and kindness with his smiles! :3
Why do these things make me cry. This is beautiful and quite enchanting for those of us who dream of the happily ever after. Truly remarkable pictures.🥰
As I look at my beloved of nearly 50 years, seeing these couples I wish we can have many more years together!
Take good care of each other and of yourself, then ! :-) Congrats to your longevity so far !
Load More Replies...What a lovely idea! I wish I had photos like this of my own grandparents. I ever only saw my grandfather in a three-piece suit, that was what he considered a man should wear, regardless of if he was reading in his library, or if he was digging up potatoes or chopping firewood. Dignified, kind and loving.
This is my Mom and Dad during their 50th Anniversary trip. Two years ago my Mom had suffered a stroke after rehab my Dad brought her at home and cared for her. Her physician was amazed at the level of care my Dad provided. They had been married 58 years and they were so still so in love and each others best friend. Last week she passed away. My Dad is handling this with his usual grace. He said they did everything they wanted to do in life and then some. I will miss her dearly. Mom-and-Da...c1b487.jpg
I'm incredibly sorry for your and your father's loss. I feel your pain. I lost my mother suddenly two months ago and its the worst hit for me and my father. Sending you tight hugs

Totally agreed, thanks for noting this 🙂! This photog has a great application of modern styles (super shallow DOF, tight photoshopping halos, tasteful oversaturation, excellent GM composition, smoothing)! I’ve been looking to branch out into a new area of photography, but wasnt sure...and this gave me some new inspiration and ideas.
