Besides all the mermaids, sorcerers, witches and princes, there’s another aspect of Disney princesses’ lives that just doesn’t add up. Loryn Brantz, a staff illustrator at Buzzfeed, noticed that their hair often behaves in strange and unrealistic ways, so she decided to show how they might look if their hair behaved the way ours does.
Brantz has a wonderful way of grounding Disney’s princesses in reality, so check out her work featuring Disney princesses with realistic waistlines as well!

Share on FacebookElsa with dark roots? There are people with natural really blonde hair, the real problem is how the hell her braid stays in place.
What's missing is Rapunzel with her hair full of twigs, leaves and dirt. How does that girl run around without s**t getting caught in there?
Obviously humans don't have the Disney hair-itage. Like we don't have eyes 3 times the normal size. It's part of the Disney magic.
Obviously humans don't share the Disney hair-itage. We don't have eyes 3 times the normal size either.
I personally prefer the image of Elsa with her roots showing, much more image depth as well as realism.
As for Cinderella - this is Ms. Brantz just forgot that Cinderella in the cartoon is sleeping with two small pigtails, which she dismisses when she wakes up in the morning. So Cinderella's realistic hair should not be like Ms. Brantz drew, but wavy.
Cinderella with bedhead is not like the movie, where she was sleeping with two little braids.
I don't really think you can count Rapunzel's hair here, since it was actually explained in the movie, why it doesn't get dirty and twiggy. Now Pocahontas has the most magical hair of all the princesses, I've always thought. LOL
I have had my hair like Jasmine before and it had volume.. also Ariel's hair was being blown by the wind. Why has everyone been hating on Disney princess? Like um they aren't suppose to be realistic, like omg Ariel has a tail how unrealistic -_-
Cute idea. funny how those posting below are all into the details of hair roots and dark eyebrows. Remember, it's an fantasy Disney so ...
cinderella thinks she can do it all but nobody escapes morning hair.nobody escapes.nobody.
cinderella thinks she can do it all NOBODY escapes morning hair nobody
actually, for the ariel one, i think the waves haven't hit her yet and the wind is blowing back her hair
but seeing as she was just in the water, being a mermaid and all, yeah, wet hair haha
Load More Replies...It' s creepy how tons of people ruined a funny and ironic post by arguing about the existence of natural blondes with darker eyebrows.
@sigridneergaard go check wikipedia "The term "Scandinavia" can also include Iceland, the Faroe Islands, and Finland."
I do not know why this is a big deal. Disney princesses are animated!
Yes it is possible to have light blond hair and dark eyebrows. But who cares? These images are really creative, thumbs up (Y) :)
lol you make it seem like every day is a bad hair day for 'real' people..
And we shall call this segment "butthurt blondes" where everyone bitches about how they have light hair AND dark brows.
Nobody is butthurt, just in awe of how ignorant people can be.
Load More Replies...magical princesses from fairy tales don't get realistic hair... because... oh wait... they're from fairy tales..
Why should anyone have nasty thoughts and stop dreaming? Without dreams in this nasty world, noone would survice.
They're FICTIONAL CHARACTERS designed for KIDS. What the heck is wrong with you all? Does this even matter
So talking trees, dragons, dwarfs, handsome princes, genies and other fantasy elements are OK, but unrealistic hair is a problem?
Elsa is Norwegian. Her hair would be a natural blond and not have dark roots. The rest are fabulous :-)
All really really great, except Elsa. She's Norwegian, her roots would be naturally blond! ;-)
Thinking too deeply,I think Ariel's hair is weirdly related to her being a mermaid :| The only time her hair was wet was when she was human.
Disney gave us girls a lot of false hope and expectations :( but I still love Disney
Yeah they could have done a much more creative job with Elsa. I have thick hair that I braid and it frays out all over the place, esp in the
About Jasmine... I'm half black half asian and I have hair just like hers. But..I guess since she's hindi it wouldnt be realistic._.
shes not Hindi! She's Arab and for that matter muslim, her dad praises Allah at least five times in that movie!
Load More Replies...they very clever but i think the point of them is they arent real thats why they appeal so much!
My hair is dark blonde and my eyebrows and eyelashes are way lighter. So there you go, you can have the opposite too :)
Wow guys it's a bit off fun calm down with the whole 'natural blonde' rants!
Actually, Jasmine's hair volume is completely realistic for where she's from. My hair has more volume than her. I straighten to reduce it.
Regarding Jasmine: I don't think this person knows much about hair for people of color. It can get quite voluminous.
Cinderella's hair doesn't make sense. she slept with plates and brushed them out.
Even if they were people they would be really people in a movie. We've all seen how unrealistically hair can act in live action movies ;)
its weird..these are all fairy tales so who cares about the level of their level of reality ? oO
do not agree with hair of Jasmine, she is an Indian woman, they have a gorgeous hair
some of these pictures are just awful, looks like someone who tried photoshop for the first time
Cartoons aren't real, nor is their portrayal of women. It is basically art. If your really worried about it try advertising and hollywood.
Pancake makeup, plastic surgery and photo editing. Those are way more guilty of unrealistic portrayals of women.
Load More Replies...Elsa was in her room for most of her life. She probably wouldn't have dyed her hair, so wouldn't that mean she wouldn't have roots showing?
these r funny, however, i don't think ariel's hair would do that when wet, she's a mermaid so she would probably have hair like duck feather
