Dolly Parton praised Beyoncé‘s upcoming album, hinting at a possible cover of her iconic song Jolene, sparking excitement among fans.

The Country legend took to her Instagram page on Wednesday (March 27) to share a story after Beyoncé dropped the tracklist for her new album.

On Wednesday, the 42-year-old songstress shared a poster-style tracklist announcing all 27 song titles from her upcoming Cowboy Carter record, which appeared to include a version of Dolly’s 1973 iconic single, Entertainment Tonight (ET) reported.

The 78-year-old singer not only put her official stamp of approval on Beyoncé’s reprise, but she also took the opportunity to encourage her fans to listen to her original version.

She wrote on social media: “Listen to my original ‘Jolene’ while you wait for Beyonce’s COWBOY CARTER – Dolly P,” alongside a photo of Beyoncé’s newly released tracklist poster, accompanied by her own artwork for Jolene’s original release.

On Queen Bey’s social media, many people expressed their excitement upon learning about her upcoming release, as a person wrote: “Joleneeeeeeee I’m gonna cry!”

Someone else penned: “The legends Dolly P and Bey laaawwwwddddd.”

Another individual chimed in:  “This album is about to …baby she’s bout to cut Jolene UP.”

Alongside Jolene, the official tracklist includes American Requiem, Blackbird, 16 Carriages, Protector, My Rose, Smoke Hour, Texas Hold ‘Em, Bodyguard, Daughter, Spaghetti, Alligator Tears, Smoke Hour II, Just for Fun, I Most Wanted, Levii’s Jeans, Flamenco, The Linda Martell Show, YaYa, Oh Louisiana, Desert Eagle, Riverdance, II Hands II Heaven, Tyrant, Sweet Honey Buckin’, and Amen, as per ET.

Moreover, Dolly was mentioned by name in Beyoncé’s poster, along with country music legends Willie Nelson and Linda Martell.

Whether the musicians will be featured or sampled on Beyoncé’s new album is undisclosed for now.

Dolly had previously teased a potential Jolene cover when she spoke with Knox News in early March, speaking about Beyoncé: “Well, I think she has!

“I think she’s recorded Jolene and I think it’s probably gonna be on her country album, which I’m very excited about that.”

She further stated: “I love her!

“She’s a beautiful girl and a great singer.

“We’ve kind of sent messages back and forth through the years.

“And she and her mother were like fans, and I was always touched that they were fans, and I always thought she was great.”

Beyoncé’s new album, Cowboy Carter, is planned for release on March 29.

Despite the announcement of Beyoncé covering Dolly’s Jolene being met with positive feedback, some people shared a different opinion

10 different artist/groups across many genres (Olivia Newton John, White Stripes, Miley Cyrus) have reached the top 100 with "Jolene" covers. People need to calm down.

Well, Whitney did a great job with "I Will Always Love You" OTOH Beyonce is certainly no Whitney.

If Beyonce's cover is even half as good as the one done by Lil Nas X, it's going to be AMAZING. People cover other artists' songs all the time, so I don't understand why anyone would make a fuss over this - especially since Dolly herself approves it.

I think certain songs just don't work as covers because the new singer doesn't have the voice, or they just *have* to rearrange it or change the style. That said, it's music. As long as she's paying for the right to use the song then it's fair game. If it sounds awful then just don't listen to it. Pretty simple really.

I don't think Beyonce is anything close to a country singer tbh (I feel her voice is made more for big belting ballads and pop) but she may surprise us yet.

Bey is not proclaiming to be a country singer, she is merely singing a country song. Is that hard to comprehend?

Dolly is nobody's fool about getting paid!! She's very proud of how smart she is- and absolutely right. One of her famous wisecracks: "There's always the noise about "a dumb blonde", but I ain't dumb, and I sure ain't blonde, either!" And the "ain't" is purely an act.

All music. ALL music. ALL - you listening? Starts with some scrap of an idea from - some other music and musician. Musicians know this, which is why they are usually delighted to have another musician pick up their work and run with it. That's how music grows. Dolly - is a great artist. She should be a Designated National Treasure. She knows any performance by Beyonce will stand or fall on its own- and can't hurt Dolly's work one bit, If you think your opinion is worth more than Dolly's - aren't you just a wee bit inflated?

I think this is terrible, because as we all know, it's physically impossible for someone other than a country singer to sing "Jolene" properly, and when someone makes a cover song, poof, the original version disappears from existence and you can never listen to it again. /sarcasm

I would say I'm 'cautiously intrigued'. I love most kinds of music, and am a fan of Dolly (both her music and other work). I've not been a fan of most of Beyoncé's work, but think it will be interesting to hear. I love cross genre artists and cross genre covers, but they don't always work out well (looking at you Sheryl Crow's cover of 'sweet child o' mine'). However given who we're talking about, I expect it to be passable at worst and epic at best.

Dolly is graciousness personified. She really is a treasure. And if Beyonce wants to cover a great song, that's her choice. She'll either do it justice or she won't but she knows that as tiny as Dolly's feet are, her footsteps are colossal ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Dolly Parton seems like a really good person but I'd rather shave with a cheese grater than listen to that hillbilly noise.
